Its a disaster for me because I joined the gym because EA also run the centres in Westminster which is where I work and therefore can use gyms after work. Otherwise I'm stuck to only going on days off. I know they're open until 10pm but getting home from work at 8.30 from W1 THEN changing and going to the gym is going to be a pain. Also council run gyms tend to be pretty rubbish. We have no decent Virgin active type offering in the area so we're a bit stuck if the leisure centre goes downhill.

Same in Forest hill-this whole swathe of South east London is treated very badly by the train companies

There was a woman on a 185 bus the other week who had a recorded message loudspeaker affair in her backpack playing this rubbish I got really upset and angry and had an argument with her polluting our ears with this propaganda nonsense. People like this are dangerous and should be fined AND made to visit an ICU Covid ward

My normal temperature is between 33.5 & 35 I know this because it gets taken every morning at work ...You've freaked me out that its verging on hypothermia -in fact if my temperature reads as 36 I worry that I have a fever!

  7. I'm A BUT having spent a week commuting to and working in the west end I think 75% of our great British public are C. Its actually quite disturbing the sheer volume of people who seem to think the Pandemic is over because Boris Lifted the Lockdown. barely any customers where I work have opted to wear a mask. and obviously social distancing is out the window. The tubes today contained only about 25% of passengers in my carriage wearing masks both to and from work. I know of two people who have been double vaccinated who have got Covid. I have found this week the most stressful scary working week I've had during the whole pandemic. Its insanity opening up clubs and bars when the majority of clubbers will be of the age group who haven't had the vaccine and the Delta variant is highly contagious and on the rise. Colleagues at work (who are under 30) ave openly said they've deleted the NHS app because they dont want to get pinged and want to go out/go on holiday. This is a disaster in the making.

And I find Gails very overpriced and over hyped. Also I dislike the way the whole chain smacks of marketing give it a nice wholesome female name to make it appear 'homemade' flog your leftover scraps under any guise possible to maximise profit whilst pretending to be doing it 'to minimise food waste' (only a matter of time before they scrape the burnt bits off of things and market it as tooth whitening charcoal ). Finally if we must have a bakery type chain thingy in ED I'd rather have Ole and Steen the Danish chain. Great salads breads pastries and coffees and everything tastes less processed than Gails. As you can gather-I won't go there. The owner is a dick and the shops always stink of synthetic 'baked goods' smells in fact the odour is borderline sickly.
  9. My problem stems from trying to book on the Tuesday morning aqua class-I tried to book a week in advance at midnight and I was 20th in the queue -when I got up on The tuesday of the class I checked and was 3rd in the queue (waitlist) I made plans for my morning (I work full time so having a Tuesday off is a rarity) and about 2 minuets before the class was due to commence happened to look at my emails and lo and behold there were spaces in the class..But by now it was too late for me to get to get my swim stuff together and go. Its really frustrating that so many people book the moment the class becomes live on the app then cancel or dont turn up.
  10. Yes! Well done Cherner!

I agree-Because I travel on the tube daily and work in a shop I will continue to wear my mask. I suspect I will be amongst the few in my workplace and on the tube doing that but I do want to protect my loved ones as even if I'm double Vaxxed I could still get it or pass it to someone else. I'm recently hearing of many people where I work having to isolate or contracting covid. It seems to be spreading faster than I remember the virus spreading before-based on my personal evidence I consider the total easing of restrictions foolhardy at this moment in time to say the least. I fear that the next wave will hit during the school holidays but for economic reasons everything will stay open and people will die. I dont trust Boris's judgement in this. He isn't a scientist he'll be ok-he doesn't have to use public transport every day or deal with members of the public. He lives in a privileged bubble-and doesn't give a damn about the man in the street.

I remember when a friend said she'd been given a Kindle one christmas I scoffed and thought 'whats the point' I was gifted the Paperwhite as a mothers day present and now I cant imagine life without it Its fantastic for reading in bed at night (which is when I most often use it) I still buy books (especially ones about art etc) in their real form but I really cant imagine life without my Kindle. I dont own a tablet so have no comparison to make.
  16. I have to wear a mask all day at work-my shifts this month are 9am-7.30pm (next month they return to a normal 9.30-6.30pm) but factoring in my commute I have been wearing a mask for 12 hours a day since March 2020 (we worked through lockdown). The only obvious side effect is in my skin. I have pimples and open pores following the area that is covered by the mask and have developed rosacea and been prescribed a cream by my GP to wear under the mask which has helped a bit. bear in mind I work in a windowless environment so even with air conditioning my face can get very hot no matter what mask I wear.
  17. Husband had 2nd AZ dose yesterday. Sore arm but otherwise OK. where-as my 2nd dose of Pfizer made me feel wretched.

So, if you are swinging the lead - do > us all a favour and tolerate the inconvenience > whilst thinking just how you woudl feel if you got > ill or made someone else ill, yourself. What annoys me is that when people claim to be exempt (99.9% of these claiming exemption that we encounter in the shop are under 30) always state "I have Asthma" they never say "I am Autistic" or "I am claustrophobic and afraid of having my mouth and nose covered" or any of the other reasons where one could be medically exempt-I must also add none of these 'Asthma sufferers" wear an exemption sign and state they left it at home or they're waiting to get it. I Hate wearing the mask (I wear disposable ones and usually get through 2 per day)my skin is a mess in the areas the mask covers now after over a year of having to wear it (we worked through all the lockdowns ) but health is wealth and if a bit of discomfort saves the potential of someone losing a family member to this wretched virus then its worth it. Everyone missed their pubs, their eating out, their holidays abroad...but again thats a small price to pay for peoples lives. So many jobs have been lost because of this virus-in retail and hospitality and other businesses Unless people get a grip and stop denying that not wearing a mask contributes to the spread this will become I fear an endless spiral. Eating out is a luxury, going to the pub is a luxury, going in a non-essential shop is a luxury. respecting and safeguarding the health of others Is the most important thing of all. Unfortunately with Zero enforcement of these 'rules' that I can see by those with the powers to do so I cant see things changing. I hear from friends who live in Spain,France and New York that this seems to be a very British problem and compulsory wearing of masks (on the streets in some parts of spain I'm told) is largely adhered to and actually enforced.
  19. Ronnijade Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Your replies have made me gain some faith in > humanity. Thank you all. :( I so feel your pain! I work in a west end shop and we have to wear the masks all day at work (like you) unless exempt when staff members wear a badge or lanyard stating their exemption-HOWEVER I'd say about 70% of customers either drop masks to their chins once they enter the store or just dont bother wearing them (we were offering masks to people upon entry when we 1st reopened) It really upsets me. We wear a mask to protect them so by association they consider our health and those of our loved ones of zero importance. We have been told not to tell customers off not wearing masks to avoid altercations BUT the other day there was a man with his family mask on chins (all of them) shouting at his kids spraying spit everywhere and I asked him politely could he please put his mask on-He totally lost his s**t with me-shouting in my face "f-off! you cant tell me what to do! I dont have to wear an F-ing mask if I dont want to!" Our staff regularly go against the rules and try to ask customers to put their masks on and most get ignored or laughed at. I've found this whole situation with the wearing of masks a bit of an eyeopener as to how selfish the majority of people are- I wear a mask for almost 12 hours (10hour shift + commute) I HATE it I've had both vaccines but because I'm not exempt I wear my mask to protect others. The other day on the tube there was a young woman(20's) sat down next to me and took off her mask and started putting make up on-I asked her if she could please put her mask on-she refused said if I didn't like it I should move (there were no other seats it was morning rush hour) I then told her she was bloody selfish -other commuters in masks just stared nobody stood up for me -The girls retort was "You should be ashamed of yourself an old woman like you (I'm in my 60's) picking on a young girl!"..... It was horrible I ended up feeling really bad and unsupported when I was actually 'in the right' is her Lipgloss more important than other peoples lives? I ended up getting up and standing for 6 stops with the selfish b***h sneering at me for the duration of the journey. I'm so over it-over wearing a mask over peoples selfishness especially towards those of us in the service industries.

I am over 60 and a shop assistant on a low wage-I'm so grateful for my freedom pass as I work in zone 1-sadly now I only get free travel coming home as I leave for work at 8am. I was paying ?1400+ PA to travel before-thats a BIG chunk out of my annual salary. Thanks to the freedom pass I can now afford not to always take in a sandwich for lunch but to go to Pret if I fancy it.

  23. sorry but I dont see what 'entitlement' has to do with the post you've quoted? It IS a quiet residential side street. And when open Blue Brick just opens Weds-Sunday (or maybe thurs Sunday?) It doesn't trade at night has been there years and doesn't charge stupid prices either.

Firstly I am one half of an older couple (I think being in ones 60's counts as older) My post was made in defence of a much loved (by me and many others) small independent business which is one of the few places in the area that you can eat well for a tenner. People are very quick to scream "REPORT THEM" without thinking of the repercussions, fines and stress for the businesses involved by doing this. Speak to the people who run the place ...Ask that they put clear signs requesting customers dont push tables together if thats what's causing the problem. Also as someone who walks past pretty often I dont recall having a problem getting past unless someone had a buggy on the pavement-. I made the comment about Cafe Nero (I wrongly put Costa because to me there coffee chains are all the same) because if you MUST hound anywhere dont hound a small business that has been unable to trade for much of last year and 4 months of this one....complain about dilveroo bikes blocking pavements outside Pizza chains by all means, and takeaways having motorbikes on the pavement Do not hound the little guys trying to make a living a providing a valuable service to locals and the staff at Kings during the Pandemic.
