  1. But what is racist is not absolute ... It is dependent upon what is perceived So if someone perceives 'Duppytown' to be racist, then it can be !!!.
  2. There are so many things you can do online with a phone number :) Seriously, a slap is what would have happened in the past, I'm sure.
  3. Hey. They were supposed to be off for a Peckham kebab :)
  4. I'll be glad to see it I catch the P12 or 381 bus to Canada Water every day (Don't want to pay zone 1) and Jubilee on to Canary Wharf What about a footbridge joining Canada Water and Canary Wharf then :)
  5. Buy a Christmas Tree and Save the World.
  6. Someone's Madoff with my money.
  7. Usually all pubs put a board up saying opening times over the Christmas period Best thing is to pop down and check. Bet one or two will be open.
  8. last time I was at Sainsburys it was the cheapest shop there this year. Lots of BOGOF helped mind.
  9. Statutory is hardly anything, mainly due to the 330 weekly max pay. 3000 max I'd say. Get Union help (Unite) if possible.
  10. If (finally) the commuter 'mob' turned on the muggers and dealt out some retribution Then the police would turn up pronto. So its not resources. 11. Was this an Open Mike - Some bad ones - but thats part of the fun.
  12. You could train your dog to guard the bike all day and pay a friendly butcher to feed the dog. Otherwise I'd say better not.

If it happens more than once or twice in the same pub ... a quiet word with the manager is maybe in order.
  14. Go in here at 9:30 on Friday or Saturday and you'll see that this pub doesn't really know where it wants to go - I like to know whats going on around and about. if it wants to be a nightclub ... then so be it. What is the landlord actually trying to achieve. As someone wrote on Beerintheevening this pub needs to decide if its a gastropub, sportsbar or nightclub. Walked in on Saturday about 9ish and there were actually mumblings from the 'locals' as they made way for the club set. Very strange atmosphere. if there was a gun incident Friday maybe that didn't help. Used to loud noise at all hours living at the top of Peckham Rye ... but there is something else here at present.

AAAArgh Its usually me that is to be honest :) The liability issue still worries me - everybody seems to say deny you did anything wrong - even if you did - which probably means the bus driver in the original post got a telling off.

But there was no injury to person or animal and no damage to anything except to the two cars - and in that case Police need not be involved - and thats the same today. 100% sure of that. RAC/AA and insurers advice is similar and I wouldn't want the Police involved unless absolutely necessary to be honest. Also ALL advice says NEVER adnit liability - if you do your insurers might not pay out.

I thought you needed to inform the Police if someones hurt or some third party equipment (lamp post) gets damaged. I did think however, that insurance companies tell you 'Never admit liability - or we won't pay'
  21. Colleagues of mine leave a whole wardrobe in the office. Need some hangers mind. Suppose they commute once a week :) Moos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Not sure that they were, although they pop up in a > lot of pre-historic, fur-bikini-wearing movies, so > perhaps I'm wrong.. > > I usually get an earlier and more civilised train, > on which I can sit down and for a few minutes read > my book. 22. If you park your car privately and get the disk a few days after it expires then the DVLA computer (386 I think) doesn't get you. Go on the road with it out of data and you take a risk I reckon. Didn't think there was any official period of grace now (there used to be)
  23. Guy asked for money as I walked out of Peckham Rye train station - being drunk I pulled some change out of my pocket and considered giving him 50p. He grabbed about 2 quid, muttered something about Stoneybridge (sp) and walked off. Don't count it as a mugging though (maybe aggressive begging) and never take money from your pockets - I know that :)
  24. If you don't know the area London is Hell to drive in. Right and left lanes are signposted long after it becomes impossible to change lanes due to heavy traffic, signposting is not consistent, other drivers beep and abuse those following road rules, tailgating is mandatory. I actually dread driving here if I don't know the road.
  25. He's down as a 'notable resident' in Forest Hills http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_Hill,_London although that doesn't mean now (Doris Stokes is just below him)
