  1. Claudia Winkelman's white lipstick. (yup i hate those noisy feckers that have discussion in quiet carriages too. in fact, anyone that breathes in the Quiet carriage should be shot. its actually less stressful and more peaceful to travel in a non-busy 'normal' carriage. there's always a mounting air of tension in the Quiet coach as more and more people get on the train).
  2. Meant to also say I think all that sugar substitute stuff is disgusting and tastes so artificially sweet it must be doing something to change people's palates and make them immune to sickly sweet processed crap. Or something.
  3. For a minute I thought I was in the East Dulwich issues section. Not surprised this was lounged. The only time I can remember really noticing the noise from planes was during one of the Shakespeare on the Rye productions when a few planes went by in fairly quick succession. Other than that, it wasn't any more noticeable or distracting than other city noises (to me anyway).
  4. I've never been on one. Would love to try them. Otta - if you truly didn't mind the old bendy buses then you clearly never travelled on the 12 route. Sheer hell.
  5. The body cannot distinguish between added sugars and naturally occurring sugars. And what El Pibe said. There's no such thing as bad and good sugars. I had a guided tour round a sugar factory's CHP plant, and was told precisely this. So it must be true ;-) It's also one of the most common questions asked by visitors as well as 'is brown sugar better for you than white' (nope). There's an excellent sugar fact sheet (.pdf) at the bottom of this page from http://www.sugarnutrition.org.uk/what-is-sugar.aspx (I couldn't paste it here, you'll be relieved to know)

You didn't grow up in the 1980s South Bronx by any chance? ;-)
  7. I would see a random stranger sticking their fingers up at me as an unwelcome, aggressive and threatening gesture. I would probalby feel quite vulnerable if I had young children in my care as I would want to avoid confrontation and so feel unable to retaliate. clearly some on here think its an acceptable way to behave but I don't think it sets a good example particularly to young uns.

ah ok thats good to know, am sure I always see sean instead of strafterjack anyway! :) and no, nothing will convince me that I was wrong to elicit a very loud laugh when I heard that Labour were worried about reckless & irresponsible spending. nothing. that vital services including e.g. libraries are being shafted at the moment doesn't please me one bit, many other things too. but my initial point was a comment upon the budget and people being able to spend their own savings how they please.

yes Otta I pretty much agree with that summing up. I am not one of the blame EVERYTHING on past governemnts, no government gets it right all of the time. although strafer saying "thats more like it" comes across as unless he agrees with your viewpoint then you're in the wrong. edit: and sorry meant to say strafer not call you any other name beginning with S. apologies for that.

ok straferjack whatever we had, gordon brown spent it. you name it. just one example he spent billions on the health service and what do we have to show for it? (I am a full supporter of the NHS and education for all before you accuse me of being I'm alright jack) so when the storm arrived/shit hit the fan etc etc, we had nothing to brave it with. the money was all gone. thats my view. cooking dinner at the moment will be back to this thread but honestly,if I am not allowed a chuckle at that remark on the radio well I'm speechless. for once. edited: sorry used wrong name.

Don't put words in my mouth Straferjack. Who are these "some people love that one" that you are referring to. So what if my opinion differs to yours. I do think that previous Labour government's have been irresponsible and reckless with other people's money. I didn't say, nor imply, that they were solely responsible for global financial meltdown. In fact, I don't think I said anything about global financial meltdown but there you go.

Just heard on radio that Labour are worried about people being 'reckless and irresponsible' with money. Their own money at that. Ah well, makes a change from them doing it for us I s'pose. Thanks Mr Balls, if that wasn't so hapless it would almost be funny.
  14. IMO the OP was antagonistic and it all went, predictably, downhill from there.

East Dulwich - I hope you've all set your alarm clocks to 4.24 am.
  16. no, fabfor, that is not EXACTLY what trolls do at all. But I get the feeling you won't listen to anyone but yourself. Have your say folks (some more than others), you're on the right thread.
  17. Can see why the OP was angry and wanted to vent but this short, balding, bespectacled man with poor taste in ill-fitting lycra has already shamed himself by sticking his fingers up at a mother in front of her young children. There's never an excuse for that disgusting behaviour. sounds like jogging in London isn't for him really.
  18. blimey almighty. people not spending the whole fifteen minutes they are paid for to interact with moggy/exploitation of workers/child labour/alienation/accusations of pretentiousness. this thread has it all. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1286026,1288402#msg-1288402

  20. I've just heard the sound of daffodils being savagely wrenched from the ground. Absolutely deafening.

I agree it may be better to approach such companies directly but as an ED resident who wants to make use of a local, family forum it would have been nice to think there was a part of the forum the OP could have used. Can't imagine posting in the business section would have attracted comments from local businesses such as "show us the money shot".
  22. ugh. this thread is reminiscent of one from years back where an (supposedly) attractive young woman posted a question and the responses were all from, let me hazard a guess, older men. Good luck OP, hope you find sponsorship. Might attract less weirdos in the ED Business section, I dunno. Edit: sorry, didn't mean that everyone posting was a weirdo, just some. edited again: grammar
  23. I'll swap a run-down poky cottage in rural Norfolk for an isolated croft in the Outer Hebrides. Permanently. Or has this thread already died?
  24. OK then, consider my bin well & truly moved along. (oops thanks for that ZT, apols if I got your previous post wrong) http://27.media.tumblr.com/SmJQdyebri5reai03wH0MLXWo1_500.jpg edited to (1) add apol (2) to predict that there will be 3 more posts on this thread.
