  1. Where is the Florence? I look forward to seeing the new incarnation of the Wishing Well. Can you get some good dry cider in please, not Bulmers or Magners. Maybe some French stuff like they have in Green and Blue. The pub at Denmark Hill Station has a great selection and they do Cider Festivals. They have a large selection and let me try a few samples before I ordered a pint. Franklins has Aspalls. The Drum had awful cider in my opinion. Will well behaved dogs be welcome? When did kids start to be prevalent in pubs? Is it only since the smoking ban? I thought they were only allowed to be in dining areas for the purpose of eating at a table. It's refreshing to hear that there will be an area for adults only.
  2. Check with your neighbours to see if they have them too. Mine had an infestation and I could hear them running underneath the floorboards in the room above when I was in the kitchen. I caught a few in my house but the pest control company said they caught thirty next door. I used gel traps and rat poison in hidden places like the cellar. I could hear them crunching away on the poison. Found one dead from poison and two in a gel trap. It took the traps a while to work. I had tried the plastic reusable ones with peanut butter but no luck. With the gel traps you have to hide them and cover them. After the pest control guy was brought in next door I didn't see or hear any more.

Washington DC is not a state. It is in the District of Columbia. The state of Virginia borders it to the south. I consider that to be the beginning of the American South. They are not used to the type of snowfall they have had in the past few days unlike the uppper Eastern Seaboard and the Midwest which is often snow covered from November to March.

Use it as above and also for melting butter and defrosting. Reheating leftovers too and warming up milk. If you get a new one if might be better to get one that is a convection oven as well and then if your proper oven breaks you will have an alternative.
  5. Love lemon curd but haven't tried any other kind. Are you likely to make some Seville marmalade as I would certainly buy some from you. I saw your baking thread and your cakes look very tasty.
  6. I didn't know British Gas serviced under contract washing machines. I used to have a policy with them for my boiler but it became too expensive and I switched to a Thames Water contract. I now have a (free) contract with White Knight through my house insurance which fixes appliances 8 years or under. It also does boilers and doesn't specify an age on boilers. When you buy another machine then I would go to John Lewis. They have an automatic guarantee of 2 years on washing machines and for TVs 5 years. If I could afford a new machine then I would get a Miele but they are very expensive but oh so reliable. Everyone I know with a Miele loves it and has never had any problems. I also favour their vacuums. I have a Bosch washing machine which is now 7 years old and haven't had a problem with it yet.....
  7. Do you mean a flat in a block? Who is the landlord? I personally think that is a lot and it will only go up. Have owned a leasehold flat before and sold it. What do you get for 2k? Garage and swimming pool?
  8. There are quite a few pit crosses out there and alot come from Ireland. Wandsworth Council is coming down on irresponsible dog owners now. Think they require all their tenants to microchip their dogs and I believe they have to pass some sort of test before they are allowed to have dogs in council properties. I think there should a legal requirement for every dog to be microchipped.
  9. I still don't understand how this dog poisoner thread in Peckham Rye Park got started. I am really sorry to hear about the dogs in Beckenham Place Park.
  10. Carlton is really nice.
  11. I wish to offer you my sympathies for what happened to your dog. How horrifying for you and Woody. I cannot recall having seen this man or his dog. I hope you have insurance so they can pursue the owner for you. If not I would guess you could issue a small claims court summons. I used to have trouble with a Rottweiler going after my dog and others when I lived in another borough. The police were called one day by someone else because this dog was out of order and 4 police cars turned up. The dog was as nice as pie to the officers of course. I saw the dog once after that and was threatened by the owner (very scary) as he thought I had called the cops. I reported his threat and a policeman went to his home and after that I never saw the dog again. This dog had also bitten the hand of a woman who picked up her small dog which the Rottie was trying to attack. Sadly she refused to report the attack as she feared the dog would be put down and just decided not to go there again. Perhaps it would be good if you could have a chat with a sympathetic policeman and see if he/she can pay the guy a visit and hopefully feel his collar. If you want any help in taking anything further let me know.
  12. Wacky not whacky.
  13. Well Walmart obviously doesn't care so neither should Asda nor Tesco. http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/
  14. I found this today in Warwick Gardens. It has 2 velcro straps and a flashing light. PM me if it's yours. Also posted in the main section.
  15. I found this shoe in Warwick Gardens this afternoon. If it's yours then PM me. It has 2 straps with velcro on it and a flashing light.
  16. Thumbs up for this film. I also went in the middle of the afternoon, one of my favourite things to do. Saw it last year and thought it was exquisite.
  17. Paragraphs would be good. Next time he goes he should seek out some local residents to guide him around, both in and around Rye Lane, Peckham and East Dulwich. And why no description of his visit to East Dulwich?

    The Irony!

I think davidC would prefer Waitrose Organic. Have you asked them if where their eggs and chicken come from as well?

Wonder if it is only at rush hours. I have avoided the East Dulwich Rd/Peckham Rye intersection for the last two months. Prior to the work starting, I hated turning right from ED Road onto Peckham Rye. Without fail cars and vans would come barreling across from the Nunhead side, sometimes when I was already in a turn. It is very frightening there. Van drivers were definitely the worst. My condolences to LaToya's family. There was an item about her on the ITV local news today.

  21. Your cabin looks charming. How close is to the village? What is the parking like? Do you need a 4 wheel drive to reach the cottage?

Yes do this! One shot has magical powers. Coathanger is an excellent idea!! I use a twiggy stick.
  23. Vinnie now makes me think he is doing this so he can pay for his 'housekeepers' and cashmere socks. I still like Dane and Nicky. Alex is rather dumb and so desperate to be famous. Yeah he was funny when tied together with Dane but that isn't a reason to win. But what made it the funniest was because they both had 'been with' Katie Price. She dumped him, and then took him back. Why? I still don't get your celibrity misspelling. Why not slebrity?
  24. The transport links depend on which part you move to. You could be closer to North Dulwich, Peckham Rye or ED Station and/or the 12/40/185/176 bus. Best to wait and see what street/area you move to.
  25. Why not buy a shepee for your girl children? or shewee or the whiz. Some of them come with bags.
