  1. I want a new blue box! charliecharlie, Container for non-recyclable waste - what kind of waste specifically?
  2. Me. I would like a kitchen caddy! Are you in Keston Road? PM me your address and I could pick it up if you leave it outside.
  3. Toddinator, It would be great if all children and dogs were all under control. Dogs aren't allowed inside the cafe though. Are you talking about inside or out? The dogs I mentioned weren't having a sniff or wagging their tails, they were ganging up on other dogs and causing a ruckus. I really don't think you go to Dulwich Park Cafe for a peaceful tea and cake. I know I don't......
  4. Totally agree, but apparently some people on here think that isn't the right thing to do. I think it should be extended to don't open your door at any time to people you don't know. Creepy callers don't only come out at night.
  5. Oh, I thought you were supposed to leave the bags inside the small bins outside on day of collection, not put into large brown bin. Seems bizarre to have a teeny tiny bag at the bottom of large brown bin. And am I also meant to throw garden waste on top of those bags?
  6. Thanks Molly. It's a bit odd that they deliver the bags and you have to request the bin. My neighbours have some sort of smallish sized brown bin sitting out in their front garden. It doesn't look like the one in your picture though. Their house is in two flats though.
  7. I didn't get a new blue box and am in pilot scheme. I only received the food waste bags - no small brown bin to put them in. Are we meant to still use the newspaper bags? At the moment I use those and smallish old blue bin.
  8. There is an irresponsible female owner of three schnauzers in Dulwich Park. Her dogs are always off the lead, and not under control. They are always rushing up to other dogs and people, howling and barking. The other day she was sitting in the cafe area while her dogs were running around loose. They kept approaching other dogs entering the cafe area and barking at them. Her dogs come haring over to me and my dog and surround us while barking. Whenever I have said something to her, she just says Oh sorry........she seems to have no concept that three dogs are a pack and she needs to keep them under control. I only posted this to vent really. This kind of person also gives dog owners a bad name.
  9. I sacked a cleaner after I found out she had been making hour long phone calls to the same number while in my house every day she was there. She used to leave lots of jobs undone that I had asked her to do as well. She didn't use her initiative at all. I also found the cat's (dirty) litter pooper scooper on top of the kitchen counter one day when I came home from work. I 'inherited' her from the people I bought the house from. I assumed she would be reliable etc. as they had used her. I have a real problem with the idea of leaving someone in my house when I am not there because of this. Would only want a cleaner if I could be there to supervise.
  10. Sorry to hear this. What did the police say about the removal of the window? Common or uncommon? My windows are hooked up to my alarm. Do you have side access to your garden or did they come over the fence? Have the police given you any useful advice?
  11. Southwark Council Street Market section and the Environmental Health Department should be able to supply these answers. I think the butcher selling meat has a generator which supplies the refrigeration for the meat. The fish man has ice. Some of the traders have boxes with those ice packets in them. I don't like the fact that a lot of food is left uncovered allowing flies etc to land but you often see that in shops as well.

    Zippos Circus ..

How long is the circus in town for?
  17. Pearson, you stay in Northcross Road and go 'wondering' through the stalls, ha, meeting your other friend? You only have one? Not surprising. You are the one who is childish in running down the Elephant and Castle market on the thread I posted. You don't even live there.
  18. Pearson, I am not asking anyone to move there. You've made your point that you don't like the area. I like trying different places with different foods and I know that there are others out there like me. So please stop running down the area for no reason. The Elephant is being revitalized and the market is changing all the time. They even have an Marks and Spencer which ED doesn't have.
  19. I do go to Borough Market DM. Just not on a Sunday. I didn't get sick after I had my langos last week and summer roll. So I will go there again. I also didn't get sick after I had Arturo's tacos there and at Lower Marsh. I even go to Deptford for Vietnamese food. Quel horreur!
  20. The Sunday market is in the lower part of the Elephant Shopping Centre. I drive there and you can park for free on Sundays. I don't go into the main roundabout area but just park around the Kwik Fit shop just before. It's easiest to approach from the Heygate Estate side then just go down and walk around. There is also a Polish restaurant inside upstairs inside and a Columbian place to have good coffee and things like empanadas and that caramel stuff made with evaporated milk. AND there are a few pound store type places inside if you like a bargain. Who doesn't! I am sure even Waitrose shoppers do!
  21. Axeman, you are the one who had distracted from the course of this thread. You and Pearson (man/woman?) are sadly typical of some of the snobs who live around here. You probably wouldn't set foot in the new revitlised Brixton Market which I have also posted about.
  22. Please see this link to Arturo's stall: I found him at Lower Marsh, then tipped Helen off to him and she actually went all the way to the Elephant - gasp! http://helengraves.co.uk/2010/05/buen-provecho-seriously-good-mexican-street-food/
  23. Pearson and Axeman, I am sure that the Elephant won't miss your presence. If you are interested in street food from other countries then it is worth a visit.

  25. Pearson, I can assure you that the Elephant market is more interesting than Northcross Road. Sausages weren't there last week. Quids, ?
