  1. No issues with the installation for me.
  2. I have had EE - was reliable. Switched to Plusnet due price - EE were poor at renegotiating once contract discount period had come to an end.
  3. I recently went for the first time - must admit I got straight through to reception and made an initial appointment easily as an NHS patient. Initial checkup was quick, efficient. Dentist seemed very good. I agree the name isn't the best choice, but can't fault the service.
  4. Think I commented once before - heard a radio discussion last year about the scheme, and a report that the Mayor's office had conducted. From memory passenger cars accounted for 2% of the emissions the scheme is targeting. Taxi's, buses, heavy vehicles were the majority. It's a solely money making scheme IMO.
  5. I've received one letter saying things will change, circa a month or two ago, but nothing about signing up etc? How are you meant to know?
  6. Facetiously I would offer that the increase in casualties is due to the rapid increase in Uber Eats/Deliveroo etc motorcyclists and cyclists who seem to ride generally with no appreciation of personal safety.
  7. Upstairs could possibly replace tiles with vinyl etc floor covering as well to removed impact noise?
  8. I wonder if anyone can recommend someone they have used to perform a CCTV drain survey? And approximate cost? Many thanks
  9. It's basically 2016 and later for Diesel vehicles - Euro 6 standard. If your car doesn't take "ad-blue" then it's probably not compliant.
  10. It's not a great scheme IMHO. I read somewhere that the GLA only has authority to charge, but not to ban, hence the congestion charge and now the ulez charge. I also read that private vehicles only account for 2% of emissions within the zone. The bulk is buses, taxis, heavy vehicles. In my eyes it's a revenue raiser, not a bona-fide attempt at reducing pollution. I also wonder at the merits of buying a car now that meets the emissions requirements - I would think the only way is for emissions controls to become heavier, thus while a car meets it now, it may not in a few years.
  11. I had EE, was ok but did noticeably slow at peak times. never had an outage that I remember/noticed. Have just switched to plusnet, switch was seamless, speed great so far but early days.
  12. Sue I agree with you. Media has concentrated on hard borders/mp's etc, but I've yet to see a good analysis of what no deal, or theresa's deal would actually mean on an economic level. I'm not sure anyone knows therefore won't commit to the analysis.
  13. I find the same on Underhill Road. Skip and other large delivery trucks barrel down over the speed humps very fast, rattle the house.
  14. It was up for sale last year I think.
  15. Who was he visiting? I'd love to know!
  16. Must admit I have to echo Growlybear for an urgent appointment 2 weeks ago, was very quick and painless to organise a same day appointment. Receptionist efficient and polite. Couldn't ask for more on that occasion.
  17. I guess the volume of traffic and size of vehicles using the roads will ensure we return to pothole heaven sooner rather than later. Surely deviations should be planned out for road closures?
  18. Coming home last night, 7 ish, it was a constant stream of traffic turning from Lordship Lane into Overhill, then down Belvoir, and then onto Underhill. A large green Clarkes coach was trying to turn onto Underhill as I passed, slowly, as it's a difficult turn for a vehicle of that size with parked cars - surely these small side roads are not designed to handle vehicles of this size?
  19. Look a little more closely, there are a lot of pre 07 number plates.
  20. Just watched a green sedan, reg I think KD04 YFW, pull up in front of a building site across the road. 2 youths jumped out, dressed in "builder-ish" clothes, baseball caps, and with yellow hi-vis gloves on, and tried the doors on the van parked in front of the site. All locked, they started to look into the front yard before a builder appeared and they jumped back in the car and it sped off. Driver didn't exit the car. Was fast and efficient (although in this case unsuccessful).
  21. I don't think it is as simple as comparing PM2.5 emissions between a stove and cars. The key comparison to me, is what source of energy the wood burning stove is displacing. The previously posted link makes this point: The net benefits or dis-benefits from using biomass as a fuel depend on what fuel it replaces. If, in winter, the wood burning stove is substituting for an electric heater, it is likely displacing power derived from a coal fired power station - which in winter is the marginal power source. As such it is likely no better or worse. If it substitutes for gas powered central heating, it is likely producing higher PM2.5 emissions. If it is replacing an open fire, it is likely producing less PM2.5 emissions.
  22. Absolutely positively needs to be (heavily) chained.
