  1. Does any one know what is happening regarding the possible parking charge? Has it be scrapped or are they still figuring out if they can inforce it on people.
  2. Dont worry about losing the cash paid for this event not going on the parks upkeep, Southwark has that covered with the ?2.00 per hour parking charge from the small car park which is due to come into play soon.
  3. Do they do the same procedure to cyclists or are they exempt?
  4. You have not been the first person to have asked this question.Re: Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge? Posted by sally buying May 10, 06:24PM "I am sure this has been asked before, why has the garden waste and food waste now been separated into 2 items requiring collection, 3 if you include brown bags. Surely they all end up in the same compost heap just like a compost heap in ones garden. Apart from screwing money from residents did the old system not work? How many vehicles will be used by Southwark to collect all this?"
  5. I am surprised that the P13 route cannot be opened as cars are using that route with no problem. At the moment is is causing problems for residents who need the bus to get to Rye Lane. Open the route until needed then close it. Knowing how Southwark works this could go on for months or years.
  6. 35 miles an hour in the evening rush hour through the station traffic lights and the raised platform by Coplestone Road?
  7. You may not have needed the brown bin but many of us do so cannot understand why the brown bin cannot be used as per now for garden clippings and food wast. No one has answered as to how many dust carts will now be needed to collect from all these bins, 4 now in total
  8. cella Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So which bin for food waste? "Thank you for your email. Because of the massive level of year-on-year cuts from government in its grants to the council, we have had to take the decision to join the majority of other London councils that already charge for the collection of garden waste. The ?30 per year (?25 in the first year) charge that we are introducing will be one of the lowest in London and will start from June. Food waste, which will remain free for collection, should be put in a new food waste bin that the council will shortly be delivering to you. This will be much smaller than the brown bin and so hopefully should not create too much additional clutter. Best wishes Councillor Richard Livingstone Cabinet member for Environment, Transport Management and Air Quality Labour councillor for Old Kent Road Ward London Borough of Southwark How hollow does the same old reply seem when they can keep spending to replace existing equipment already in use. This thought did enter my mind, Out of interest where will the garden waste end up and where will the food waste end up. At the same place for decomposing? and will three separate collection vehicles be used on collection day? Blue or green along with large brown bin and now small brown bin.
  9. What happens in the Autumn when the leaves come down. I usually clear the pavement in front of my house and neighbours putting the leaves, and there are a lot, into the brown bins. With my council tax now raised to over ?2000+ I will not be doing it this year. No one else does it as most of the houses are split into flats. Southwark just let them pile up. Accidents will happen resulting in compensation claims.
  10. The expense of doing nothing is much higher. For example the Government Dept of Transport views each individual crash as costing - [www.gov.uk] Slight ?16,434 Serious ?213,184 (doesn't include costs before first 18month) Killed ?1,897,129 Out of interest how are these figures arrived at?
  11. Some one paid them money to dump. No other reason
  12. Start of the fly tipping season again. Would have thought BT would have learnt from the last time
  13. What next, premium phone lines to ring the Council. It is all getting a bit silly now. You could get rid of my local Cllrs and save money, they would not be missed

  15. My wife used the above route you were talking about on Monday and came home and said where has all the traffic gone. Could not believe how empty all the roads were.

  17. I have circulation problem with my feet whereby I need to walk a lot. My dog and I use Dulwich Park once a day and sometimes twice as it is flat and pleasant and does not put to much pressure on my metatarsal bones due to fat loss. It gives us both the exercise that Doctors recommend. Prior to Champion Hill closing it took me 10/12 minutes by car to reach the park. Now I am looking at 25minutes sometimes more to get there. Now that this charge is being brought in I will have to consider if I can afford to go for 2/3 hours a day combined with other factors. Before the normal comments are made if I have to take public transport, which involves 2 buses and walking the journey will take a min of 40 minutes or longer each way. That time depends if the bus/s turns up on time or at all. My house is situated in the middle of a hill away from public transport. So it is already difficult to reach a starting point. Combine that with having a dog and the prospect does not really appeal after testing it. Getting a bus with a dog presents problems as mothers with prams that look like tanks take up most of the limited space parking space and space between the seats is very limited. So looking to use my local park which I have done for almost 73 years a return journey will now take me around 90 minutes without the time spent in the park. Factor into that being tired after walking, and it rains having a wet dog on a bus which will not please some the park is really getting out of reach. 6 days a week for me will cost ?36 a week extra for something that I already pay towards with my Council tax, which if the talk is correct will be over ?2000+ for this year. I cannot afford to pay to use my local park Some families will also have to make this decision. Locals in the Dulwich Park area can walk with no problem but other that are not and have have to travel with children, toddler bikes, scooters, toys and the family dog will have to consider if they can afford the park which is crazy. Getting on a bus is most of the time not an option. It might appear to some that the park and it surrounds is turning into a middle class ghetto which might just be used by only close residents. This is wrong. It is strange that Southwark keep pushing fitness but continue to make it difficult for many. Again another decision whilst looking at in a meeting has just not been thought through before putting it into operation.
  18. James Barber wrote. "Equally it does seem odd that quite so many drive to a park. especially when quite so many bus routes pass so close to Dulwich and Peckham Rye parks giving many real public transport options in addition to walking and cycling" Have you or Southwark made any investigation why this might be the case? Or is it a case of that fits what we all think round this table. Lets do it. TMO job done.
  19. Cannot get Rupert James picture up. Which show the true picture. Decided after writing do not have the strength to reply to I know what will 100% be coming. After a brief flurry in the morning the road is as shown. Its only the morning as coming on the homeward leg why would any go up Champion Hill when you cannot turn right at DKH. You keep to the main road. Does Southwark know where the traffic goes at the bottom of Champion Hill. Herne Hill of Camberwell? As has been pointed out its done and will stay done. Screw residents.
  20. There is a very good letter in Southwark's News Letter page, that for me and I suspect many others sums up the situation that is Champion Hill.
  21. I have asked Southwark Council why this option was never put forward for consideration. I am sure my lone voice will be ignored.

Surely if "our high street" cannot survive by local residents using it without resorting to a car there has to be some doubt as to its viability. Many shops/business in the area have closed because local residents do not use their high street. I may be wrong but I do not classify LL as a shopping destination. Bond Street yes.

Why dont you mention you are a full day CPZ and all surrounding roads are also full day CPZ's.Of course there will be more spaces pushing your lost traffic elsewhere. Most people outside of your CPZ wanted full day, just like you, but were turned down even when the majority % wanted it
