  1. I agree with StraferJack and TonyQuinn. Its a bit harsh to come and judge at this early stage. Like Cyclemonkey, I am surprised you would keep a large sum of money in the house. What would happen if there were a fire - or a burglar. You are taking a big risk by leaving such a large sum in your house. Some commonsense is always useful.
  2. ED beavers are much nicer than other beavers ...
  3. Excited Germans re-living the glory days of 1989 ?
  4. Nice ice cream, but queues are too long as service is very slow.
  5. Yep: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1103270
  6. Oddonos also supply Pizza Express ... its the bomb!

  8. LL will continue to have a post office. JB said: "Yes the post office will close IF a new franchise post office can be created on Lordship Lane. We've been promised in writing that the replacement will offer exactly the same services." If this is true, then I dont know what the fuss is about. It should be an improvement in services from what I understand.

The private sector has demonstrated many times that an unprofitable service can be made profitable with productivity improvements. The public sector for a very long period of time has not been motivated to improve efficiency, and we all know where that has left many services today. Why indeed is the public sector still losing jobs while the private sector is increasing? I expect that any franchise owner of such service would be clearly more motivated to make money - and the main way to make money is through improving the efficiency of service to customers. If what James says is true, I am looking forward to a better service at a new Post Office. I am sick of queueing and wasting valuable time in ED - one of the worst post offices I have experienced!
  10. There was another strike a few weeks ago as well - so not a one-off. I believe its in response to this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2275423/Post-Office-shut-branches-losing-40m-year.html
  11. Apparently, there is a difference across the UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22247668
  12. This sounds like something that could be a street food concept. Why not try getting a track record from the back of a van, and then move into cheap premises.
  13. Agree with AbDabs. I find London water pretty consistent. When I first moved to London, I definitely noticed the "hardness" and the different smell. You get used to it in time. Its like walking into the cheese store on LL ... at first you smell the cheese (strongly), but within a minute or two it disappears.
  14. I have faith. Only one home loss in the league (back in October) and a draw in the return fixture late last year. All of ED should head down for this one. Scare the cr%p out of the opposition!
  15. Yes, it's been a major topic of discussion over the past few weeks: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1079639
  16. Dulwich Picture Gallery too: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1081285,1081473#msg-1081473 A great advertisement for SE London !

  19. A good option would be to take it from E&C to Camberwell via a Walworth Rd station (or 2) ... then to existing Peckham Rye, a stop at Peckham Rye Common and through to the existing Honour Oak Park station, where it would terminate. From there, passengers have the option to switch to fast trains, thereby not cluttering capacity.
  20. I think the dogshit adds character. Besides, this forum would be half the size without it!
  21. I can also confirm that Walworth Road is fully re-opened for buses this morning. I caught the 40 in this morning with no delays.
  22. Why on earth would you post this on the internet? What purpose does it serve? It only serves to offend more people - please take it down, this is ridiculous! Deal with it through the appropriate channels in the future.
  23. The e-dealer sounds like a bit of a nasty neighbour - hiding cones and the like. As Sue said, I think this is fairly normal and you should make the effort to accommodate your neighbours - so long as they arent taking the p1ss. I imagine you would expect the same courtesy if you had work done to your property.
