It's difficult getting anything via delivery at the moment - if you order something (say a case of beer for example) and you see "unfulfilled" on the order (meaning probable out of stock even though it said in stock when you ordered) - you then order something similar from somewhere else in the hope of getting one of them before the weekend. Many sitting on "pending" on my bank account meaning it's not taken out and will be automatically refunded a week later. Amazon is still most reliable by far.
-
It is easy to start to panic once deliveries start being missed and you have sour milk/stale bread etc. I suspect some are storing in large (basement) freezers.

It's arrived on my Samsung TV - installed but not planning on subscribing yet, waiting to see what others say.

I'm not sure they will get on top of it. The worry is it will encourage more people to stockpile in future. Vulnerable people will have access to the government/Military run food hubs being set-up now.

lots of people say the UKGOV can't send alerts as we backed out of the testing. They just sent me one so they've reactivated the feature :). "New rules in force you must stay at home" "Protect the NHS, Save Lives"

I thought vulnerable people were going to be contacted automatically by the NHS (I've had two major operations in my life but won't be on this list and I don't feel I should be). I've never read my patient notes however as haven't most people.

Somebody on twitter did say (and I'm not sure if it's true) that the COVID-19 stats are collected in the same way annual flu figures are collected. So there are a lot of flu victims who never end up in the stats also and therefore the real mortality rate of annual flu might be very low.

One other thing - we should google who we're buying from as some of it is higher prices than in store. Wouldn't want to buy off the hoarders by accident and validate their actions.

I had a CO-Op delivery - not delivered - I'll make sure they don't take the money which was still pending - suspect they never fully intended to deliver :) - it's obvious in store gets priority - is that right when we should stay at home ?. Had to order from Smith & Brock for some essentials and the rest I'll have to go out to Tesco next door which I didn't want to for a couple of the rest. Managed to order 6 bottles of wine from Amazon and 24 beers from Camden Brewery (where lots of beer is going sold out - will it come back or is that it anyone know ?).

8:30 PM TV statement from Boris announced. I suppose the fact it's a TV statement says it all.

I had a bad Skype conversation today and I thought we can't afford to lose that as well. https://www.cnet.com/news/coronavirus-has-made-peak-internet-usage-into-the-new-normal/?ftag=CAD-03-10aaj8j Netflix have already agreed to scale back streaming resolutions just in case but it's never been tested like this.

Borough Market expands home delivery service to keep London fed
JohnL replied to IlonaM's topic in The Lounge
I had a look at the fruit seller - but delivery is 2nd week of april. I'm experimenting with loads of suppliers or fruit/veg/meat/beer/wine/fish though so it's all good to check :) -

I really think outdoor exercise going forward will be limited to running/walking around the local block. What we can't do is drive to parks to exercise. We might even be on full lockdown by the time some read this after this weekends pictures

I read yesterday supermarkets will move to selling emergency "boxes" of standard essentials making delivery, stocking etc. easier. The large selection of food usually available will be removed.

Seems so - and Caravan Parks etc. are being closed (unless they are of use to NHS etc.) Example https://www.devonlive.com/news/uk-caravan-motorhome-club-close-3973349 If you have a proper bricks and mortar second home I suppose no-one at the moment can stop people going there - not sure how many people do.

Moving to the countryside isn't recommended as the NHS doesn't have the capacity in those places (like Wales and Scotland).

If writing or rewriting your will - please think about cremation
JohnL replied to yorksgirl's topic in The Lounge
With my mother after the actual cremation the church service was 2 months later (we got a little plot in the Norman Church in Bishopston Swansea and had a little service and buried the ashes) Not been back since but I intend to be around to do so :) -

I brought an (under 500) exercise bike (was actually planning to do so already) and as I was looking prices were going up and delivery times were going up to april. Panicked and just paid :)

It's been clarified this morning that social distancing does not mean going out for "journeys" in the car and if we go out for exercise it should be locally to where we live. We also must stay 2m apart (on Sky News the presenters outside No10 are doing this carefully)
-
The majority of people (essential workers excepted as stated above) should now be working from home and not going out except for groceries and other essentials (arguably that includes exercise and walking pets). The roads should be mostly clear but they aren't - Loads of traffic & everybody beeping at each other. Where is everyone going.

Paying up front is king however you do it (Gold/Bitcoin included) If you found a bag of cash buried in your garden these days i think you'd find difficulty in spending it :)
