  1. Firstly, I dont think this guy is sinister. I dont see the need to jump to conclusions. Many modern laptops have built in wifi devices, so no need for a dongle. There are a number of explanations. But it does bring up the point of security. Most people have unlimited broadband, so it wont cost you extra if someone is using your wifi. The main risk is security, and also if the person downloads illegal material. If the downloads are traced back to your wifi, it could mean serious criminal issues. Always use a secure password. Its commonsense.

We live in London, we have crime, we have rats: its a fact of life. Personally, I have never seen a single rat in ED since I have lived in the area - but saw them a few times a week when I lived in North London. Foxes are a far bigger problem in SE22. Rats are attracted to restaurants and food, so I am not surprised there are rats around Lordship Lane.
  3. Slow news day ? Hang on, I think I found the dog! http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_malhwsuYI71ryqf9po1_400.gif
  4. There are a number of shops open 24 hours in the area. I am unsure what this post is trying to get at. The reason there is no more is likely to be demand. I know some people work shifts, but I am guessing that 90%+ people in ED sleep (or at least try to sleep) between 11pm and 6am. The central section of LL is free of a Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose or M&S. This is good for local businesses.

Dulwich park is to be shared by all. There are a number of parks in London that ban bicycles, and we are lucky to have a park that allows cyclists a safe environment away from traffic. Clearly some are going to cycle faster than others - however I have never had an issue with cyclists in Dulwich Park. I have had more close encounters with the numerous buggies on LL than I ever have with cyclists in ED.

  7. Depending on the time of day - Luton from Denmark Hill would be quickest. Otherwise, Gatwick and City are far easier to get to than Luton or Stansted.
  8. And make sure you put sunscreen on when in the sun. Also, look both ways before you cross the street.
  9. Ultimately, city life involves noise. London is a medium-density city throughout, and you also need to have some acceptance of that. If you dont like it, then move to the country.
  10. I thought this was another thread about Man City! Its hard to justify a reduction in noise during the day, unless its really shaking your house. Its not dissimilar to noisy renovation works, which we had to deal with for a year (while working from home during the day). Good luck, but I dont fancy your chances.
  11. With all these estate agents, lets hope the locals vote with their feet and negotiate fees down.
  12. The screaming is the sound of foxes mating. It sounds like a baby screaming, and is a horrible noise.
  13. At least try and do a search first. 16 pages and counting! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1098582,page=1

  15. Thats a shame. I was really looking forward to the changes around Vauxhaul. Hopefully its only a slight delay ...
  16. Its from the future! 23 April 2018 !!! Great Scott !!
  17. I agree with Dragon Fox. Pubs these days are like owning a football club. Its a nice asset to have, but wont make money. I'm out.

  19. I havent yet found a road in any part of London that isnt "sought after". Real estate agents arent the sharpest tools in the shed - most of the ads are copy-pasted and adjusted for the number of bedrooms. Trust your gut instinct - by walking down the road you can tell pretty quickly whether you like it or not. Also, a "sought after" road for one person may not be "sought after" by another. For instance, there is no point being in the catchment of a good school when you dont have kids.
  20. ianr is our local MI5 operative ... I agree with *Bob* ... they definitely arent a local if they made it through ED without hitting dog poo.

Hardly the point. It valuables as apposed to "furniture and possessions" that are the issue. Thieves are likely to take items that are small and/or liquid (easily converted to cash). Having large amounts of cash at home is not smart - and from the recent responses by polla2256, we can see they arent the most intelligent of people.
  24. Its like saying ... well, I left my keys in the car and someone stole it.
