Local 1, although an interesting claim (do you have a link to back it up), you are in fact referring to clear up rates, which are a very different thing to what is published on the Met site i.e. offences. (I've been trying to edit my post for ages but have been unable to connect to the site)

The MPS are beta testing online crime maps of London to give a visual representation of crime figures by borough, ward and postcode. http://maps.met.police.uk/ Simply enter your postcode in the search bar to find your locality. As you can see, Southwark is a high crime borough compared to the much of the metropolis. On a more micro scale, the ED ward and LL town centre area is above average, whilst much of the surrounding area is average, causing an interesting orange on yellow effect, like some weird crime fried egg. *Edited as my sloppy typing and punctuation gave my post the wrong meaning*.

My other half had her Barclays debit card cloned and ?300 withdrawn in Canada last Friday. She hasn't been in Somerfield for a long time but regularly uses both Barclays and HSBC machines on LL. Make of that what you will.

Try TVFreeload.com It's also worth signing up for a rapidshare account (about ?5 per month, unlimited downloads) otherwise you'll spend all day downloading each part of each episode.

Have to agree with Keef, Don't Look Now has it's moments. It builds a sinister tension throughout until it's unexpected (for me at least) climax. Must also mention Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. It made me feel particularly uneasy all the way through and David Lynch is a master of imagery and tension. It's not horror so much as horrific. *Note to self to dig out TPFWWM from the collection*

Season 5 is moving towards a tense finale, methinks. Without giving anything away, it can be quite uncomfortable viewing at times, knowing that something must give way (edited out of courtesy after Mockney's post, but must stress it was not a spoiler!) I've only got 2 episodes left and then no more wire for me:'( What can possibly fill the void? I guess I'll have to start at season 1 again.

Rico is a troll, no?

What's 'tomming' then eh, *Bob*? My favourite urban myth is that which concerns Joanna Lumley's excessive use of cocaine in the 1960's. Apparently, her preferred method of consumption was to have the substance poked it up her bottom by her lover. As a result her entire back passage collapsed (think Daniella Westbrook's septum) and she now has a plastic anus. I like to think that there's at least a nugget of truth in there.

MW74, We had mice living in our building. The pest control guy that came to sort them out advised me not to use shop bought bait as most commercially available stuff is useless (You can't beat the spring loaded traps for results - I've caught 3 :-) ) Anyway, the poisons work by temporarily thinning the blood, thus lowering the rodent's body temperature. The little bastards will simply find somewhere warm such as a hot water pipe or in your case a fridge motor, until they warm up again. Perhaps you used some form of super bait that actually works or perhaps the rat got too hot and simply cooked itself to death on the fridge motor.

Might Be opening a New Bar/Cafe in E.Dulwich
Horsebox replied to nico1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Nico, If you're thinking about serving cocktails then I say keep it simple. A small menu of classics, prepared with high quality ingredients should do the trick. If a customer does wish to go off-piste, so to speak, then your bar staff should have the knowledge to prepare many other non listed beverages as well. -

Pathetic old racist fart on Frogley road (Lounged)
Horsebox replied to Shu.Kurimu.Sensei's topic in The Lounge
The english call the french 'frog' all the time. Likewise, when i'm in france i get called 'ros bif' quite a lot, usually by in-laws and friends of theirs. I know context has a lot to do with it and that sushi, as a call to your lady was probably not meant in a jovial way. Or perhaps the guy thought he was being really funny. What really matters is how the person on the recieving end feels. In this case it was offensive. -
I've been cycling ED to SW6 for nearly 2 years and I used to take the route above as posted by oysterburger. IMHO, definitely quicker and much more enjoyable, pleasant, scenic, plus fewer idiot drivers, less bendy buses (none) if you go via Brixton and clapham common. I say, how about a road race? We shall depart from The Plough public house at midday sharp where the Queen herself shall drop the chequered flag.

Can't do the 9th I'm afraid. Would love to come along another time so please report back how it goes. Have a good ride.

An obvious solution to this problem is to have designated days when children are permitted in the store (accompanied of course), say, monday, wednesday, friday. All other days are for the benefit of responsible adults only. If it proves successful and popular (no doubt that it will) then it could become local policy and the zone then extended to cover Lordship Lane and eventually all pubs in ED.

What does him being black have to do with anything?

I'm still unable to see the benefits of fixed gear / single speed bikes. They look good but other than that I see them as a short term fashion. It's not difficult to maintain my current MTB, but then I used to work in a bike shop, many moons ago. Having said that a little research on basic maintenance can go a long way and also save you ??.

Yes, like a bunch of complete petanquers.

Not a drop left...

A great idea. If you can propose a date or 2 and i'm free then i'd be well up for joining you on this. My bike is used daily for the commute but it's not exactly testing.

Hello el-torcho, I cycle from ED to Earls Court each day. The route I take is thus: Start at Crystal Palace Road, up Lordship Lane to the Plough, turn right at library down Eynella road, turn right at park, down Court Lane, right at traffic lights onto Dulwich Village, left onto village way and onto Half Moon lane. Turn right at Brockwell Park / Herne Hill Junction, onto Dulwich Road and down to Brixton Water Lane, turn right on Effra Road, left at St Matthews church, cut through behind Brixton Town Hall and on to Acre Lane and Clapham Park Road to Clapham Common Tube station. Turn onto The Pavement (road name not the sidewalk) follow Clapham Common North Side and take a sneaky right using the pedestrian Crossing onto Elspeth Road, down to Lavender hill. Straight over at the lights onto Latchmere Road, down to Battersea Bridge Road and Battersea Bridge. Left at end of the bridge onto Cheyne Walk, straight over at the lights onto Gunter Grove and then Finborough Road and left onto Lillie Road. This takes me about 35 minutes but will of course depend on what bike you are riding and your fitness levels & speed. I would estimate another 10-15 mins to White City but I've never been up there so could be way off with this. Hope this helps.

I'll be there on Sunday with the HMU petanque squad. We'll be drinking cider and playing petanque on the red gravel football pitch. Come say hello, maybe you could chuck a few spheres.

Post Office delivery problems again?
Horsebox replied to char1ie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm awaiting a delivery, a package from Italy. Was really hoping to get it on my return from holiday but it's not yet arrived. I know that other people who ordered the same thing have got it as it was an ebay bid which finished on the same day. I made swift payment and the seller has confirmed dispatch so I might have to stroll down there tomorrow and ask a few probing questions. -
Petanque Tournament this sunday - Battersea Park, free for all!

Donc moi aussi, Je suis un clodo que bois le Ricard. Not many of the French tramps I know actually drink Ricard. It's un peut trop cher and they tend to prefer a can or six of Amsterdam beer. James, I think you should come along. If you don't like the game then we can just hang out in the park, drink Ricard and curse at the general public. -

We had a great time. Good fun but little success. I've made a post in the other thread about. Thanks for asking, DC.
