  1. Relative value of land...
  2. That's a shame, always expensive but useful at times.
  3. I've been commuting by bike for a long time. I could not do without it. Echo all the advice above, regarding training and bike skills. Also a huge recommendation for the Bike Safe course with the police. Believe it or not, during normal commuting times you don't often need proper wet weather gear. No waiting for buses, no waiting for trains, don't have to worry when everyone at works is citing train cancellations...gives you massive freedom. Would also echo someone's comments above - from SE22 to the city, almost no difference in commute time between a motorbike and a bicycle. I do find the moto much more pleasant through winter though. Go for a 250cc scooter (125 is big enough for commuting but a pain for longer trips, especially A roads or motorways). And lock it up. Buy the best chains and locks you can, and a ground anchor.
  4. A radiator is addition to UFH can be a good idea...UFH is a lovely method but can be slow, if you've had it off, or the doors open...or...and it doesn't cost much more at installation stage.
  5. I thought the pizzas were great, but was always very empty when I went.
  6. Some scooters and motorcycles riding around the area are obscenely loud. The trend these days is for Moto-GP style short stubby silencers which do not have road legal baffles. There are no noise tests at higher revs for motorcycles during MOT. Even if there were, silencers are easily and quickly changed prior and post MOT. However it looks like these are coming, so maybe the days are numbered. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-noise-camera-trial-to-crack-down-on-illegal-vehicles
  7. I think it's a little out of order to replace it with a different size - I would take it back.
  8. Snathani, yes you might be right - I do avoid being anywhere near them now though whenever possible. Its the stretch around denmark hill station that seems to be the worst - or rather, where i normally experience them.
  9. Did anything happen with this?
  10. I did a workshop years ago, bought some all grain kit, and have never used it. Would love a bit of guidance!
  11. I think anything that is used on the road, that is powered, should be registered.
  12. Slightly off topic, but I pass Clarkes coaches often on my commute, in general they are very aggressive drivers, fast and pushy.
  13. I have found all of these carnivals/fairs of late too be pumping out the music at far too loud a volume. Too loud for when you are there, puts me right off visiting.
  14. No issues with the installation for me.
  15. I have had EE - was reliable. Switched to Plusnet due price - EE were poor at renegotiating once contract discount period had come to an end.
  16. Think I commented once before - heard a radio discussion last year about the scheme, and a report that the Mayor's office had conducted. From memory passenger cars accounted for 2% of the emissions the scheme is targeting. Taxi's, buses, heavy vehicles were the majority. It's a solely money making scheme IMO.
  17. I've received one letter saying things will change, circa a month or two ago, but nothing about signing up etc? How are you meant to know?
  18. Facetiously I would offer that the increase in casualties is due to the rapid increase in Uber Eats/Deliveroo etc motorcyclists and cyclists who seem to ride generally with no appreciation of personal safety.
  19. It's basically 2016 and later for Diesel vehicles - Euro 6 standard. If your car doesn't take "ad-blue" then it's probably not compliant.
  20. It's not a great scheme IMHO. I read somewhere that the GLA only has authority to charge, but not to ban, hence the congestion charge and now the ulez charge. I also read that private vehicles only account for 2% of emissions within the zone. The bulk is buses, taxis, heavy vehicles. In my eyes it's a revenue raiser, not a bona-fide attempt at reducing pollution. I also wonder at the merits of buying a car now that meets the emissions requirements - I would think the only way is for emissions controls to become heavier, thus while a car meets it now, it may not in a few years.
  21. I had EE, was ok but did noticeably slow at peak times. never had an outage that I remember/noticed. Have just switched to plusnet, switch was seamless, speed great so far but early days.
  22. Sue I agree with you. Media has concentrated on hard borders/mp's etc, but I've yet to see a good analysis of what no deal, or theresa's deal would actually mean on an economic level. I'm not sure anyone knows therefore won't commit to the analysis.
  23. I find the same on Underhill Road. Skip and other large delivery trucks barrel down over the speed humps very fast, rattle the house.
