  1. I guess the teachers will provide grades ? Seems they will get grades. "He also said more details would be given on Friday on how pupils would be awarded grades in the absence of exams." (should ask my sister but I know she'll be very stressed right now)
  2. seenbeen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Alan Medic wrote > 'PS Each time we selected a tile of the same > number they were returned to the table, so we were > always selecting from a total of 106.' Is it 105 cards on the table when the partner picks a card ? Both cards are replaced on the table after both have picked a card and they compare them to see if one wins ?.
  3. 40 London tube stations to close tomorrow (confirmed by Sky News/TFL) and could be only key workers allowed to travel.

I heard they are going to stock with essentials only (meaning artisan bread replaced with basic bread, fancy stuff removed and basic stuff remains). it could work - we need bread, milk, some fruit, some meat, white potatoes etc. Vegan alternatives I guess will stay but no need for 20 types of potato.
  5. Boris talking about an antibody test which we need and will help - but then talking about the economy and how those antibody positive could go back to work with a green light on their head - much too soon - we don't know enough yet.
  6. Just got this email "Coronavirus (Covid-19): an update for residents These are unprecedented and concerning times for Southwark and the wider world, and I would like to reassure you that the council is working hard to protect residents, staff and services from the impact of Covid-19. I have agreed to stay in post as Leader of Southwark Council beyond my planned departure date of 25 March to offer stability and continuity, ensure our plans to respond to the crisis are robust and working, and that our communities are safe. We are taking every step to prepare for an increase in confirmed cases of the virus. At the moment most key council services are still running as normal. We have strong and tested plans in place to keep delivering services during this difficult period and we will ensure our most vulnerable residents keep getting the support they need. To support this we may stop doing some non-essential work to support frontline services and redeploy staff as necessary. We will continue to provide up-to-date information about our services and the support available through all our communications channels. Thank you for your ongoing support through this challenging time."
  7. lindylou Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Lynne, my point exactly. Close the car parks to > anyone but the disabled. Problem solved. No Horizon actually monitor the number plates of anybody parking in Sainsburys DKH (some of us have had tickets for staying over 2 hours) So they could limit the same vehicles (if they aren't exempt for various reasons) to once a month with a bit of system tweaking and maybe storage of numberplates or at least look for vehicles that turn up many times a week.
  8. thinking this out - (1) you get a card that isn't a joker (pretty certain) (2) your partner has a chance of matching that card (unlikely) reset and repeat. (104/106 x 7/105 )3 Ooh but you might match on the jokers too :) so including jokers (104/106 x 7/105) + (2/106 x 1/105) all powered to 3 Bet I'm well wrong LOL

Yes so there's 8 5s in the pack, person A picks a 5 and now there's only 7 in the pack for Person B to match them.

The same > way we have the sudden issue of Coronavirus > putting pressure on the health system is doing the > same. It's caused by irresponsible attitudes though and I suspect profiteers - not by the virus. 2/3rds of the public now support proper rationing to stop this by the few. https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/twothirds-of-voters-would-back-food-rationing-amid-coronavirus-outbreak-poll-finds
  11. Schools in Wales are to shut - have they jumped the gun for the whole UK as the Welsh FM sits on COBRA I think ?
  12. Night time deliveries are now unrestricted apparently. It's surprising the stores can't cope with this. Will we need ration books to stop the mass buyers (I suspect they may not all be hoarders - but profiteers)
  13. dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > (todate) Number of fatalities = 71 > (todate) Number of recorded cases = 1950 > > 71/1950*100 = 3.64% mortality rate it's correct figures but we decided to only test those who turn up in hospitals or were at risk - so mortality is 3.64% amongst those attending hospital or were at risk (not the entire population). 'chief medical officer for England Chris Witty said at a Number 10 press conference: ?We will pivot all of the testing capacity to identifying people in hospitals who have symptoms.?' Proper testing of the population will follow when we have the antibody test and can see who has been exposed (Boris mentioned it in PMQs).
  14. It does depend who you are testing - we will know for sure once an antibody test comes out as it will show how many people recovered. If you test only in hospitals where only the most ill go - you will get a higher mortality. if you test in a club for U25s (say over a month) you'll probably get 0%

I didn't actually know that - (I would avoid people sounding that ill anyway although it sounds harsh). Just got an email from my old university (Kings) - they have advised all students to go home - so maybe students having a goodbye fling. Not seen as many in Rye Lane late at night recently. Reminder - it was St Patrick's day yesterday - biggest drinking day of the year normally but almost forgotten this year.
  17. Glastonbury cancelled this morning :(. Expected but I can feel the devastation on Twitter. Maybe there will be some opportunities as businesses need to change how they operate - Pubs/Restaurants can now sell takeaway - but not sure how this will work.

I know some say it can re-occur or hibernate in someone for a while.

  21. Pubs and restaurants legally allowed to move to a takeaway business plan https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-grant-permission-for-pubs-and-restaurants-to-operate-as-takeaways-as-part-of-coronavirus-response

If you're only testing where there's a link you'll find clusters. Doesn't mean there aren't other cases not being tested. We are not testing randomly from what I gathered - actually I thought we were only testing hospital admissions unless it changed. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/17/testing-for-coronavirus-what-being-done-in-uk "Testing now mostly takes place in hospital. People in intensive care units and those with respiratory illness, especially if it is pneumonia, will get tested for Covid-19. When there is a cluster of infections, such as an outbreak in a care home, those people will also be tested."
  23. Amazon is taking on staff (those let go by restaurants and pubs) - I think the supermarkets need to also. Apparently pubs and restaurants can now legally act as takeaways.
  24. Some countries have different problems :) "Authorities are also working to stem the sudden flow of thousands of people to Argentina?s Atlantic beach resorts. The announcement of paid work leave for persons over 60 and permission for others to work from home has apparently been taken by many as an extension of the southern hemisphere summer holidays."

They need antibody testing - to know who has had this and who hasn't. I still suspect I (and quite a few others) may have had it weeks ago before it was even supposed to be in UK - but not gambling my health on that.
