ED is becoming less diverse as a result of recent Demog. changes (Lounged)
Mark replied to snorky's topic in The Lounge
as Mockney pointed out, please can we leave out the "ethnic cleansing" bit from this argument, I too believe it's not something to be bandied around lightly -

That's monster raving loony talk CWALD, and please enlighten me, people with ASBOs fall under which of the following: "national, ethnical, racial or religious group"? -
Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but surely if a similar scenario occurs on another street ... we should all be responding in the same manner that we have here. perhaps yes, if something wants to open that the majority of the locals want, and it would be beneficial to the people in the area then it should be looked at favourably. Unless it's in my backyard of course then there no way Jos? that that thing is happening near me ;-)

true Keef and it would be different if it was a builders yard, firing range, chemical storage facility etc etc but it's not. It's warehouse that's supporting small individual businesses and seems to be wanted by the majority however I understand the residents of that street are worried because of the uncertainty of what it will bring them. I'm all for raising objections to anything unwanted and that's what's been done and we'll see if those who make decisions act on those. I think it's a shame that people want it closed before it's opened as it's such a good idea. And before you ask, no I don't live on Zenoria Street.
-
Am I right in thinking that to get to the ED Warehouse from Lordship Lane you don't walk past any residential properties? I know that's not main point but it's a point. Also a letter was hand posted to the all the residents of the street by a concerned fellow resident, would anyone care to tell us what it said? I have a feeling it didn't say let's welcome this new local establishment with open arms.

Apparently there's going to be an stall selling oysters, a 2nd hand furniture stall and a record/vinyl/CD stall amongst others.

I want to show a message at the top of a page depending on where a user has arrived from. To clarifiy: I go to www.sitey.co.uk, this has a redirect in place that goes to site X (sitex.co.uk), site X recognises that I've come from site Y and shows a message. The rule will be: If person arrives at website X having been redirected from a certain url (or urls) then show a message. it'll be something like [pre] [/pre] any ideas?

Just to reiterate again what others have said so that hopefully some others get the picture, my neighbours that I know are Swedish, Canadian, English, Polish, Irish, Indian and Scottish. It's not just a visual black and white thing anymore and so in answer to the question no, I don't think East Dulwich is becoming less diverse. -
There's talk of Sugar on the forum here

How many Residents of Zenoria St are you speaking on behalf of Residents Zenoria St?

from Clerkenwell looking east

I can see it from Clerkenwell, it's massive. Phone picture coming shortly

I've had a look inside and it's defiantly going to be a good addition to the area and now there's a sign outside it saying it's opening mid-November so I guess in the next week or so. There was also a centre page ad about it in the last SE22 magazine.

All Bar One is looking for ED home/Franklins organics in LL (Lounged)
Mark replied to Quaywe's topic in The Lounge
very true bejanminty, but the original post did say that All Bar One are looking for site here. Mitchells and Butler (who also have the Plough and the Crown & Greyhound) may be looking to open a Browns or an O'Neils but I didn't ask them that. -

I asked Mitchells and Butler (who own All Bar One) if there were any plans afoot to open an All Bar One in East Dulwich, i was told: "I've just spoken to the director of All Bar One who tells me that there's no current plans." I hear Heathrow Terminal 6 is going to use Lordship Lane as its main runway. Discuss. -
I discovered my dog has turned into a bit of a locksmith. I stuck a poker up his arse and he made a bolt for the door. (from Popbitch)

I see Rev Joel Edwards, General Director of the Evangelical Alliance, has been appointed as a commissioner to the Equality and Human Rights Commission. This should be interesting as the Evangelical Alliance campaigns to undermine women's rights to choose an abortion. They're also anti-gay. Don't they read people's CV before they appoint them?

If there was an All Bar One, wouldn't that mean that all the other pubs in the area would be free of the All Bar One "type"? -
sorry off topic but Foxtons related: we were walking past Foxtons Late on a Saturday night a couple of weeks a go I saw this just inside their door: it's a piece of cardboard which had been put through their letter box saying "TURN YOUR LIGHTS OFF"
-
Just gonna slip this one in as I don't want to start another Foxtons thread: I know of someone who's got a Foxton's for sale sign outside their property which is fair enough but she didn't like the fact that they're advertising their 0% commission on it. She wrote a letter to Foxtons saying there would be a ?20 a day advertising charge on the 0% sign and hey presto, there's no longer a 0% sign on the For Sale board. Good work although I expect she would rather the ?20 a day. Sorry, can't really comment on the Mini's apart from it's put me right of Minis which used to be cool but every time I see one now I think of an estage agent which is a shame as the Mini Clubman had a lot of potential. Oh, and at least Foxtons aren't driving Hummers.

www.tesco.com/entertainment/product.aspx?R=818488&bci=4|Games you have to cut and paste that link ?33.24 The description says Bundle Contents: An Xbox 360 console + 2 games + Wireless Controller. What happens if you order this thinking you'll get an Xbox 360 console + 2 games + Wireless Controller?

Good point, I'll have to have a think about the least offensive method to the users and then the programming and whether it's possible on this system.
-
I think that would be annoying to the majority peckhamboy, like those "are you sure?" Windows buttons.
-
I have added "Please search for a cleaner/builder/tiler etc before posting a wanted ad" next to the text box in the wanted section, but I don't know other than that. I'll wait for an idea to arrive and then try that. Making people put an "I'm looking for" question in the wanted section is hard enough [edited once]

Nero Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is there a system in place so that each forumite can only post once? There should be yes, why can you vote twice? It does seem though that if you go to the best bar vote via the Lounge then you can revoke your vote then vote for someone else. Now removed Did everyone get an email last night about the voting?
