  1. @Sue I'm sorry to hear that. all I can add is having eaten in at Matoom within the past month we found the food up to the usual standard.
  2. Its hideous! Sorry but..the price is a joke and theres no redeeming feature in this house..Well I'd like a pool but thats all.
  3. any idea why? its my local..
  4. When I lived in an almost identical street to the one in the OP (not in Southwark but north of the river) my neighbours and I would sweep our stretch of road if the leaves got too much (it stopeed them blowing up our paths and going into our hallways as well as protecting others from slipping on them in the rain..a win-win) and ditto in the snow we would salt our bit of pavements and clear the snow..it only takes a few houses to do this and your block will be clear.
  5. I go to Crab Salad in Peckham https://www.crabsalad.salon/ I've never had a bad cut and have sent friends there who've had cuts and colour and remained regulars..The staff are all properly trained and are technically excellent cutters ...I know..I was a Vidal Sasoon hair model in the 80's and as a result I am very fussy about who I go to. Toby is wonderful but friends have been to other stylists and colourists there and are very happy. Its a nice enviroment and I like that the team listen to what I want and give good advice too.
  6. Thank you for update! Protected Paws are amazing 😍
  7. usually I leave em in..but I had time on my hands and when I re-read my post even I was shocked at how terrible they were 🤭
  8. Crosbie Dental care in London W1 https://crosbiedental.co.uk/ highly recommended. I'm 90% sure they also do children
  9. I told the JW's that I was a Witch and would cast a spell on them if they rang my bell again (used to be every saturday morning around 10-11am) happily my black cat came rushing down the path and in the house as I was stating this (I'm not btw).. Now when they do the rounds of my street they always seem to pass our house and not ring the bell but maybe my OH standing 'debating' with them for ages put them off? either way they don't bother us.
  10. @Sue I'd say you're almost certainly within 2.5 miles.. Most their buisness seems to be from Deliveroo due to the small size of the actual restaurant there's always deliver drivers waiting round the corner..The good thing is the food is prepared in their kitchen for the takeaway orders not in some grim dark kitchen on an industrial estate
  11. I think part of the problem lies in the fact that to the best of my knowledge Southwark abolished waiting lists for full classes (I'm certain I got an email stating this fact earlyish last year)..therefore one has to just keep checking to see if anyone cancels and a slot becomes available. whereas before a message would be sent to tell you a slot had become available.
  12. @Sue that makes sense as its pretty tiny for eat in..we live down the road so can get lucky with walk-ins. Their phone number is 0208 291 4423 here's their website https://www.matoom.co.uk/ I just LOVE the food there
  13. try Franklins. Or Due Fratelli ?
  14. Matoom Thai on London Rd (opposite Sainsbury) Its tiny but minimalist chic decor and I've found the food to be superb. Its by far my favourite Local (ish) Thai. Note that Amrutha is Vegan.
  15. I agree that Forest Hill is MUCH cleaner, used to be awful but since Better took over running it its become a really well run centre. Its just a shame the gym is so small there but the pool and classes are great and staff are lovely.
  16. I find it goes on in all council leisure centres that people book places the moment they become available on the app then cancel in the 3 or 4 hours before the reserved slot so as not to incur a pentalty fine.. Its annoying but thats what happens... I just keep checking my emails and the app and sure enough a places often open up the night or a few hours before.
  17. Yes TSE's are still going and really really good..I did'nt suggest them because I thought OP may be looking just in ED even though Tse is just over the 'border' been going there ages and its reliably good
  18. I've heard of one called Fox Angels https://www.foxangelsfoundation.org/
  19. I've realised all retailers based in stations charge a premium-In my last job I had to travel to and from marylebone and I realised the drink I was buying in M&S there was up to 40p more expensive than Lordship Lane M&S-And The drink in question would be water or juice so thats up to a 20% mark-up. The maddest mark-up I experienced recently was when I was unfortunate enough to go to to Bicester Village with a friend who wanted a 'girls day out there' (OLD girls in our case).. We went to Pret a Manger for lunch and the Salad I usually get was £2 more expensive there..ditto all the sandwiches had a couple of quid slapped on them-I've never experienced those mark-ups at Pret's in stations only there.
  20. good luck booking forest Hill, I've been trying to get in a fitness class there (I'm a member) for two weeks and they're all fully booked..I go on the waitlist by the time I've recieved an email to tell me a slot has become available its gone and sessions are all fully booked. really really depressing.
  21. @selector73 Thanks! Because we want him to be treated by the vets that know him we will have to get to the New X branch because thats where the team are based until LL reopens. Thank you again 🙏
  22. Thank you ! We Will find a way to get him to New X because We owe his life to the vets he sees at Lordship Lane branch and they know him (and us) and we prefer the continuity of care because he's an elderly rescue cat who gets extremely anxious even though he's been needing monthly bloods he just never gets used to going and it can be a lengthy process just getting the sample. Can you tell I'm as anxious about the whole thing as he is??😥
  23. 2 months! oh no!!! Our cat is due to be booked for blood test thre and he hates being in the car as much as he hates going to the vet.. It'll take us that much longer to get to New X from home. thats really unfortunate ☹️
  24. Point taken..I go 3-4 times a week and have done every week for several years however £115 a month is still a lot of money for many people (myself included) for a 'non essential' One can if one wishes excersise by running or Cycling, swimming once in a while. Gym membership IS a luxury...
  25. Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
