Which local (SE22/21/15) GP surgeries are offering the vaccine?
Nigello replied to Nigello's topic in The Lounge
You are not obliged to go to one of the super-centres and can wait for a local appointment, but the larger ones are designed to be reachable by people within 45 minute drive, so it suggests that personal transport is expected, if not encouraged. My questino remains - if you know of a local GP surgery that is offering the jab, please say. -
The now empty corner shop on E D Road, along from Papa John's, etc., has got a new mural, which is very good. I spoke to the artist who said he wanted to add a bit of colour, I am guessing both figuratively and literally.

If you or your relatives are poorer and/or belong to a group that is statistically more likely to suffer from Covid and don?t get vaccinated then you are both stupid and dangerous.

Which local (SE22/21/15) GP surgeries are offering the vaccine?

I was told by a doctor at DMC that it would not offer the Pfizer but would possibly offer the O-AZ or others not needing very cold storage. Others? -
Vital that she get it - and that she tell all her friends and even strangers! I am shaking my head at all those people - generally poorer and in groups that may be more susceptible in the first place - saying they won't get it (some South Asians, according to the BBC, and older folk in general). I hope this pandemic makes more people more aware of their responsibility to themselves and others when it comes to health and the health service - it is limited in its possibilities, even with all the money we throw at it, so better to do your utmost to stay well. (Flu levels are down because people are not mixing as much and are washing hands, getting inoculated, etc.)

Camberwell Cemetery. New gate entrance
Nigello replied to dennis's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The gate is lovely. Yes, it would be better if there were a ramp, but given that the other entrances are fully open to all and that this was part of a revamp of the cemetery istelf - ie. not just a plan to put in a new entrance - I think it is rational to have this entrance as it is. I am sure the council will have been through all the procedures to make sure the entrance does not constitute a snub to people in wheelchairs. -
To be honest, the market is secondary to the fact NXR is a thorougfare. I don't think anyone who needs to get from A to B should be asked to wear a mask. It's suggesting that the market is more important than the free space for everyone. I avoided it and will do again. I think it ought to be shut down for the interim.

I walked past the market at LL but did not go down NXR. I saw the marshalls in high vis jackets and thought I just CBA with another level of intrusion, even though it is probably necessary. Fluoro yellow brings out the worst in me....

I would give it a go and cite your one-off problem (and the long queue) ut I wouldn't hold out much hope. That is how folk make money these days - it is not illegal, and you did go against the contract. Harsh, but true and typical of the UK right now. At least this will help others be aware that the company is quick off the block for revenue.

Road trip San Fran to LA to San Fran - any advice or recommendations??
Nigello replied to ninbi's topic in The Lounge
I agree that Vegas could well be better ditched in favour of more time in the rest of the places or to include San Diego. Don't expect to travel faster than about 65mph and watch out for the CHiPs! Cut out coupons or download them digitally for places like Denny's, etc., for breakfast, if you are not eating in the wagon. America is cheap but when you add in the tax and the obligatory "gratuity" it gets pretty dear. -
My mum sent two shoebox-sized parcels separately and both arrived separately, even though they were sent on teh same day. A deliverer came in a van so perhaps this is not Royal Mail, but a separate entity? Has anyone been down to the Peckham office recently to ask for someone to have a rummage for mail? If so, what's the best time, etc.?

Road trip San Fran to LA to San Fran - any advice or recommendations??
Nigello replied to ninbi's topic in The Lounge
All I would say is have as much insurance as you can afford and take as much time as you can as the distances are large and there is so much to see and experience! Sausalito is nice to visit and Alcatraz is very worthwhile as a day trip. -
The huge puddle near to the Court Lane gate had this morning largely disappeared, and the grids where it had been had evidence of someone having scraped them out. Big puddles on the posh gravel on the way up to that lovely blue cottage had shrunk but were still there. The local councillor said this was the remit of the Dulwich Estate (without saying that she would contact it).

Anyone Do the Clap for Heroes ??
Nigello replied to natty01295's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Is it too much of a stretch to say that we can show our thanks and support by doing more to keep ourselves healthy, even outside times of pandemic? We are mostly a self-indulgent lot, so if we all ditched the chips/booze/fags/hazardous sex, etc. at least some of the time wouldn't that be a good way of showing support? Some of us do this, many don't, thinking "it won't happen to me". A fair bit of illiness is, if not completely avoidable, then aided and abetted by certain choices. -
Yes, I get that - but the grids are usually totally blocked in the park and the sand on the horsetrack gets loose and clogs it up (that's not my supposition but was told me by a park officer). Crappy tarmacking that splits at the first opportunity (see also in PR park and Dawson's Hill) doesn't help.
-
I have not seen my usual postie for at least a fortnight and have had two deliveries by two different people. Both said it had been very busy with piles of letters, mainly, that are being sorted and delivered as and when.
-
Both PR and D Parks are full of really rather large ponds, not puddles. The one parallel to Peckham Rye (at the boys' school) is massive! Also, as usual, L Land has its annoyingly frequent and deep-enough-to-wet-your-shoes puddles opposite the Picture House, and the obligatory ponding at practically every dropped kerb. (I have notified the local councillors, the park people and Helen Hayes, so not just whining on here like is the usual.) If you are cheesed off, please email the relevant councillor and CC the MP, including your phone number, home address and email address if you want the MP to even consider reading it.
-
If you look on the boards near the car park/tennis courts at the Dulwich Picture Gallery side there are SOuthwark information posters with phone numbers for park officers, etc. If enough of you sent him or her a text, askign for warden presence or better signage, etc, it may work. Otherwise, not much will change.

Warning - Dangerous hole on Forest Hill Road
Nigello replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree - please address your justified concerns to Thames Water and post back their response. -
Re public questions - how and where can you place these?

Warning - Dangerous hole on Forest Hill Road
Nigello replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Without taking any action = unlikely. They may well have not been able to do anything physical and/or visible ast night but I am sure they will have taken action to solve it but behind the scenes, ie. taking notes, pictures, lining people up to do the work today. -
what to do if a shop is not taking covid seriously
Nigello replied to fulfordf's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think a lot of it is due to the staff. Some have a chippy attitude - it's nothign to do with me, I hate the boss, I don't get paid enough, whilst others are just dim. M and S and CoOp on LL have a fairly substantial minority of staff who don't wear (or wear badly) their masks (and yes, I did point this out to the managers at the time, which is what I encourage others to do who see the same).
