It's a real shame that the cross river partnership failed in their bid to bring trams back to Peckham town centre and up to north of the river via Holborn ten plus years ago. My impression at the time was that local vocals both at this end of the route (mainly objecting to the depot being in the town centre) and at various points along the route caused it to lose support. Cross river were considering extending it to meet up with the Croydon tram if it was implemented How short sighted were people in objecting to it as it would have been a clean green transport method helping to reduce our reliance on cars.

Dawson Heights Major Works - Legal advice wanted
Spartacus replied to Jammers's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Do they give a breakdown of what is being done for the cost and why it is required ? That's your starting point to open discussions as you need to understand what and why before you can challenge the cost -
It gets better The EU are going to discuss stopping the plants producing the AstraZeneca vaccine from exporting it to countries like the UK. It really smacks of panic over there at the moment and could result in a situation of It's your ball as you paid for it, it's got a puncture..... oh sorry we didn't pump it up so it's okay to use now, but we don't agree with you using it so we're taking it away from you .... You couldn't make it up if you tried 😱 So glad our vaccination program is at 50% not 10%

US private hospital opening in Central London
Spartacus replied to Jules-and-Boo's topic in The Lounge
It's similar to BUPA hospitals I suspect, where NHS consultants also do private work in tandem to their full time jobs. It could well be related to the new US embassy in Vauxhall and the increase in American workers over here at the moment (wild guess) If it's just one hospital then it's not a big concern, but if the first of many then it possibly warrants a bit of concern. -
My advice, set up a proper website shop using one of the services like one 2 one my website or wix or similar where you can use templates then drag / drop items into the design. It will give you more control and you aren't excluding people who don't want to use face book (plus you don't have issues around facebook potentially having access to your clients data) Then you can link all your social media tools to it so a click on instagram will take clients to the buy me now page on your website Another advantage is you get a dedicated branded email address to that matches your website so if you use mail chimp or similar for marketing it all looks cohesive and a single brand.

Not sure this is the best thread to add this to. Just read that grants for switching to electric cars have been changed BBC News - Grants to buy electric cars to be cut to ?2,500 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56441639 Doesn't make it easy to move from fossil to ev as the cost of electric cars is potentially a limiting factor.

There have now been over 57thousand complaints to ofcom about Piers Morgan on good morning. Struth, that's shocking as I didn't think that many people actually watch the show 😱

There are some bus routes, not local , that aren't running due to a strike today. If the move is to use public transport more, and to drive car ownership and usage down then imagine the chaos a strike by any or all of the transport unions would cause. Whilst the overall goal is to increase public transport usage, there has to be viable alternatives available. Just look at the issues caused by road works on the ED roundabout this week where buses were terminating early. One solution doesn't fit all.

Apparently only another day, but that's a Conway estimate 😆

Roky, the vibration caused by cars and bigger vehicles passing over humps causes cracks to appear in plaster as the vibration acts like a shock wave.

Please help the campaign Fair Air for East Dulwich
Spartacus replied to Metallic's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There needs to be a single funding effort to do this and to fight for consultations on the the LTNs Although both things (air pollution monitoring and consultations) are the councils responsibility yet they are stubbornly and spectacularly failing to engage on both fronts. Maybe the funding would be better spent on a legal case to get the council to do the right thing and not fob us off with "covid restrictions" which isn't cutting the mustard any more. -
Interestingly, and I don't believe her, but someone I know swears blind that Americans speak the Queens English as it was when the founders left on the Mayflower and it's us who've dumbed it down. My counter argument with her is that she's referring to queens the NY district and not ER ii the Queen.
