Recycling in ED, easy to do, or complete confusion?
spider69 replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It is not a recycling plant, it is a sortation centre. A vast difference. . -
It used to be that any pipes that took any water/waste away from your property to the outside drains or sewer pipe was the responsibility of the Council and the pipes from the point of entry from the outside into your flat is your responsibility. If there is no blockage from your pipes to the outside any pipes from the outside point of exit were the responsibility of the Council. That is why the Council should come and inspect and if the blockage is within your property then you would need to get your own plumber to solve the problem within your property. Who pays the bill is secondary until the Council inspects. Outside pipes the Council, inside your responsibility

This may seem a silly question but have the Council actually sent anybody round to your property to investigate? In the old days Neighbourhood Housing Offices had their own building inspectors/repairs desk who would come out and take a look. They knew the buildings backwards. Unfortunately now you have a call centre with decisions on all matters now left to those with no pratical experience. I wish you luck

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
spider69 replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Jamesmcash wrote. "The consultation will identify what appetite there is for controlled parking in different areas. The consultation area is quite big but the results will not be all-or-nothing. In other words, if controlled parking is popular in some areas but not in others then the former can have controlled parking and the latter not." If you believe this you may be in for a surprise. Look at the DKH CPZ some roads opted out but were told as the others are in the plan they had to be also. It is what Southwark wants not you. So they had to be in also. -
Heading 7. Not enough space for all resident's cars/force them to park far away Answer We must prioritise the kerbside space across the zone, our priority is safety and reducing parking stress. The council aims to reduce private car ownership and cannot guarantee a space on the public highway for anyone. If anyone doubted Southwark's master plan for car ownership in the borough the above statement resulting from the new DKH CPZ confirmation statement is confirmed. Southwark wants cars off the road. You have now been warned and informed.

Electric car charge points in East Dulwich
spider69 replied to DV77's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Does this mean if there is a lamp post outside your property they want can they just take the parking space away although you might not have or want an electric car? Losing yet more resident parking. I have not seen any notification of surveys of potential sites and lamp columns for electric charge points. Rather like their we want CPZ's everywhere even though you might not like one. -

Have you when moving around the area enclosed by the north and south circular roads look at the number of cars that fall into the 15 year petrol period. Most are in pristine condition and well looked after better than some new cars. Just walk down your own street and local area and look. Many people will not be in a position to replace their vehicles and from my own observations ownership of these vehicles seem to fall into the OAP/younger age ownership bracket where income is tight. It is far better to just let these cars die a natural death when repairs start to cost many times more than the value of the car and rising costs levied on the motorist also start to hit. If an OAP It is their lifeline and mine at 72 to the outside world and the mileage driven is very very low. Cycling and walking any great distance is not an option for many. Agree it is ill thought out. Applicable 100% for the congestion zone area's where traffic is heavy but not a blanket ban inside the N/S circulars where many roads are not overrun with traffic. If applicable to inside the N/S circular why not outside? Does traffic just suddenly appear as if by magic on the N/S roads and all emissions before suddenly stop dead and disappear not moving anywhere. -

So Am I right in thinking that well maintained cars older than 15 years will have to pay ?12.50 to remain on and be able to use the road within the N/S circular roads If so I can see many many cars being taken of the road and not being able to be replaced. If my car is 14 years old in 2021 does that mean it has to be replaced in 2022 when it reaches 15 years?

spider69 replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
When Khans ULEZ masterplan comes in there will be parking for all who can afford to buy a new car. Most cars from ordinary people will be priced off the road including builders etc etc vehicles, so loft conversions, plumbers etc will not be on the road. Will CPZ's be dismantled? Has the full implications of this been thought out? -

Do you know if there is going to be an open meeting so people can voice their concerns or will it be as usual just put through on the nod. I was told you would be able to do this. How many times do they want you write in. Regards -
This resturant was before the Harvestor when the place was The Grove. You entered from the main road up steps. Circa 1970.

What has being a small size got do do with owning a car? Southwark want more housing and less cars on the road so I suspect that this will be passed if no parking provision is made. Even if half the units have a car where will they park? Hope the incumbent residents see this planning application off or radically amended.

Dulwich Park kerbs I asked one of the workmen this morning about this. The kerbs have been raised to stop the pavements from flooding which apparently was happening all the time. They have also been been raised to stop vehicles from driving on the pavement and knocking people down. I take this to include all types of wheeled things going out of control. -

No not confused just pointing out that your concern is business and I am sure that discussing local issues would cover the outcome of a CPZ for local businesses and not so much for the residents parking issues. So stopping any CPZ would be a priority.
