  1. my 'richard littlejohn' comment wasn't calling you a cnut alan, it was meant to point out that your statement was a 'why-oh-why' generalisation about the bbc, as you would see in any right wing publication. if you're calling me a cnut in return i would ask that you edit your post please.

God, i'm reading it too, or was until i gave up as most of it was going over my head - i think i got about 300 or so pages in. any clues as to what is going on (aside from the life-love-death thing) would be appreciated. Recommended can't-put-downs: Crime and Punishment - Dostoyevsky The Secret Agent - Jospeh Conrad Jekyll and Hyde - Stevenson
  4. chuck 'em in the blue box, wait for them to be chucked out contact a recycling company or guiness for a more technically enlightened answer
  5. i'm sure the amber/red light running thing conincided with the 5 second green light thing. unfairness breeds unfairness, i pin this one firmly on t'authorities
  6. 2 bed terrace buidings insurance went up 20% this year, no explanation why.
  7. my two-penneth: a smiling bus driver can make a big difference to your day - i've seen one this year. this morning i sat near a man talking to himself about killing children, this evening i saw a fight between a drunk and a woman the most physically dangerous thing i do in my life is walking down the stairs of a double decker bus in transit.
  8. are we assuming that the middle-classes are the most generous? they were conspicuously absent from the original post
  9. banging nails into tyes seems a bit artful for young scallys - i've picked up most punctures when driving too near the gutter where nails tend to congregate.
  10. invisibility has always been a long-term fave, causal insight into everything that happens would be good too.
  11. we chose Heber last year after visiting it - we actually moved ot the area to get in goodrich but when we visited both we preferred Heber. It was failing back in 2002 and m/c parents were staying away, but thats all changed now. It lacks a bit of funds in places but the kids in the classes reflect the neighbourhood mix and the parents are a great bunch. i reckon all the schools are much of a muchness now, the last one i heard bad things about was goose green, but that was 18 months to 2 years ago and could well have changed now.
  12. charge the swine his share of the air fare and see him on his way. mooching arthropods get my goat they do.

But the cock percentage > is roughly the same. i vote this the most sensible post on this topic so far. to add, ED has changed in that it now represents the whole range of classes / incomes - it's not been over-run by other classes, the upper ends have just started moving in. it will, i believe, always contain a mix of c/i. one problem is that LL won't necessarily reflect this and lower c/i groups won't find that their needs are met (cf: any discussion on replacing iceland with m&S).
  14. the 18th would be great as it's my birthday - unfortunately it's also my boys so i'll be at a party, knee deep in manic 5 year olds high on fruit shoots on the day.
  15. Sign me up, i've got the white trousers so am perfectly qualified.
  16. jah, the drum always reminds me of trees lounge - the steve buscemi film not the forest hill road place. not sure why, it seems to be a few regulars draped over the bar when i go past. agree sean, i like the music in 72, it's quite unlike anything in ED and should be congratulated for it. does anyone else think that the bishop and f*****s will sit quite appropriately across from each other? it's a nice place and all but i can just see the flash young employees populating it at lunchtime. best put wd40 on the loo cisterns bishop-folk.
  17. Michael, my dad has been a die hard bus fan for 70 odd years now and still does the cobham bus show every year. i used to get dragged to them when a bairn so obviously have an aversion. i used to enjoy playing around the bunkers when they held it near brooklands.
  18. what are you all doing in inside 72? trying to pick up teenage art students? i like it but it's often hard to have a conversation, or a seat, and i do feel about 90 years old when i go in there due to the brevity in years of much of the clientele.
  19. I've had a similar experience to you sean. I went up there with my boy last year, he with helmet and sword, going hunting dragons. as we walked up cox's walk, down came a princess, flowing white robes, pointy hat and veil and all. 'look' i said 'there's a princess' - 'oh yeah' he said, and we carried on walking. not sure if she was the woman in white who has been discussed on the board. no dragons though, although the bog monster lives in yonder swamp up there.

  22. possibly seen today on the fence in our back garden on Landells Road. we'll keep our eyes open and let you know if she turns up.
  23. it's all gone a bit dead, i started at the 700k level about 6 months ago, has got down to the 400k's and by the sounds of it has started going even lower. i'm not an agent i've just been looking to move for the past 6 months and watching things get slower and slower.
  24. saw this on bbc news today http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/6290302.stm Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) prolly not so friendly or welcoming as you common or garden milf.
