School closures - fastest off the mark?
JohnL replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Isn't this something the Coalition want to remove - leaving decisions to be made by the head. Teachers won't have days off either - I'd think they work from home like the rest of us. Rye Lane gets filthy in the snow/slush mind - just a bit of sweeping would help there. steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Because I was saying something different. Boris ... ?We have virtually cornered the world market in Egyptian salt and we are sitting on a kind of salt mountain.? Similar here - but working in IT I know that we had to check we had the bandwidth and licence requirements with so many VPN connections on a snowy day. If you have a travel card of more than one zone - I think buses are free in all zones no link though.

I've noticed this too, Whenever any large (even broken) item is left for the council to collect, it's taken. I've seen people pick up chests of drawers, broken tvs etc. and carry it off. What do people want with all this stuff. In the old IT days (before change control and the like) I used to love working over Christmas, so did loads of other staff - get loads done whilst all the users are off and get double/treble time for it. Now most companies won't allow changes over Christmas. Bah Humbug :) Pearson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > DJKillaQueen Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Some indian restaurants will be open. RBS and Lloyds have 80 Billion potential debt in Ireland If Ireland goes down - I think those debts become real - and our government pays.

hers seems to have been suspended though. Theres always been argument (in my workplace) for a fixed sum to be paid for accommodation/food per day and you can get a hotel for less and pocket the difference (thats what they did - but more organised) or pay more and stump up the rest yourself. Would stop the arguments over who gets the best room and how much is placed on drinks but claimed on food (lots of restaurants will write out any bill you ask for to claim back)

Make permanent delivery areas - knocking down one or two shops - and free up a square around the station I notice Carpetright is closed now - council just has to compulsory purchase a few IMHO.

The rugby league (Aus v NZ) is on at that time too SO might depend on who's in the pubs (EDT might show both - no football on I think) I'll be supporting Wales earlier!!!

That seems to be how to drive in London - where there's so much going on ahead of you, you have to leave behind to the driver behind. Outside London you can generally drive more 360 degrees.

Wales versus Australia was interesting (but disappointing being Welsh) Australia are a really good side with no scrum at all England will know exactly where to attack them.

I just want a decent coffee bar in Rye Lane (and maybe the ELLE will bring one) But the impression I get is that hell will freeze over first

We used to do our own informally in the local community in the 70s (Lots of 'spare' land still around) With the advent of the 'Tea Party' and government cuts ... maybe these sort of things will start again and I know we were terribly unsafety conscious back then. ratty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The problem with the future of these public fire > displays is that they are coming when a whole ton > of people from LAs are being made redundant. > Whilst this is happening (duration of Tory govt > probably) you aint gonna see no bang bangs!

If a large vehicle is sitting near the front of a junction I wouldn't go near the left of it on a cycle, even if there is a cycle lane/ASL. There must be an argument to keep right.

Not sure about the hands in trousers thing - is it something trendy. I had to access a building site recently and all the younger guys seem to walk around with there hands in their tracksuit bottoms. They also walk around 'on tiptoes' in a strange slovenly way that I never noticed before. The 'trouser' trends now are strange (for us that were young in the 80's).
