Southwark Council - the new Banksy?
Horsebox replied to neilson99's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not sure that the comparison with Banksy is entirely justified, neilson99. At least Southwark council are trying to get a message across... -

That wasn't a complaint, just a question ;-) -

No spoilers for those still on S1...apparantly this was going to be explored further down the line but it was never gotten around to. I watched S1-3 with my lady, who is French, and who therefore needed the subs or it was game over. It did help me massively to understand what was being said. I then watched S4 + 5 alone for whatever reason, sans subs, and found that I had to work a little harder to get everything, but I enjoyed it more as I was focusing more on what was going on and not on the script at the bottom of the screen. *Bloody French keyboard*(6) E2A: Ive still not seen the last 2 episodes of S5

So fitz, are you suggesting that people simply accept mediocre products? Surely (and this applies to anywhere) if someone pays for something with their hard-earned, they are entitled to voice their opinion on what was wrong (or right)with it? i tend to know or at least ask about the ingredients in most things i order to eat or drink. Does this preclude me from complaining if i feel something is not up to scratch? -
No, not particularly good. I've only had one take away from here so not exactly a scientific test but enough to put me off going back. There are plenty of others with differing opinions, I'm sure. Have a little search around...

Seconded Re Nisha (Val's store), she is always really friendly and I'd rather pay a few pence over the odds for a bit of friendly conversation and excellent cooking tips to boot.

Forest Hill Road Coffee Shop - Now Open

I wonder, can the title of this thread be changed? Each time it rears it's head I see it and think "Is that place still not open?" before clicking on the thread to see what the delay was and reading all the wonderful comments. Just a thought, like.:) -
I'm sorry, what is this Chapel Project that you speak so highly of?
-
The fact that Sue felt it necessary to make a thread about it says something to me - and the title of the thread It reads like a warning, no? The mention of 'merry talking' as artifice makes the whole incident sound slightly sinister and dishonest, in my very humble opinion.
-
That's quite an accusation.

There's a temporary generator running at the top of CP Road, and a team of Virgin media techies working in the exchange box nearby. Not sure if it's related but its local news, especially exciting as it's a friday night.

It's back on now.

Still not restored. I'm on crystal palace road. The yellow shop is out, the castle is out, meaning plans to have a swift pint or 2 instead of working were scuppered by warm pints :-( might head down to LL for something more rewarding. My mother in law is arriving from paris in a couple of hours and i'm supposed to be cooking dinner tonight. Looks like a trip to franklins is on the cards... (am posting from my phone btw)

You must be very, very bored.

LibraCarr, Dulwich PS does not have a canteen and as for your statement that "all nicks have good canteen facilities", let's just say the moral of the story is not to assume. Tony L.S. is on point when he says these guys are entitled to buy their lunch wherever they want. Furthermore, it's of benefit to the community that Police officers and MPS employees use local establishments. The proprietors of such places are often a good source of intel as what is going on in the local area and so forth. Slightly petty that your respect for them is lost over this minor issue. E2A: Nero, the reason you will often see 3 PCSO's rather than 2: it's the standard number of PCSO's on each Safer Neighbourhood team. It's a safety issue, Nero. They are not permitted to patrol alone.

What does it all mean(?) I'm confused by the thread.

I think I'll cope just fine without your sympathy, Jimbob, but thanks all the same for the heads up.

I think we spoke about this before, ben, when you were considering cycling to work. (Did we?) I am pretty much in agreement with MM here. I'll always stop at busy junctions and ped crossings, certainly when they are about to be used, but if empty and/or clear then i will take advantage of this and coast through. What makes me chuckle is the number of cyclists that deem it their right to ignore EVERY red light or crossing. As i tend to ride a lot faster than many (whilst maintaining complete control and having an excellent sense of what is going on around me, i must stress) i always catch them up, pass them and then watch them jump the next set of lights that i stop at. I laugh too in the face of angry drivers that won't yield a half metre or so to let me pass them, saving a precious few seconds on their journey, only for me to whizz by shortly after as they sit in traffic. (Sorry about any errors on this post but am posting from my phone.)
