  1. had a few mad nights in adventure bar, funnily enough preceded by drinks in kebab & wine....
  2. i subtly > emerged from under the desk and started working. how can you ever manage to 'subtly' emerge from under a desk? genuinely curious.
  3. oh you know, east dulwich: teeth whitening capital of SE London, its the first place you'd search for advice.
  4. did someone actually pay for that 'article'? Is it a daily mash spoof? someone actually spent time writing that crap. I can't believe I spent time skim reading it. Who buys this rubbish?
  5. dunno about enjoyable spats (oh okay then, all the ones before my time e.g. the piano for sale involving starbobstar & alan dale).. but there are certainly some 'forum double acts' that are hilarious (mick mac and alan for starters). recall some laughing out loud at various threads - foie gras, goose green squatters, daffodil picking, the one where hibbs joined in, anything involving hooch and ted max, D-C vs crackpot snake oil woooo homeopathic medicine enthusiasts, hunting in east dulwich courtesy of BBW, lady D giving it large! :)
  6. no
  7. I missed it but read all about it on twitter. Dancing teacakes, scottie dogs. Sounds fab! Wish I could take HMB up on his offer :(
  8. How about standing outside your front door wearing only a nightdress and a pair of marge simpson 'novelty' slippers, whilst vigorously shaking a packet of tuna dreamies? Is that deemed acceptable with the fine residents of East Dulwich Road?
  9. I love it when it is constantly raining, please stop making me jealous El Pibe!
  10. wondered when this topic would crop up again, bbw beat you to it MM. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1086996,1086996#msg-1086996 and battery technology and energy storage have been at the forefront of most top research institutes for the last decade or more. I don't think we realise how far we have come, not saying we are 'there' yet.
  11. I think its more a generational thing rather than a north/south thing womanofdulwich. I know families from opposite ends of the country who are like this, as well as ones who aren't. Sometimes it depends how it is said (eg. don't tell him he'll get big headed), it can be an affectionate way of acknowledging you have done well really.
  12. "Soft closing toilet seats." - where's the irrational rage thread when you need it? Feckin hate these things. no "high tech" remote lighting shower cooker controls that take hours to work out how to use and/or don't work properly even when you do. boot scraper if you're rural. more than 3 clothes hangers. must be detachable from clothes rail think you need to work out your target market and furnish accordingly. however, good quality bedlinen, towels, toiletries, candles, matches, kitchen utensils, glassware and crockery will always be appreciated. freshly cut flowers, local produce and wine in fridge are a lovely welcoming touch. agree about having recommendations of things to see and do nearby. good luck!
  13. Have you been searching for this since the 1980s? Iceland/Waitrose - no joy?
  14. Long answer: Firstly, narrow your search criteria down to compare just 3 makes/models (This is what I did and it really helped). Go to the AA/HonestJohn/WhatCAr/Moneysavingexpert for advice on buying a second-hand car. I wouldn't buy a second-hand car from anywhere other than a reputable dealer or somewhere local with an excellent reputation. Look at the stats for dealers nationwide and check out car user forums for the make/model you want (sounds like a chore but well worth it to get a sense of what people really think of their purchases and experiences with certain dealerships). Once I knew what brand/model I wanted I negotiated money off the list price as well as a 'free' service. Do your sums. I would never buy a used car that was over 5 yrs old or had high mileage because I know jack all about cars and maintenance. If you are quite practical in that way, it might be worth it though. Short answer: Skoda

I think it was the segregation bit that set me off on one.

  20. aw how lovely, I hope you get lots of donations. I remember all the children in rural villages would ask for pencils too. So many simple things we take for granted here.
  21. Never but the Sun but had a flick they the free copy what a pile of shit couldn't get last the second page and the crappy 'article' on English Roses can't believe people read this crap.

I'm sure if I went I'd find it interesting. Changing my list above, I would never boo England! In fact I'm more I'm it for the cheering aspect than the booing!
  23. Thought you weren't allowed to aim for the face!!! Perhaps it's changed since I last went (90s)! Paintball does hurt. (Ah sorry SJ you'd already apologised I shouldn't have brought it up again. )
