Hi Karter, As someone in the know re property in ED any ideas which brave soul has taken on the old Design Six site on Upland Road? and if it's not too cheecky can you give up which site on NCR was going to be the new coffee shop? 2. My one and only visit to this Facking French farce of a restaurant resulted in an argument with a French waiter about the contents of a salad nicoise. Mrs E can't stand eggs and requested said dish without. We then had a 5 minute tirade about where he had worked and in which towns in which countries and never did he see eggs in salad Nicoise............45 mins later up comes Mrs E's dish complete with boiled eggs.....off it went with a huffy Frenchman...back it came egg scraped out....unhappy missus.....we paid our bill, minus the optional tip and when questioned by the manager...."why no tip?"..told him the story to which he asked us which waiter, called him over to berate in front of us, best of all the waiter argued back in front of us......we left....nuff said...... Yes they are part of Le Chardon and Au Ciel in the Village. But it does go to show the amount of bad reviews these places get but still they trade on.
  3. "Their descriptions are: All about 16 years old and black. One has red hair tied in short bunches. All four were wearing dark jeans. One had on a white coat (bomber style). One of the girls is quite chubby." As a local business owner on NCR I'll keep a watch out for them, the red hair tied in short bunches is very distinctive. By the by my son of 16 was mugged in East/North Dulwich 3 times over a 4 day period recently and he only told me on the third occasion, when I asked why he hadn?t mentioned the first 2 he said ?it?s to be expected, I just give up my money?. On the 3rd occasion he had no money and took a beating?. by the way this was outside Charter School at home time on Red Post Hill.
  4. Has anyone NOT noticed the Blackpool Illuminations, AKA Foxton's offices and shop front during the evening? Wonder what their policy is on wasting energy? Locked as there's other threads about Foxtons where this is discussed - The Administrator

  6. Anyone know Pat Riley Helmet Maker East Dulwich 1957?
  7. Er, back on thread, GBK is part of Clapham House Group who also own Bombay Bicycle Club. Maybe one brand for them is enough on LL.

  9. Moved 3 times in the last 7 years and used James Removals based in Catford on all moves. Highly recommended professional team.
  10. James Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Tell us about the man who used to live in the > painted shack! > An old West Indian guy, he lived in a white painted brick shed at the top of the woods bordering Sydenham Hill near Crescent Wood Road. Lived there for years, harmless chap, took to painting the shed occasionally and adding graffiti as required. I think it was demolished after he died a few years back.
  11. would you like a saucer of milk Louisa?
  12. design six are wholesale only based over in West Dulwich on the park Hall trading estate
  13. 2 is best IMHO , we took in two baby sisters from a rescue centre and they are super together and apart.Just before we got them to Lomax for the snip, one, Treacle had a liaison with a local tom and subsequently produced a litter of 4. We now have 4 cats in total (rehomed 2 of the litter). All 4 cats live together harmoniously and all are very individual. Take 2 in and they provide company for each other when the family is not around.
  14. I notice the shop adjacent to the double White Stuff unit on LL is under offer, anyone know who to? I know the asking was ?32,500 PA plus a premium. These rents are now getting up near central London levels. I think the inevitable influx of the big boys is about to wash over LL.
  15. I heard the chippy on NCR, "Emily?s" is going to be a Pie'n'Mash shop? Any confirmation anyone? There is a Planning application in and approved for alterations.
  16. It would appear, spadetownboy, big time bank blaggers love ED. Michelle Hogg although not deceased,.... "Michelle Hogg, 31, from Woolwich, south-east London, was the first person arrested by Kent police over the ?53m robbery of the Securitas depot in Tonbridge" former pupil of St John's and St Clement's on North Cross Road.

  18. I'm not sure if they can bend the A3 use back to A1. A3 means you cook from scratch on the premises. you can with A1 use serve hot food prepared elswhere and re heated.
  19. Oh and do you know anything about the A3 restaurant application in on the former warehouse behind Cafe Nero?
  20. Karter, Is this new coffee shop anything to do with the A3 planning application in on 5 North Cross Road?

  22. What tends to happen is, and in IMHO, this could happen on LL, a major property company buys up blocks of shops and starts to double up adjoining units to attract chains, (Cafe Nero, White Stuff) then once it has its mix of cash rich tenants puts the squeeze on in the form of rent reviews. When a start up or small trader comes along he is thwarted at the first hurdle as a bad risk to those rent hikes. A classic case is Covent Garden. Seven Dials and Neal St are mostly owned by The Shaftesbury Estate Co. try approaching them for a unit there and if you're not a fashion chain forget it!
  23. The best place for all things paint is Whites Trade Centre on 42 -44 Brockley Rise. All the usual suspects including F & B but at least half F & B Fulham road prices, not sure if they're open on Saturdays.
  24. I think one of the reasons for taking a head lease on all three units is to ensure they control the type of "neighbour" they get. i.e. no competition. I noticed from another source they are looking for 2 shop managers, one for Dulwich @ ?18k & one for their new Spittlefields store @ ?25k. To answer Macroban's question?... a high yielding non sports type clothing, non food, established business?or an estate agent??
