The problem was a small fire which was under control quite quickly. The issues was it happened at peak and created a massive backlog. Unsure why this would create issues in the morning. Still waiting for the snow chaos ...
  2. I cant recall there being queues for any restaurants on LL before, and I dont expect FM to change this. The situation in Brixton Market is very different to ED. I am expecting it will be busy, but the size of the space at the proposed location should keep punters seated and happy.
  3. Thanks for the update. Can you provide any more details. This information is only useful if used to prevent further break-ins.
  4. I love Franco Manca. Its very popular in Brixton Market. A welcome addition to the Lane!

  7. Why didnt you say something at the time? How did you know they are even from ED?
  8. Thats my dear mother. She gets a bit lost coming home some evenings from bingo. If it happens again, can you pm me and I will come and get her. Cheers, Dave.
  9. I heard they will keep a coffee shop when they are done. I am unsure on timing however - or who the coffee provider will be.
  10. BBC's Panorama on Foxtons was a great program. I wouldnt expect much to have changed from 2006. This is interesting though: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2013/nov/06/london-property-market-flat-says-foxtons It infers current prices are driven purely by lack of supply. Volumes remain relatively flat.
  11. 1. I didnt know it was closed. Probably because 2. Its in Herne Hill. And 3. This should be in the business section.
  12. Thanks James. Used DH twice today, and much better with the main stairs open. Agree with the third entrance. Not much more cost for much better flow through the station ...
  13. The stats above are a bit dated. Peckham wouldnt have benefitted from the ELL in the 2011/12 analysis. Since the ELL; Denmark Hill has lost a link as well - so I anticipate that Peckham may be alot busier than suggested (hence the upgrades).
  14. I am not sure why we need more Oyster machines. I have never used one - I prefer to use the internet where there are no queues. Simple.

Read some of the other stories on this forum; you get weird characters around the area everyday. I dont like guns and knives either; but I would not be surprised to have a knife pulled on me. Shocked - of course - surprised, not at all. Its London - take as many precautions as possible. Its sad, but its a fact of life in a big city.
  16. You guys make this sound like its a surprise. We live in London. Lock you house, your car and anything else valuable. Its not rocket science. FFS!
  17. I love fois gras. I have it whenever I can.
  18. There are far too many Daily Mail readers on this forum.
  19. I tend to use the app before I leave home - so not an issue to have it out at the bus stop. No use worrying about when the bus is coming if you are already at the bus stop right? The app is for all bus stops - so the expense to tfl for having the boards on a limited number of stops does not make sense when the majority of people get the information for free. I prefer the money be used to improve services, including new buses, more regular buses and cleaner buses. For those that cant afford a smart phone, there are other ways to manage travel. You can check on the internet before you leave home for instance. These days, you can get smart phones very cheaply; it doesnt need to be the iPhone 5s.
  20. Foxy's maths makes sense to me. All else being equal (i.e. excluding idiots with an easy pin).
  21. Anyone with any of the above mentioned pins deserve to get their funds stolen. Survival of the fittest and all ...
  22. Agree with the two responses below - it may be a case of TfL saving money given so many people have the said bus apps. They are a godsend, especially in winter! For the second question - yes, they are very accurate. The only problem is some buses arent picked up; so you tend to get more buses than you expect. Otherwise the boards and app are reliable (they are both linked to the same data source).
  23. Peckham will always be Peckham.
  24. Very interesting. Also the 484 on that list, which serves DH.
  25. I agree. If businesses have poor service, then let it be known. It should make them ultimately better businesses if they listen to the comments.
