If Southwark really has not complied with the legal requirements then this should be notified to the Borough Solicitor, the Chief Executive and the Leader; and they should be asked to put the situation right. As for dogs off leads, dogs do need exercise and if there is not enough space in the 'exercise areas' then dogs are going to be made ill by it and surely this would be grounds to prosecute Southwark for cruelty? It looks to me as though this has really not been properly thought through.

The memorial was refurbished a couple of years ago, don't know by whom. I will happily support a request to the Legion.

Interesting story about CSM Dry Cleaners
Amelie replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am sorry but I do think that Susie is being unfairly treated here, she obviously put a great deal of time, thought and emotion into her dress and how much that may have cost in terms of ?ss is irrelevant. She wanted a dress that would be memorable for a variety of reasons, one of which was presumably her choice of husband, and all the memories that she had invested in that dress have been ruined. She must have been devastated, I know I would have been. CSM don't appear even to have offered to apologise, and to add insult to injury have tried to evade their legal obligations, (let alone the moral ones). If this happened to someone that I knew I wouldn't concern myself with how much she might have spent, or why, but with trying to help her achieve some kind of recompense. -

Very male responses to the loss of a wedding dress here, clearly you boys have no idea of the huge sentimental value that women attach to these dresses. My mother still has the dress she wore when she married my father and it has never been worn since. A little more sympathy and understanding required chaps. -
It is being turned into flats with new garages attached, there is a description on Southwark's planning applications page.

There are lots of dry cleaning cases in the law reports, and plenty of legislation inc. the Sale and Supply of Goods and Services Act. Susie should definitely pursue this and she might consider asking the local Trading Standards office to investigate as well. -
I spoke to one of our postmen today, apparently our 'usual' postie is on crutches after being clipped by a car while he was chasing the muggers who took his bag - it turns out he didn't hear them coming up behind him because he had earphones on. Anyway apart from the crutches he is, relatively speaking, alright.

Mockney I travel to and from London Bridge Mon - Fri and there are definitely trains to East Croydon after 5.30pm, which station are you travelling from?

I picked up a framed poster from The Arterie this morning, the usual high quality workmanship which I was always go there. Sadly this may no longer be possible quite shortly as they have had a rent review which may well put them out of business. The manager told me that he has had the week from hell dealing with solicitors and surveyors as a result. Not good news for Northcross Road or ED generally.(td)

Pierced ears will only become infected if the practitioner is not very good, I had mine done at 14 in a pharmacy in Bromley, and if you don't keep the pierced areas clean afterwards. Surgical Spirit is good. There are lots of things done to children by their parents, quite legally, where they have no choice and whilst I don't overly care for the sight of toddlers with pierced ears I'm not going to tell a parent from an ethnic minority that they shouldn't have done it.

Erm Keef, agree with you up to a point about children and ear piercing but for some parts of the community this is part of their culture.

Sushi would be good, I have to say I think William Rose and Moxon's are missing a trick by not selling any 'food to go', traditionally of course butchers and fishmongers did not do this but things change. I would like Chener Books to expand into larger premises, to know what is going into the premises just before the turning for Pellatt Road, to know what Park Hill Properties' intentions are, somewhere to buy clothes (no not White Stuff), a branch of Hotel Chocolat. Yes, yes I know, no chains, but they are so yummy!

The Sea Cow will also something for you from Billingsgate if you ask, and prepare it for you and even cook it if need be.

Shopping til 8 on Thursdays? Please.

Sorry, I meant children's clothes shop!:-$

The park will come under the jurisdiction of the Director of Environmental Services at LB Southwark, write to her (cc the CEO and the Leader) pointing out the lack of consistency and ask her if she can sort it out.

Is this in addition to the one on LL and the one on Upland Road?

The trouble with squirrels is that if they get into your loft/attic they sound as though they are wearing hob-nailed boots, we had one when we lived in Sydenham and it used to shin up the outside of the house from a neaby tree, wave to my brother on the way, and then run riot over our heads. They also like to chew the insulation on cables, apparently if your cables are of a certain generation they taste nice to squirrels. My granddad suggested borrowing someone's terrier and leaving it up in the loft for a few days to scare off the tree rat.

Unofficial support your East Dulwich business week

I was merely suggesting that there was a possibility that the shops on LL do not open late for a reason, not stating it as a fact. Monica has now clarified that it is in fact a matter of choice by the shopowners. I have however seen commercial leases that do stipulate opening and closing times, which is the point that I was making. It would be nice if people on this forum would not jump down one's throat merely for proposing a theory. -

I don't know it for a fact but most licenses and/or leases for commercial premises have quite specific do's and dont's in them and it is not uncommon for opening hours to be included, premises leased by commercial or public landlords do this. If someone from the LL traders reads this perhaps they could shed some light on the lack of a late-opening shopping night. I have also noticed that LL is always nearly completely closed for business on bank holidays and New Year's Day, whereas in Central London these are some of the busiest shopping days around; is this through local choice or some sort of stipulation? -

"Val's" is the grocers opposite Dulwich Library, and Nisha is fabulous; I buy my office's weekly milk supply from her each week and I think she is wonderful. Also: William Rose Dulwich DIY Mr Boo Hope & Greenwood The picture framers Franklin's Tandoori Nights (my brother used to be offered free meals there because the staff thought he looked like the owner's nephew).
