Yeah, that's me. But how did you know I was shouting after him re the elastic band? Perhaps you prefer that option so you can spill your bile because if you considered I was asking him to take the wrongly-delivered post your ire wouldn't be so bad and you'd have nothing to write about on anonymous websites. Mwah!

Tips for an uninspired filmstudent during a pandemic
Nigello replied to Enileoj's topic in The Lounge
How about "ostentatious queueing" - viz. Gail's, Mons, posh butcher's shops. Everyone's got an opinion on that. -
I got two deliveries today, one about fifteen minutes after teh first hich was done by a new postie who dropped a laccy band on my path and delivered a neighbour's mail. I shouted after him but he wasn't able to hear me....

William Rose Butchers queue is getting ridiculously long again

But then they wouldn't be seen! (Louisa lives on in me...) -
I agree about the lack of allure from the station end of MG. The big bins outside the pharmacy are ugly and covered in tagging, likewise the phone repair shop and the new takeaway ood shop next to the exercise studio, and the barber's is missing a letter on the signage. On their own it wouldn't matter but it all adds up to neglect and general meh-ness. It could be very attractive with a tiny bit of incentive and effort - do the businesses know that the council will clean their shutters free, with permission? 5/10 - could do better!

New proposal to build 17.5 mt 5G tower in Chadwick Road
Nigello replied to uki1988's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It is a forum, uki, so all manner of people and all sorts of opinion are expected and welcomed - up to a point. To think that everyone is going to agree is unreasonable. You posted, people commented. That is how it is. Nobody is having a go, just doing what you are doing but from another viewpoint. Enjoy the EDF experience! ;> -
Hello, My boiler (around five years old, Vaillant) has nothing on the LCD screen and won't work. It was ok this morning before I switched it off when it got too warm. I went to switch it on (it is never on a timer) and nada. Any tips? Also, any reliable fixers-of-boilers who are, well, cheap and good?! Thanks much

New proposal to build 17.5 mt 5G tower in Chadwick Road
Nigello replied to uki1988's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If people want greater connectivity they have to get used to there being at least the chance of one of these masts being built near their home/school/etc. It sounds gruff but it's a reality. I don't think there are that many dangers but they do look rather ugly. Can they be surrounded by trees or does that affect their efficacy? -
Shag (cormorant) spotted in peckham rye park pond/lake
Nigello replied to theboycj's topic in The Lounge
Yes, I have seen it as well - usually sitting on a slightly submerged rock or pole or on high in a tree on the island. I think it is a cormorant - shags are mostly found on the coast and look just a little different though I could be wrong. There is a cormorant on the Lake in Dulwich Park also. I once saw a kingfisher on the lake in PRP but it was at least ten years ago. More variety of fauna would be great but I don't know whether this area has the necessary attractions for a bigger number of species. -
I agree with ST re fine structure. In the meantime, a very large contribution to an NHS-related charity or such would be good for her image, which I think is what she really cares about.

I agree with some thigns you say but point out that is the corollary of unchecked Covid - the impact on the NHS and other public services - that is driving the shutdown. An answer would be for everyone (pro or anti) to write to their MP asking that taxes and NI be raised to fund a better-equipped and resourced NHS. I'll hold your beer....

There were about nine or so families on Friday morning (young, wealthy-looking) in the Dulwich playpark despite there being signs saying it was closed. It is ironic because they look precisely the type to get their kiddies to draw rainbows to hang in their front windows and to clap for the NHS. I left a message for the parky (who has a much more elevated title)!

A Q would have to be spaced out Accor to guidance (at least a metre). Is the CP market doing that?

Courtesy is key but so is road safety training and insurance. A happy, smiley person on an e-scooter (illegal) can still cause and/or be a vict8m of an RTA. They?re not to be used unless they?re insured and taxed like other vehicles that can reach 25+mph.

It?s not appropriate - a mealy mouthed, mean little phrase. It sneaked in via US corporate/pop psychology and users seem to think its utterance is a salve-all for anything their tender eyes, ears and psyches can?t or won?t stand.

Yes, replantable trees, either to buy or hire seem to make great sense in all manner of ways. If you were in raptures when you heard nature and were able to enjoy it more in the spring during the first wave and the lockdown then think of reducing your consumption over Xmas - it's not that hard. Just because it has been tough it doesn't mean we should splash out and waste food and buy stuff we don't need.

I don't ever see LL packed, never mind even as busy as it used to be. I have no skin in the game apart from wanting fewer emissions as soon as possible. Busy times are, yes, busy but they last only as long as the people are taking kids to school or themselves to work between 8 and 9 and then again 5 and 7 or so. LL is not packed, honestly it isn't. I view it at least once a day between GG and The Plough and it's just not as apocalyptic as some state.

I saw a rider fall off one on CPR. He seemed ok and declined help. I think they?re accidents waiting to happen and doubt anyone using them is insured. Look both ways, pedestrians, and tell pavement riders to get off!

flu jab - Tessa Jowell practice - safe?
Nigello replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My last tests took much longer than either the old Dulwich Hospital or King?s. Is there any reason anyone can think of how come that might be? Do they all get sent to King?s anyway? -
You can rent a tree. It?s delivered and taken back after Xmas. It?s replanted. Sounds like a great idea. https://www.londonchristmastreerental.com/

Council parks to charge ?2ph parking fee from 1 April
Nigello replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The people in the cars are often young and wealthy (given the cars they drive). They can afford to drive and pay. -
Several young lads (no older than fourteen, I?d say) were put into a police van with their bikes (that had just been unlocked by them on instruction by officers) about an hour ago on Dunstan?s near the school. A police car was there before the van.

Another reason to pick up leaves near where you live, if you are able: /forum/read.php?5,2164837

You could fold it and ask your new neighbours whether you could use theirs this once. It's a reasonable request and a decent icebreaker!
