Today feels like preparation for being back in the stone age Was mead around ?

My gas boiler is 14 years old - but not sure there's an option when replacement time comes (soon) as I live in flats and have to take what is available. Don't heat much mind - my Electricity bill dwarfs Gas.

LOL Cummings just posted a post proving that nuclear war is inevitable LOL - But he's wrong. Not sure if the fact he's wrong is his point ?

I remember Reagan saying that we would all unite if aliens invaded He then got accused of having secret negotiations with aliens :)

"Based on my first-hand experience, I contend that my views have a solid foundation are more objective and better represent reality." But I would state the opposite - it's all subjective. If you have a Anti-Woke/Leave versus Woke/Remain agenda whichever side you are on you can't unite more than about half.

An American former SACE just says Ukraine needs to take out every 10th Russian tank in the convoy. He's talking about Decimation.

Looks like a war crime investigation has started for using Cluster bombs against civilians.

Provocative or Just ? The European parliament will on Tuesday adopt a resolution calling on the EU institutions to work towards granting EU candidate status to Ukraine and in the meantime to continue to work towards integration into the EU single market,

Oh well after my remoan - as I said in a bit of a mood. I notice Roman Abramovich has been recruited by the Ukrainians to try and negotiate peace.

I'd never have guessed - but really do they take her this seriously or are they just scapegoating her. "There were statements by various representatives at different levels about possible conflict situations and even confrontations and clashes between Nato and the Russian Federation,? Dmitry Peskov, Putin?s spokesman, said. ?We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable. I will not name the authors of these statements, although it was the British foreign secretary."

An example of why I don't really like UK news (Sky News headline this time) "The Russian Rouble falls to an all time low as Britain sanctions Russian central bank" Both parts of the statement are true BUT surely anyone can see one is not a direct result of the other. CNN would explain what all countries were doing in concert as USA is big enough not to need building up. it's just I like truth - and when I was younger the UK was a bit like the USA in that we were big enough not to have to blow our own trumpet - we sort of talked in the third person.
-
Come on Daubney - you cannot believe that

Whilst watching a bit of Sky News just now someone just said the Soviet President Khrushchev was responsible to the politburo and the Central Committee - Putin is responsible to no-one.

Sorry for being morbid and pessimistic today. I watched the goings on in St Petersburg yesterday and the snatch squads were horrific - but we ourselves are restricting the right to protest so I sometimes see that as our future. We are indoctrinated not to the same extent but we are it's why I watch CNN so much and it is a completely different take from BBC/Sky as it is international centric not UK centric.

Listen to CNN to find out what has been going between EU and Russia for a while. For instance all EU countries are allowing any Ukrainian refugee to stay for whatever reason without immediate family being needed. Germany and France have been working together for some time now it's called the Normandy Format https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normandy_Format#:~:text=The%20Normandy%20Format%20talks%20(French,as%20the%20Normandy%20contact%20group. UK news tends to filter it out - which ironically is exactly what Russia does - I pick up international news only from CNN these days - although I like listening to Kay Burley and Beth Rigby on Sky. Oh and you couldn't get more anti-Russia than me - when it comes to nuclear threats like JFK in 1962 I say "bring it on" and Russia ran away in 1962 and they will again. you have to stand up to them. If it wasn't for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Hand and I reckon Putin has modified it to personally need him I'd say there was an argument to send someone to get him personally. "Upon receiving information about a missile launch, the supreme commander sets the system active, which, if not detecting a signal to stop the combat algorithm, automatically launches the commanding missile." - so Putin himself stops it ?? Imagine setting in train a doomsday device that only yourself can stop.

Its still scary even though I we had alert changes all the time in the 1980s. Putin can't win this in the long term - just hope he's sane.

I think maybe it was the announcement by Germany of 100 Billion on defence that maybe pushed Putin over the top.

1980s DEFCON stuff - if you are young and haven't been here before this must be literally terrifying.

It's worth noting that many of the war experts seem to be saying there's a chance Ukraine could hold out. Russians beginning to have supply line issues.

You have to give it to these guys. President of Ukraine is a comedy actor who played a president in a comedy series and ended up as real President and then when the USA offers to fly him out of the country he refuses so he can fight Mayor is a boxer who we started of hating but sort of charmed everyone as Champion and he's taking up arms too.
