  1. I don't think the Artusi menu is that limited - fair bit of choice and fantastic aperitivo drinks. ToastED is good quality but a bit wanky - plus no normal sides means you generally leave hungry.
  2. Yep - Crooked Well, Artusi, ToastED, Ganapati or The Camberwell Arms (quite interesting menu, no pub staples!)
  3. Unless the higher bits are also over your boundary. Offer them the chance to remedy it, but with a deadline and on that date, you will begin. Perhaps they could come round and see it from your garden, might help empathy a bit. Otherwise, sneak over and lime it.
  4. It's called Camberwell Station Road after all, rather tantalisingly. Might help the appalling traffic if more people took the train and (yes, again) buses to Elephant were looked at correspondingly...
  5. Camberwell would be by The Bear, correct? Would both DH and LJ lines stop there? Might be useful for many in the immediate area. That stretch is very nippy up to Elephant...
  6. Isn't the hoarding on Bellenden Road (next to the sadly doomed chocolatier) also to be a kids play/cafe thing?
  7. I think Clapham is the ground zero. Mind you, Putney and Wimbledon are also hubs for the worst of people. I see Brixton as just 'south', neither east or west. Camberwell and East Dulwich are similar, but sneak into SE. Peckham definitely so.
  8. I agree with all of that, with one exception. East London has had far more investment in transport than West for the last 20 years or so. Yes a lot has been Docklands and Olympics led, but it still stretched far and wide across East London.

I quite enjoyed the recent Pexmas > "munch" thing. Although admittedly the "panel > discussions" were a bit of a strange idea... the Christmas market was pretty tragic - didn't make the munch thing. Much prefer that indoor market in the Bussey that's occasionally on.

The slightly sorrowful Pexmas markets pull the naming off I suppose, but they're given that X.
  11. 'Newisham' I believe it is, now that Jonathan Downey has turned his eyes to it. I have also heard attempts at 'Pecksvegas'.

Four - two separate lines by that point with no intertwining to keep things tidy. The quicker route to Lewisham should go on the longest journey, I guess. A bit like pretending the Victoria and Piccadilly from Kings Cross were the same line in Central London, but then split off and Lewisham would be the 'Finsbury Park' - cross platform changing, but separate.

As long as they are 100% separate with no mixing between them - to avoid a mess like Camden Town or Earls Court and to a lesser degree, Kennington.
  14. I just don't get that misty-eyed pining for the quintessential English village and that whole green and pleasant land crud. We live in buzzy, creative, dynamic London where things happen and that malarkey is irrelevant and frankly, alien. But still it's a yardstick for certain folk re: London neighbourhoods.

I knew you meant Dulwich, my points stands that London as a whole has not been country villages for a long time. And when they were, they were actually in the countryside! People can like a 'villagey feel' but by no means should it be a reason to mark down a big city. Oxymoronic to say the least. But it's that awful tweeness in our false British psyche - village green cricket and all that. Despite the fact that we are a country of car dependent suburbanites. Disingenuous nonsense. Us in SE5/SE15 and yes the beauteous SE22, are in the minority living in period housing which isn't in decaying post-industrial inner city areas.

Not since the 1700s has London had a country village feel. It's a huge global city, why would a village feel be an aspiration?! People should bugger off to Kent if that's what they want. Ludicrous. SE has never been better - it's just that SE5 and SE15 are now far more interesting, varied, creative and better connected than SE22.

There is so much idiocy in this post, it's hard to know where to begin. Are newcomers not 'locals' even if permanently resident? Do you suppose the people here talking about the area 20-30 years ago consider you, at 4 years, to be long-standing? What respect should you be shown, that you weren't? Does that directly correlate to your 4 year tenure? Who should pubs be for? Perhaps some helpful signs on the doors would help? Please elaborate...
  18. TfL are surely the ones to decide though. I don't think local councils have much clout on issues like this, beyond some diluted lobbying ability. Do TfL care, when it's the developers who call the tune? Perhaps a compromise route would be down the OKR but then swing south to Peckham Library/Centre and then onwards east again? Totally misses Camberwell though - and probably too far north for Peckham Rye station too, hence not great in terms of interchanges.
  19. Cashino surely? Like the 'Walworth Slots'. There are limits on the amount of machines (as with bookies) - hence they now open in multiples on the same high streets.
  20. The new owners have Oddbins as the best it's ever been - selection is brilliant and wins awards for buying. Agree it's a chain etc, but shed a lot of branches so more focused, and better than an estate agent...
  21. I'd think that a second Camberwell branch would be relatively short - to be an inner city service and allow less tubes (terminus closer to town). Maybe Walworth Road/Burgess Park, Camberwell Green, Denmark Hill (v close to each other, but a must for connections), East Dulwich, Dulwich Library, Forest Hill - maybe Catford. That's surely enough. The other one I'd not send past Lewisham - taking over St Johns station for good and getting rid of the New Cross overground branch, and sending those trains elsewhere on the route.
  22. Kettle drum barbie with the lid on, and go out for a walk.

  24. There should be an app. I can add credit to Kabbee for example and it's live. Anyone could add credit from anywhere. Bus Oyster sensors should be able to update and touch in simultaneously.
