  1. I'll help dogkennelhillbilly out... Walk - which many people cannot do for any appreciable distance Cycle - as above Bus - slow and polluting Tube - oh there isn't any Train - slow and expensive. So yes, losds of viable options in SE London...
  2. No water pressure again this morning on Underhill Road, forest hill end. Anyone experiencing the same?
  3. That's annoying to lose direct trains Forest Hill to East Cyodon
  4. I went with EE for broadband and their TV - essentially its freeview, but a recordable box (up to 4 channels at a time) and access to Now TV, catchup etc etc. It's pretty decent for the price. Doesn't access Netflix or Amazon though.
  5. When will the bridge outside the Phoenix reopen? Cars doing u-turns further up the road to get into Grove Lane are dangerous.
  6. Loz, that's not correct as I understand it. What you outlined above only applies to interest on the mortgage, all other legitimate expenses are fully deductible whatever tax rate you pay.
  7. Thanks miga. It just seems really odd, and it is annoying. Would have thought there was a town planning standard for things like this?
  8. Ok, it's taken me a while to remember to upload these...but here are some photos. Some posts on the left, some in the centre, some on the right...holes where it looks like they were moved, no consistency.
  9. Yes, thanks for responding HornimanMuseumGarden, good to know you're reading it!
  10. I think it's an amazing idea, and would be an amazing location. I am a regular user of Crystal Palace which I think is a great facility, but it's opening hours make it very difficult to get there for daily sessions if you work mon-fri and need to commute to town. I'd use it.
  11. You need to go a bit further down than Barclays, around the pool area.
  12. Thanks malumbu. I didn't write this above, but I also think prices became a bit extravagent on the stalls at the horniman market.
  13. I didn't have my phone with me on friday, but will snap some photos next time I'm up there. Seriously ridiculous! If this had happened on LL there would be uproar.
  14. Well, yes. An espresso/americano (black) is cheaper than a "fancy" milk based coffee (cappucino/latte/flat white etc). An americano with milk...i don't think that's normally more expensive but I'm not sure.
  15. I guess no one else got wound up by this, or wound up enough to post at least.
  16. The Horniman market thread made me think to post this. Lactose intolerant, so need a lactose free milk when I buy a latte/flat white etc. Normally that's soya milk, but could be something else. It winds me up when coffee shops charge a lot extra for soya milk (many don't charge extra at all) on top of already inflated coffee prices. Soya milk is probably about 30-50p more expensive retail than dairy milk for a litre so perhaps a small extra charge is justified. I noticed on the weekend that the cafe in the park opposite the Horniman charge 50p for soya milk as an "extra" ! These places lose a sale to me! Anyone else get wound up by this?
  17. I used to like the market, wandering up more often than not on a saturday morning for a coffee and a treat at the stalls. However, I'm lactose intolerant so need lactose free milk in my latte...it became the norm that the coffee bar didn't have soya milk or alternative so I lost interest in buying a coffee from there. A very small thing, but means at least one less person and a lost sale of coffee and something from the stalls.
  18. I was walking along Dartmouth Road this morning (the road that runs from the south circ up past Forest Hill Pools), and noticed that new street lighting lamp-posts have appeared this week (it was up towards the FH Pools that I noticed). This must be the shoddiest job I have ever seen. Some are on the left of the footpath. Some are in the middle (yes, the middle) of the footpath. Some are on the right. Completely haphazard, looks like there has been no planning whatsoever. Whoever was responsible for this should be shot. The lamp-posts should be removed and installed in more sensible positions.Perhaps an odd thing to get worked up about, but once you see them you'll understand!
  19. Imdont think it's fair either, given diesel cars were promoted as the clean alternative for so many yard. I think cars owned at the time of the new logislation should be exempt until they are sold.
  20. Yeap, I don't disagree. Would be nice to see some clean power gen plans in the pipeline, let alone plans to meet projected demand!
  21. I agree that a legitimate business expense should be offset against legitimate income - thus interest should be offset against rental income. Simple. As to the niceness or evilness of BTL landlords I'm not going to get involved.
