9.5month old can't keep anything down
Strawbs replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Saff - samples not back til next week unfortunately. He said sometimes they need antibiotics but would need to be diagnosed first with something other than a virus and if we end up at a&e that they will retake samples and process immediately.. Blue - thank you for that, very good to know! Makes me feel at ease about being stuck in a waiting room with a sick and crying baby.. X -

Still no improvement here for baby strawbs so after third gp visit today (at their request), they have said if no improvement over weekend it's a trip to a&e as they really aren't sure what it is especially as he has no other symptoms such as fever.. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that as I'd like to avoid a&e like the plague! We had a night of screaming last night and him being so uncomfortable he didn't even want to be held somim hoping for his sake it goes soon! X -
Paying for your 'settling in' period at nursery
Strawbs replied to Clare11's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am being offered two free two hour sessions and then I pay for any additional -
I have the chameleon and whilst I love it I rarely go on a bus with it, the times I do it's doable but bigger than the other prams definitely.. 40 bus I can get on the front door but 484 back door only.. Easy enough to get in and out of the boot but you need a lot of space.. I love the bugaboo as so easy to push, light but steady and baby strawbs seems very comfy albeit now he can crawl and stand he hates being strapped in to the pram! Good luck!

I use cow and gate baby rice as its dairy free.. I'd introduce rice first, then a few days later maybe some pear (pur?ed with a bit of baby's milk) and work up from there.. Leave a few days in between each new food to watch for allergies. Avoid mango til baby is older.. Have fun! Annabelle karmel books are a good guide as for what foods are good to make but I never followed her meal planner

Saffron that's great to know thank you.. Rash does blanch, gp checked it again today, it's on his torso and legs.. Very light like the one you described.. She has asked for a poo and pee sample and to bring him back Friday if not improving.. He's been I'll since sat night so past the 36 hours but have defo reached the exploding nappy stage so I'm hoping we are on the way to normality again.. She said to offer him watered down formula ie 2 scoops in a 6oz bottle and see if he can handle it.. -

Well yesterday was absolutely horrendous! Thankfully though the adults of the house have improved.. Baby strawbs seemed better yesterday with very little vomiting but through the night (so I discovered when he woke up this morning) had again vomited all over the bed and himself (yet didn't get upset and wake us).. This morning he has an explosive bum, he seems genuinely hungry so I gave him some toast and then he just kept crying so I gave him some pear and I've out him to bed.. Reluctant to race back to gp as fairly sure it will just be a repeat of Monday but the rash on his tummy is a little worse.. I'll see how he is when he wakes up.. X -

He just has two bottles a day and then 3 full meals but he can't keep meal or bottle down buy the bottle seems to be the worst.. I might try a dry breakfast in the morning and see how we go. The gp said keep offering and bug will eventually pass but it's heartbreaking to watch.. Thanks moos xxx -

I am defo getting it tomorrow! I gave him some bottle before bed and 20 mons later, crying and vomiting, coming out his nose etc.. Tomorrow I'm going to do dry toast etc.. What I don't know how to do is replace the bottle which he is very reliant upon at wake up and bed time but it seems to react with him so badly.. He is hungry when he wakes so not sure he will have the patience to have toast and no bottle?! -
I'm the biggest skeptic about but I've had a few strange things happening lately including the radio turning itself on and two nights ago I was prepping dinner and the kettle turned itself on! Button went down and light came on, freaked me out!

After being covered head to toe all day in vomit I got him in to see his gp just now.. Tummy bug. Wants a pee sample (but he's not weeing at the moment as not taking a lot of fluid) she said he wasnt dehydrated though. gave me a prescription for diralyte as chemist wouldn't sell it to me today.. Hopefully tomorrow peace and order will be restored! X -

He slept through the night, has been vomiting this morning and is back in bed.. Still no temp and seems ok, I just know if I take him to the doc they will say virus and send us on our way.. Popping to chemist today once he wakes up.. X -
I used shot by the Sherriff on northcross and they were great. ?15, get a guaranteed pic and a keying picture.. My son is a wriggler and they popped him in a bumbo and distracted him perfectly to get the shot. In and out in less than 15

I Thought he was improving but my partner offered him a little milk at bed and he covered the floor, chair, both of them soaked through, it was even coming out of his nose bless him.. He is sleeping now but it he wakes up hungry I'll offer him some water.. He doesn't have a temp and hasn't been grumpy so it's a bit of a mystery.. Hoping he will be better in the morning.. Possible long night ahead! -
Brilliant thank you!

What is a good comfy travel cot that won't cost me the earth but is easy to put up and down? I hear horror stories of travel cots being thrown out the door still up as they are so difficult to undo! When I go back to work my SIL is looking after my son two days a week (other three he will be in nursery) and and she has a daughter who luckily literally sleeps anywhere but I said I'd get a travel cot for her.. Thanks!

Back to work - please tell me it'll be ok
Strawbs replied to Fidgetsmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
This has been great to read through, I'm back at work in 6 weeks (full time unfortunately as my work won't accept a part time situation) and I've been verging on tears for the last couple of weeks.. Baby strawbs starts nursery in 4 weeks so I'm home for initial nursery bugs and then come October I'm back.. Trying to be positive about it, I hope I'll be as ok as others on here.. X -

Thank you.. A friend of mine texted her sister who is a gp and she has given me some advice. For now (he is currently sleeping), I am keeping up hydration and monitoring and if need be I'll jump on the phone to nhs / Seldoc.. Thanks again! -
Toby is vomiting up everything we give him. ?Last night when he went to bed he took a long time to settle (no crying just mucking around) so I figured it was the heat. Went in to him this morning and he had been sick all over himself and the bed was sprayed, also did a nasty poo. Gave him his bottle this morning and he projectiled straight away so much that we needed to bathe him. He Was very hungry so we gave him some pears (I thought nice and bland) and within a minute he sprayed My partner with vomit. No fever and seems happy besides being hungry an having a small tash on his tummy. Besides keeping up fluids should I be doing something? Thanks x

1st B'day Party Do's and Don'ts
Strawbs replied to Ernie&Kopka's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi! I was thinking about hiring a party bus for my son's bday but I think I'm getting a little over the top! We would like to do something with family, friends and nct babies but it will b the end of October. I think I'm going to scrap the bus idea, has anyone ever done a Gymboree party? I've called herne hill and left 3 messages but no call back. Given it will be cold we would rather not have it inside at home. Tried McDonald's but they don't do kids parties. I found a couple of good entertainers that aren't mega expensive but need to find a space - does anyone know how much hiring goose green centre is? Thanka
