  1. So we should be happy that parking is chaotic just because these workers are "servicing" us and can't manage a public transport commute like most people that live in ED and work elsewhere?
  2. Get a bunch of friends around for a car moving party...
  3. From the train station need to take bus transfer to airport - I think it's ?2 now, which includes the return trip. It can be a palaver if you just miss one, they can sit there for ages waiting to fill up, so allow an extra 10 or 15 minutes.
  4. I went last Saturday - I thought it was amazing. It was timed entry, I didn't think it was too busy, and the range of butterflies was astounding. A couple landed on my little one and it made her day. Thoroughly recommend. Perhaps you were at an unlucky time. I'll go again.
  5. Get on Virgins twitter and make some comments - might get some resolution
  6. I agree that traffic in side roads seems to be a lot greater/faster since the main roads were reduced to 20mph.
  7. It's so beautiful to see aerial pictures of Paris, with such a low level skyline, and so sad now to see London skyline with random tall building dotted all over the city.
  8. As mentioned above, as long as you have an AST in place, and protected the deposit correctly, it will be a straight-forward process to evict. If you didn't, I cannot offer advice.
  9. Completely agree - the Sydenham attack was actually Penge High Street, ironically directly out the front of the old police station. The attacker took off his helmet after jumping off his friends bike, knowing there was no chance of being pursued. I'm a motorcyclist and often have kids on mopeds eyeing up my bike when next to me at the lights, and I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before I have to defend. Reading on social media (assume it's true but it may not be) that there are vigilante groups starting up in North London to hunt down the gangs. IMO, police should chase them, and if the perp is injured/killed in the chase, so be it.
  10. I can thoroughly recommend Squire padlock and chain combo.
  11. I have friends that do this in Sydney, pretty much fulltime - there are websites that match owners/sitters etc. They don't get paid, they just get free accommodation/amenities.
  12. Luckily, in summer, it's very pleasant to do cardio outdoors, so just cancel the gym membership!
  13. Yes - looks like all traffic as normal except effectively all the traffic that would normally head up King William st will need to turn onto Cannon St or around to Gracechurch St. There is a still a lot of building work along Cannon St - that road can't handle the volume of traffic at the moment even while Bank is as usual. Coming home in peak will be even more horrendous I think. A lot of traffic will divert to Blackfriars Bridge which is already a roadblock much of the time. The irony is - Bank intersection, IMO, is a relatively free flowing intersection 90% of the time. The last few morning it has been calm and pleasant riding through there.
  14. It's going to be absolute carnage on Monday morning going north across London Bridge when the bank intersection is shut to all except buses and cycles !! https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/transport-and-streets/traffic-management/Documents/Bank%20on%20Safety%20Map.pdf
  15. Started with Suzuki GSX250 which went through about 4 friends as we learnt and upgraded, then moved on to a Suzuki RG250 2-stroke (because I couldn't afford an RGV250) which I thought made me a GP star but in reality was bloody loud and annoying, then got a dirt bike desire and bought Yamaha DT200 2-stroke. Managed to save some cash and upgrade to Suzuki GSXR750...which was amazing and would do motorway speed in 1st gear which I then sold for overseas trip, back home to an old dual-shock Yamaha XT250 which I wish I still had (actually I wish I still had all the bikes!), then on to two Kawasaki Z750's (1980) that I gave a full rebuild into one complete bike. From there to a Piaggio Liberty 50cc, to Suzuki Bandit 600, to Kawasaki Z750 (2007), to BMW 800. Always wanted a Ducati Mike Hailwood replica (early 80's).
  16. For anyone interested: Bank junction closure survey link below: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/bankonsafety
  17. A priority should be to reduce emissions of large trucks, older buses, and taxi's. Everyday I am behind these forms of vehicles that are belching huge clouds of black smoke whenever they accelerate. Target the commercial sector in addition to the private sector.
  18. No workmen there when I went though 7.50 this morning. Obviously traffic management is a huge priority!
  19. Thanks firstmate, complete agreement from me!
  20. That's ok rendelharris, I'm happy to stand alone on this.
  21. Yeap, definitely going in circles. My argument has nothing to do with safety - you introduced that element - mine is completely to do with being a motorised vehicle. I believe motorised vehicles should be registered. You disagree - good for you!
  22. Yes, because a motor - is there anything else legally allowed on the road that has a motor which doesn't need to be registered? Should we exempt motorised bicycles just because you think they are handy for some people?
  23. Because they have a motor and legally need to travel on the road - simple as that. I don't understand why you think something with a motor that travels on the road and needs to obey road rules should be excempt from registration? Should we exempt a normal car or motorbike because the driver/rider feels they need some assistance?
  24. Any electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters that travel on the road, yes. And you've hit on the point exactly - they are exactly the same as a normal bicycle EXCEPT they have a motor...therefore aren't the same at all.
