They are powered vehicles, thus should be registered. Very irresponsible to let them on as they are. Technically you are not correct rendelharris - the electric motor won't assist when you're travelling more than 25 km/h (15.5mph), but they are not limited to 15mph.
-
Electric bicycles shouldn't be allowed on the road without registration IMO
-
My advice - buy something that you like/want right now, and if you're bored in 6 months sell it and buy the next!

I also registered for a garage...still on the waiting list as far as I'm aware. I park on driveway, big chain to a big tree, and a cover to keep it out of sight...

Hi Siduhe, Thanks - yes, have been doing so, and that does work, but seems the advantage of an external pressure vessel is that you don't need to do this (and a quick require of my original post, can also use a megaflo with an external vessel fitted, doesn't need to be a different brand!).
-
I have a megaflo cylinder in the loft, and the associated boiler 2 floors below. The megaflo is great, as red devil pointed out, for enabling constant (well almost) pressure when a couple of hot water taps are being used at the same time. You get mains pressure all the time - but be aware that mains pressure varies throughout the day so there are still periods of weaker pressure. It's expensive to buy, but not massively so. It also has the advantage of having a backup immersion coil so if the boiler breaks, you can still have hot water. The downside i've found is the "internal bubble" system it uses to absorb pressure fluctuations - does promote some leakage out the overflow pipe. A lot of googling has suggested this is a common problem with megaflo cylinders, and recommend a similar mains pressure cylinder (there are a few other brands) with an external pressure vessel fitted instead.

Attempted scooter theft @ 05:30am
bobbsy replied to eyebrowcrisis's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Saw on saturday, whilst walking down lordship lane towards the library - two scooters coming up the road, so close together they looked to be touching (which was what caught my eye). As they zipped past, I heard an alarm sounding - I was too slow on the uptake to get any details, but I realised as they disappeared into the distance that one scooter was stolen, alarm blaring, and the rider was holding onto the other black scooter and was being towed along the road. They must have broken the steering lock and couldnt start it. 4pm in the afternoon, broad daylight. -
I didn't buy a mattress in a box, but did buy a memory foam mattress from an italian company (can't remember the name) - it arrived rolled and shrink wrapped - it's awesome.

calling all cyclists using the Elephant and Castle
bobbsy replied to Sally Eva's topic in The Lounge
Yeap, that's a good route, but hundreds of cyclists each morning either don't know it, or don't like it. -

On the rare occasions > I go through there on the bus it seems less > congested to me than it used to be. I think too > many people are just seeing new cycle lanes, > seeing congestion, and saying there you are, cycle > lanes are causing congestion - even when, as round > Elephant, the lanes are on what was pavement and > haven't taken lanes away from the road. Rendel, I'm not blaming cycling lanes as such (I cycle through there), I just find the layout odd. A roundabout is a simple concept and generally works. Now there is traffic flowing in many ways, cyclists use both the cycle lane and the normal road, traffic coming south and turning into St georges Rd frequently block traffic heading north, the cycle land going north onto Borough H S runs slam dunk into a bus stop, cyclists go every which way. I'm pro cycling, but I found the previous layout better. I'm fine if you find this layout better. OP asked for opinions, I've given mine. I feel this junction was redesigned to make it the area prettier, rather than more functional/safer. -
Southwark council tax bill hitting the door mat for 2017 - 2018
bobbsy replied to trinidad's topic in The Lounge
You may be right Otta, but I think it's being used as a way to raise council tax in general. I'd like to see better evidence on how the council tax funds are spent. -

I find the new E&C a bit odd. Yes, before the roundabout was very busy, but traffic flowed, and cyclists (I think) had plenty of room. Now the traffic backs up along Walworth Road. Lots of cyclists use the cycle lane in front of the new Pret etc, then the wierd "hook" around the traffic lights to come back to Borough High Street, whilst a lot stay on the road and go through the lights for the same route. Then, when exiting the E&C junction onto Borough H S, the cycle lane kind of merges with the bus stop, which can get quite congested, so people go down the cycle lane and also veer onto the car lane...etc... I think it's a bit of a mess. -
For servicing and related mechanical things, Rat Race in Nunhead are very recommended. Nice guys, quick turnaround, good work.

Ask your councillor. I asked one of the labour candidates last time they cam door knocking and he was surprised at the question, but later came back to me and confirmed. There have been many articles about it over recent years, the TA one was the first hit on a google search. -

I realise I'm repeating myself, but I'm gobsmacked that ?1 in ?5 of council tax goes to councillors pensions. -

The pensions bills for local councils are getting completely out-of-hand. Funding these schemes currently accounts for approximately 20% of council tax that is collected, and that figure will increase. All the hoo-ha about adult social care costs is, in my opinion, a cover to try to plug the local government [rension deficits. http://www.taxpayersalliance.com/council_pensions_the_53bn_black_hole_olpeupvuqqqb4xhpgh_ffbmrsdi -

Is this the end of shared homes in Southwark?
bobbsy replied to ivanhoeshmivanhoe's topic in The Lounge
Ok, my misunderstanding - I had thought a HMO was individually let rooms (multiple individual leases). -

Could you lease in one or two peoples names only, and then sublet to the other two? My understanding (which may be incorrect) was that this applied if the landlord rented each room on a separate arrangement (usually nets more money) rather than one lease with multiple people on it...? -
Would you be ok with a large rent increase if the property was leased by a large chain?

Agree re: road anchors. There is very little you can legally and practically secure a motorcycle to.
