  1. I?ve just seen lots of traffic and the reason was school closing time. That?s down to individuals choosing, not needing, to travel short distances by car. It?s that simple.
  2. Ruined lives? Such hyperbole serves nobody well.
  3. Masks help and they also give a sense of solidarity etc. If you?re on a bus or train, or in a car with people unknown to you or not in your bubble, open the windows. Fresh (even the kind we get here) air helps dilute the concentration of aerosols and other particles in the air. Too many buses are rolling around all tightly sealed. Do your bit!
  4. Just remove the barriers and place at the side of their wall as safely as possible.
  5. They?ve not been put in illegally. They?ve actually been put in thanks to a law. It?s argued the council didn?t advise residents or solicit opinion, either at all or not enough. That?s a procedural matter and one I think any legal adjudged may either not be concerned about or think that such a matter is less important than the measures put in place according to the powers Southwark has.
  6. They will never put a CPZ there. There?s no need because people don?t park there to be near a station. PR is at least a 25? walk away, ED and HOP about 20, the latter uphill part of the way and none reached speedily and easily by bus from this actual location. School traffic is heavy though many pupils do walk and a few cycle.
  7. Barriers and perforated kerbs (about 2? into the road) have been put into place on Dunstan?s Road. Similar restrictions are now on Upland Road, parallel to Dunstan?s more-or-less.

    Green roofs

It can be ??? to have someone install one so DIY is a better option. It?s a great idea. Sedum and succulents do well though plants that attract pollinating insects and other wildlife would be great to have if the right conditions are provided. Good luck
  9. Is anyone else having broadband problems?
  10. Open all windows on the bus/train and on the Tube where carriages connect to push through air from outside to dilute the concentration of any virus.
  11. Complain to the organisation or business involved and CC your MP/councillor. (MPs require full address and phone number in any letter to them.) It's unlikely the MP will react to the email but the manager or owner will understand your seriousness about the matter.
  12. Flocks of sparrows (I think tree, mainly) like fat balls in hanging feeders in my garden. They can?t always manage the pellets in the closed feeder with dispensing spout.
  13. Fixed now. Good ol? Virgin!
  14. It won?t be fixed till 2am! No TV on broadband
  15. Flu jabs can lose their efficacy over time, so having them in November (before the hardest hitting time) coukd actually be a benefit. Social distancing and masks are likely to keep down infection rates anyway. Superdrug has a booking facility for the branches offering vaccinations. Streatham is nearest. Good luck

Yes ? our yummy mummy/daddy types think because they?re being green they don?t have to obey laws, even at peak times foot footpath use (school opening and closing). The trikes/Dutch types with the kid-carrying baskets are particularly irksome.
  17. Also, Dulwich (SE21) is separate from East Dulwich (SE22). The former is greener and richer, but ED is also very pleasant and leafy and not ?poor? in any way.
  18. Dulwich is not big, but if you?re going to be looking for work in central London you?ll want to think carefully about location because we do not have a Tube station and transport is ok, not brilliant. Some places are well served but others will require a longer commute. Check your accommodation address against a map with rail stations and bus stops on it. If you?re wanting to work within a 3-5km radius, cycling and buses will probably be ok.
  19. Energy spent here could be better spent speaking (not emailing) the heads of all local schools to ask just what they do to support non-private vehicular transport to schools, pupils and staff. I?ve no irons in the fire (no car, no kids) other than living very close to a school, and I?ve done exactly this already. The least heads can do is keep pushing home the need to lower the number of car journeys associated with their school. Give it a try!
  20. I?ve complained about lack of working machines and long queues in both countries and got civil replies (but not ones that changed anything, but at least I tried)!
  21. I saw a small group of LTTs feeding on seed/suet in holders in the spring. Hopefully they?ll return. Mostly it?s house and tree sparrows since summer but I saw a blue titbit on a feeder last week.
  22. I was replying to the OP. 🤷‍♂️
  23. Does English exceptionalism also encompass complaining on forums unlikely to be seen by the offender about actions/non-actions after the event instead of there and then? I?d say yes. Even reporting it to the offender a day or so later would help.
  24. I asked a cafe to put up signs reminding takeaway customers that face coverings were compulsory, which it did a day or so afterwards. If there?s a place not doing their utmost to remind patrons what they?re obliged to do, please ask it to put it right. The cafe manager was understanding and had already put in other measures so I?ll continue going there.
  25. The person in charge has seen the thread and says the council is committed to planting trees on Champion Hill, and that the grass verges (I think this means the sidings) are not suitable for such planting. I replied, asking them to consider the chance of accidents especially amongst those with disabilities, pointing out the council?s obligation to take any rules or regulations in mind. I?m all for trees but don?t think these will be in the right place.
