  1. Hi Spider69, I have some more information about this. " We are installing drop kerbs at various points along the recently resurfaced footways. The distance to each one should be reasonable and generally they will line up with a pathway or point of interest on the other side of the carriageway. " Regards James. spider69 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dulwich Park kerbs > > I asked one of the workmen this morning about > this. > > The kerbs have been raised to stop the pavements > from flooding which apparently was happening all > the time. 2. The formal Traffic Management Order - the last stage in the process - for the new Dog Kennel Hill Controlled Parking Zone 'Q' has been issued. Please see follow its link - http://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/6792/v4%20Dog%20Kennel%20Hill%20CPZ%20Q%20(notice%20dated%2017%20May).pdf The deadline for responses is early June so expect it to be implemented July/August.
  3. Hi peck sniff, I thought this was due to the humps were installed marginally too high. They were replaced with humps slightly too low. Now they're trying to replace them with humps just right. This is at Conways expense.
  4. Hi jamesmcash, You should be emailing [email protected] asking for officers to urgently investigate this H&S breach - Cllr Charlie Smith should have briefed you on doing this.
  5. Hi charity007, That was a good campaign and the permanent school - The Charter School East Dulwich - opens on its permanent site this coming January. Best bit for me was obtaining the land being the first ever successful 'Right to Contest' the Dulwich Hospital land that had been idle for 25 years. Funniest was squeezing so many people into my dining room for the first parents supporters meeting.
  6. I'm relieved they're investing in this branch. 11 weeks seems a long time though. This is the planning application to change the external look and feel and add aircon upgrades -http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk/documents/?casereference=18/AP/0989&system=DC and http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk/documents/?casereference=18/AP/0990&system=DC
  7. Hi lordship girl, Do challenge. Perhaps worth joining seeking advice from http://www.las2000.org Leaseholders Associate of southwark who are well versed in fighting such bills. Also perhaps worth noting. Around 30 houses in East Dulwich the council own the freehold but both flats are leasehold. I'm always amazed those leaseholders have followed the leaseholder enfranchisement and bought the freehold form the council - as i the leaseholders right. If this is you then you can calculate what the cost of doing this would be via one of many online calculators - https://www.freeholdcalculator.com/freehold_choose.php this is the first ot pop up in a Google search.
  8. I can reiterate that. No planning permission has been sought fo a new entrance. When I last met with them the train operating company confirmed they were applying for funding for a new entrance and had provisional designs.
  9. Hi John, Almost all the work I'm proud in still exists - new primary and secondary schools that we initiated and led campaigns and largely made possible by acquiring the land. oodles of crime prevention, New Grove Vale library this September, Dulwich Leisure Centre modernisation, even the pelican crossings on Lordship Lane. Many other less obvious improvements me and my lot made happen many while in opposition.
  10. Just come back on for us.
  11. It is terrible to be burgled - especially so if present asleep upstairs. The research shows burglars are likely to repeat not just the initial home burgled after a few months but also neighbours - similar layout likely similar posessions. The Met Police patchily cocoon homes and neighbours to reduce this. So please do tell your neighbours so they can take extra precautions. Ask for the local Police for a Crime Prevention visit. But this online survey is good produced by a retired Met Police Crime Prevention Officer and only take a few minutes but really highlights areas to make a home more secure - https://thecrimepreventionwebsite.com/home-security-assessment/468/diy-home-security-survey/
  12. Did you call 999 when you spotted to avert them comitting a crime?
  13. Thank you everyone for the kind messages here, emails, phone calls, etc. They're all appreciated. Thank you. It has been an amazing privilege to represent the citizens of East Dulwich. Thank you for those twelve amazing years. Thankfully we live in a democracy and Labour ran a better campaign. I wish the new Goose Green and Dulwich Hill ward councillors good fortune representing the area. I hope they do a great job - there is so much that needs to be improved. I'm spending the weekend working through casework and getting it all to a sensible position before my council email gets switched off late Monday afternoon. I still have a number of local projects I've started and responsible for whether a councillor or not that I will see through. A little bit of silver lining - I will get to have s summer free of guilt that I've not helped people enough - as a conscientious councillor there is always something more you feel you could do. Best wishes, James former Liberal Democrat councillor for East Dulwich
  14. Hi Abe_froeman, That's very kind of you. We have all certainly achieved a great deal over the last 12 years - the last 8 in opposition making it more challenging. And the new Grove Vale library opens August/September so some of my projects are still happening.
  15. Hi Jaiko, Yes, the plan was for North Cross Road to be free of cars on market day from Lordship Lane to Archdale Road junction. I haven't had a response to why this isn't implemented yet but as soon as I do will share here. Hi natnat, Woodwarde Road. I've reported this to the cleaning team asking if they can give it some focus. It is disgusting.
  16. The frequency during day time, evenings and weekends is slightly reduced on the 176 and most other bus routes. Part of the bus cuts the London Mayor has implemented to avoid fare rises. Most of these cuts were implemented and now discovered are being published. He stood on a ticket (excuse the pun) of freezing TfL fares and this is one of a number of consequences.
  17. Hi Penguinpoist, We had a scheme two years ago ready to rollout for all those shop fronts. It required them all to agree to ensure levels for rain water to run away. Sally they didn't all agree. So we have a strip of public pavements that isn't great and a much wider strip of private sections of pavements. After the elections we'll try again to find a solution.
  18. My experience in the Electoral services team have assumed schools will accept being Polling Station. They chose Heber School for one. I know past head didn't want Heber to be a polling station. I checked new the new head who concurred as did governors. Went to Electoral services who said the school had agreed to be one. Challenged them and then electoral services backed down and Heber School will not be used as one - but it took several months to get this 'mistake' corrected. It is appalling that any school has to close for the day. It used to be 60 schools every election. Under former Councillor Bob Skelly who led on education this was reduced to 20. It now stands at 18 after a lot of pushing from me and my colleagues to stop using schools.
  19. My understanding is temporary use to hold coaches for the Dulwich Private School Coach Service near to the schools rather than them parking where they should not at the schools.
  20. BT Openreach have stated they'll fix the person hole cover on LordshipL one outside the Palmerston pub in the next 7-10 days. Bit ridiculous to have to escalate the to the CEO of BT Openreach but it does seem to get traction. I have had them remove from Heber Road a wire wrapped around their telegraph pole - dropped wire that dropped!
  21. Hi Applespider, I will ask how this has happened and what the plan to resolve it is. Thanks for pointing this out.
  22. Hi alex_b, That does sound odd. I'll be home late from work - could you please take a picture and email me - unless it can wait until tomorrow evening. Thanks.
  23. I've not criticised any councillors. I hold Renata Hamvas in high regard and also like her personally. So baffled at my end. It is frustrating that as a sitting councillors with East Dulwich residents impacted by the problem with Dulwich Hamlet admissions that council officers did not tell councillors with impacted families but only the immediate ward councillors. Something separately I hope to get changed if any future problems occur. But this is nothing compared to the families impacted- and hopefully everything will work out swiftly for all families impacted.
  24. Hi Sol, Great to have received your PM's since Thursday. Great you're also made contact with Renata. Ideally you'd only use one councillor to follow-up your admissions casework otherwise complications can arise.
  25. This happened to me several years ago. Not as extreme timing. I ignored it and it proved to be burglars who kicked the front door in. They'd have trouble doing this again. I chased them away but truly appalling experience for the me and the family. If it keeps happening then you might want to consider getting one ofthdeose Ring doorbells that records people after sensing movement so you'll have video of whoever is doing this. If they're wrong 'guns this will deter them.
