  1. Don't forget the impact of the last banking crisis, covid, furlough and the energy price impact on the economy or aren't those factors that caused a financial black hole in your view of the world?
  2. I remember when "fly the flag" was the proud slogan of British Airways it all went pete tong when Concord was retired 😅
  3. So you are justifying building on the green belt, in Londons case "the lungs of London" which will causes harm to natures ability to turn co2 into o2?
  4. The change of use of the green belt to call it brown belt for building and overriding views of local councils and people on building large new estates in rural village areas cries out to me that she wasn't delivering what people wanted.
  5. I don't really care about political sleaze in this i am more concerned about thjle ability to run.a country without running it into the ground. Currently, labout seem to be heading straight towards the rocks, ignoring the warning blasts from the economic ighthouse.
  6. Sorry @malumbu do your own investigation into that I'm old enough to remember things like the mass unemployment in the late 70s (down to labour) along with inflation running high, 4 day weeks and so on. So its not just about sleaze but wrecking the economy.

  8. Guess the same could be said about short memories and the last few labour governments. Ultimately the grass is always greener...
  9. Good for you. So if you haven't then its not a danger to anyone else is what you are saying
  10. Unfortunately we do need a strong leader, which we haven't had for nearly 20 years now, to shape the future direction of this country. None of the currently leaders of any of the parties are strong in my opinion so regardless of what happens we are, well I am sure you get the idea 🙃
  11. I think this is the song for today
  12. If only Doris Stokes was still alive as she could contact Maggie who would sort this country out again. 😅
  13. Trouble at t' mill , now what a reshuffle of the cabinet ?
  14. That's alarming to hear
  15. Explains the mayhem at the library yesterday as 12s are also terminating early at Peckham rye due to road works in the library area and 40s are terminating at goose green
  16. Interesting timing of this thread @malumbu If I didn't know better I would say you've raised it to act as a deflection for the sh!t Rayner and Labour find themselves in today. One thing I've learnt is all politicians are in it for themselves and not us and if moving to the left or right gets them the results they want then they will.
  17. I am simply pointing out that if people aren't careful then they may type something that gets them in trouble, it wasn't a literal use of what Linehan had said but the simple fact that he was arrested for posting something and some posts in this thread are close to the edge (don't push me because....)
  18. Be careful that your* post isn't akin to the next "Graham Linehan" type that breaks the camels back. * refers to both sides of this discussion
  19. I guess Reeves will be supporting it as flag sales have gone up therefore taxes raised will increase Unless they are all made in a country with poor human rights standards and sent through the post so dont attract tax.
  20. I saw scouting for girls play once, does that count ?
  21. I miss the good old days where guides and scouts saluted the flag at the start of a meeting, old soldiers proudly ran a flag up every morning and it was seen as a symbol of pride, not division What has happened to the world?
  22. There is the Chelsea winter village https://chelsea-pensioners.co.uk/events/chelsea-winter-village-illuminations Christmas lights and windows in central London Not sure if winter wonderland is on Ice skating at Somerset house https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/whats-on/skate-somerset-house So many things to do.and see
  23. Why not post the contents of your email to them and their response, so we can see the waffle ?
  24. I sometimes wonder how deeper the financial £20 billion black hole would be if austerity didn't happen following big financial issues, including the banking crisis, covid and energy crisis (inflation)?
  25. @malumbu I don't know the answer either but I do know that floating multiple ideas leads to uncertainty and spooks the economy. If they want to grow it, they should be more cautious about what they say as they are currently in danger of digging the financial black hole deeper as markets and investors will be wary.
