  2. If not replaced with a tree, then what about putting a replacement nearby? BTW, there is a nice, new mini-copse (OK, that's going too far - a handful of new saplings) on the corner of Peckham Rye and E Dulwich Rd.
  3. Please add to the list the locations of empty tree pits in SE22. It's so that councillors - and anyone else who has influence - can see where trees should be replanted (or not, if they don't want them back for whatever reason). 49 Landcroft Road 9 Goodrich Road 95 Goodrich Road
  4. I wanted to start a thread where people could locate empty tree pits so that councillors could see where trees are needed. It would have been a "one-stop shop" rather than councillors having to look around in various places on here to find out where trees have been taken away or have died. I will repost under "Empty tree pits in SE22".
  5. You glanced around to see if anyone was looking before you dropped it. I was, actually. So why not say something? Sheesh. What is the point of trying to locate and shame a complete stranger on a website that is used by thousands of people? Do the right thing - pull the slatternly dog owner up over her bad behaviour at the time, but don't come on here and whine impotently about it.
  6. I posted a thread asking people to list where there are empty tree pits, to draw attention to Cllr Barber (and everyone else) so that more trees can be planted. It was up for a while, then disappeared overnight (Thursday into Friday 6th). Why, admin, is this so? (NB I searched various keywords, including my login, but cannot find it, so if I am mistaken and it is actually lurking somewhere, do let me know.)
  7. Please add where there are empty tree pits that need new trees in them so that Cllr B (and/or others) can get them refilled. Thanks 11 and 95 Goodrich Road 49 Landcroft Road
  8. As a last-ditch effort, why not ask for responsible individuals to plant them in their own gardens and promise to takecare of them. That way, the work won't have been wasted and the trees will continue to prosper and give pleasure.
  9. Pavement access will still stay open - so cyclists should be fine as well. ?
  10. It's "alternative". Shame about the path, too. Sounds like lack of consideration on the part of the contractor and/or council.
  11. Good on you and good for asking them! There are other threads about this kind of behaviour but not everyone has words with the perps.
  12. Did you follow them, ask them what they were doing, ask them to stop, tell them you were calling the police, or just come here and write about it?
  13. Ahem.... People who say "students" when they really ought to say "pupils", especially if they think it makes them sound more modern, trans-Atlantic and/or like they're "empowering" school children by giving them a more adult-sounding name.
  14. 20mph signs being painted on LL near to the junction with CPR this morning.
  15. Sete, Pezenas, Beziers, Nimes are all very nice (even better with the accents etc. that I can't find on this keyboard).
  16. Magnifique! Enfin, the bloody awful yellow and blue place next to the barber's will be no longer an eyesore. Shame that the laundry won't be turned into something useful soon.
  17. BBC: 11:37: Waitrose jobs Waitrose has just put out a press release saying it expects to create 2,000 jobs in new and "extended" shops, as well as in a new online grocery depot. They are opening seven supermarkets and seven convenience stores. One in King's Cross includes a cookery school.
  18. It would be great if it were used as (almost) anything. FHR is looking better than ever, despite that eyesore near the barber's - the yellow and blue building. The William Hill is also empty, but both it and the former laundry look like something is happening with them. An extended Coop would be good.
  19. Soho House, Dulwich?
  20. Hotel du Vin, SE22!
  21. If not a restaurant (Pizza Express, Strada maybe?) - could it be turned into a small school or nursery (probably private)? I just can't see even a big "chain' food place doing well there but it would be good to have something useful and profitable there.
  22. Once again, it is a clash of attitudes, namely the "oh sod it, the rules don't apply to me and I really must have that pizza/curry leaf/bottle of cava" culture and the "I won't park there because it'll likely cause a lot of people inconvenience, and it's not allowed anyway" way of thinking. You have choices, people!
  23. I can think of a very good reason for there to be restrictions at the Sainsbury's Local, namely to avoid massive tailbacks all the way to Towny Road at peak times. I am always surprised that the usually vulture-like wardens seem to avoid ticketing Sainsbury's Local offenders (as they do the delivery vehicles on Rye Lane, but that's another story) and yet slap a ticket on people who are causing nowhere near as much congestion in other SE22 spots.
  24. Minitoots - Tell your neighbour to report them! Better still, take the trash back to them. It's the only way!
  25. Would poor peak-time transport encourage people to take advantage of any flexi working at their work, or ask their employer to introduce it? I know only a certain amount of people would be able to do it, but if the commute is debilitating then shifting the hours of work would be a solution.
