To put burning butts in? Or a normal street bin which the smokers can put their extinguished butts in? If that is what you mean then you are dreaming. There is even a wall mounted ashtray outside the solicitors' office which gets ignored. From what I can see, a lot of smokers justify their throwing butts on the pavement on the grounds that its still burning and by doing that it is safer. If that is their reasoning, then carry a portable ashtray and or a cup/bottle of water, use that and then put in bin.

Based on your posting history it's a bit much for you to criticise any efforts ot make this area a better environment. Bookhopper, there are such things as portable ashtrays. And if you don't have one a disposable cup with water in it works just fine. And see below. It's obvious you didn't read the thread. The solicitor office does provide a wall bin but the employees don't use it. After I said something to one of them she picked it up and deposited it in the bin despite telling me it was biodegradable. Il Mirto has tables outside which could/should have ashtrays on them. It is the owner of the business who sits out there and smokes as well as employees.
  3. It's to do with litter. The point I am trying to make is that smokers should dispose of their butts not by throwing them on the ground as that is littering, but by putting them in suitable receptacles which should either be carried by the smokers or provided by employers. Even though the solicitor has an ashtray on the wall outside their office doesn't seem the employees seem to think it is OK to litter the streets. I am bemused that there are so many places within a stone's throw of each other where this goes on. I have not singled out the estate agent.

Because she was a lazy mare. Hardly insulting, just a fact. Perhaps it was you pk? Or that is the type of behaviour you regularly engage in.
  5. Eater81 - I don't spy on these people. Three of the businesses are on Melbourne Grove which I walk down regularly. One business is on Grove Vale which I also walk down regularly.
  6. I disagree Paragon. It's not a matter of instilling fear, just common sense.
  7. The other tea I like but haven't bought in a while is the Marks and Spencer teabags which come in a blue box. The Typhoo one doesn't have any bitterness to my mind. It all depends on how strong you like it as to how long to leave in. I like medium to strong.

Banish the weak > teabag blues once and for all. Yorkshire comes in different types, be warned. You might get confused. A friend of mine who lives in France always buys it as she feels one bag makes enough for two cups. She always uses a teapot to make her tea as she feels using one bag in a mug is a waste. It certainly is considering the tea in France is dire.
  9. Barry's Tea has more than one type. There is a green box and I think the other colour is red. I have tried the green box and it was OK. I do think it depends on what the water is like as to what the tea is like. London water and especially South London is very hard. Rington's is another tea I like but really really hard to find here.

Yes. Only after I shouted after her after she walked away. Yes. No. I don't want her to do it again.

The tea I forgot the name of is Typhoo. Really good builder's tea in my opinion.
  12. Nothing to do with paedophiles, Paragon. How about people who want to push the door in and rob you? People who want to pretend to read your gas or electricity meter etc. Or even just people who want to sell you something and won't go away. Not everyone on your doorstep is a benevolent being unfortunately.
  13. The red ones I use aren't Tazo. Maybe catering type ones are weak. I found those Everyday ones in the yellow box to be weak. Can't remember the brand. I still have a foil pack in my cupboard as an 'emergency' supply.
  14. Maybe they are buying cheap tea bags in order to save money or reusing some. Do you always get the tea bag in your cup, mug or pot? You could always ask what brand they use as well. I find the one in the red box to be good. Usually on special offer at Lidl or Iceland.
  15. Why do you all answer the door if you aren't expecting anyone? Or else go to the door, ask who it is, don't open it and tell them you will call police if they don't leave immediately. I hope that you are training your kids not to answer the door to all and sundry. I have had too many unpleasant experiences with odd balls and cold callers to open my door now.

  17. Pigeon spikes on your window sill would help. What about some chicken wire around the flowerbed? Definitely borrow a cat chasing dog if you can. Not cat eating, just chasing before anyone objects.
  18. Sounds like 'Blue Sky' thinking to me!B)
  19. Another fire at a tower block in New Cross.

You make an excellent argument. If that were me I would just toss the underpants. Having to do that a few times would add up to the cost of a porta potty. I can't imagine little girls like being lifted up in the air in order to do their weeing in public. It looks embarrassing so I would imagine it feels it.

Potty wee would be poured in the drain hopefully. So why don't more people use that for their little ones?
  22. It's the blimmin' chef who smokes and discards out there! Very funny though

    Cool fashion

Spanx in the summer? Spanx in centrally heated homes? Ooh sweaty. Bring back coal fires?
  25. This mother and child didn't pee in or near the playground. They crossed the road to Goose Green proper. Locale was closer than doing this. She didn't have any other kids with her. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have some kind of portaloo next to playground.
