That spot was a derelict tip and now you're actually utilising it and giving local kids a place to hang out and exercise and meet their mates. Well done!

As I've said before I work in a busy store in Central london use 4 trains a day to and from work and have to face the disastrous interchange at Canada water every morning. at least 20% of people on public transport not wearing masks zero social distancing or any sign on marshalling on the escalator interchange at Canada water in the morning rush hour. People entering tube stations unmasked but not being stopped. In the stores in the west end large groups of customers unmasked-they are made to wear a mask upon entering the store but the moment they get inside they remove it and social distancing also goes out the window. Its heartbreaking-my employers have tried really hard to ensure our safety by putting lots of behind the scenes procedures in place, temperature checks, free bottles of hand sanitiser for all, providing masks etc etc but we dont have enough security to approach every customer walking round without a mask-we had a load of redundancies in October because of Covid no doubt there'll be more. I have friend who lost his retail management job during first lockdown and has found it impossible to get another. No one could have foreseen the new more infectious strain of this virus but if people had just obeyed the rules maybe we wouldn't now be in this mess-I hate rules-I was a punk in the 70's and have always danced to my own drummer-but this is life or death and there is a section of society who actually dont think the rules apply to them, or realise that by not wearing a mask and taking precautions they could kill somebody's mother, etc etc But back on topic.. My heart breaks for small independent retailers and restaurants We must all try to support them any which way we can-now and in the future-dont buy from chains, be it food or clothing or whatever Try and shop small and shop local. Your loved ones can wait to get a christmas present- dont buy from Amazon if the local shop offers a click and collect or delivery option.

  5. My Husband will be seeing his 96 year old mother and saying hello on christmas day from the garden-happily she lives with his sister so will not be on her own. In order to take extra precautions he's having a covid test (through his employer) this week and we will be isolating from each other in our house (luckily we have spare rooms to do so) and taking precautions in our home until he's seen her. I will not be visiting because I use 4 trains a day and work in a busy oxford st store therefore we have both agreed that as the weakest link in the chain its best I remain in London for christmas day. I think anyone who doesn't have a serious think about how safe it is to visit elderly relatives for Christmas needs to stop and think again.
  6. They are selling good ones in Plough DIY that clip onto glasses about ?12 for 2
  7. I'm posting this some weeks after the fact mainly because I've been waiting for a resolution on what happened and recieved none. On 24th Nov due to a coll?gue of mine recieving an alert telling her to self isolate my manager advised me to book at test-the only place I could get one for that evening was at Christal palace. I was allowed to leave work early to go straight there having booked online and received confirmation of the booking via email and text. 48 hours later no results-my manager said he couldn't allow me back into work until I'd received a negative result (The colleague who'd been told to self isolate had meanwhile tested negative)-Following the guidelines I had meanwhile been self isolating at home since the test, unable to leave the house. The blurb on the website says not to call about results until 6 days have passed and none have been received I waited 6 days..phoned the number given went through the relevant questions and after the telephone operator checked some things she confirmed that I had been both scanned IN and OUT of the test centre correctly so she would need to escalate things to find out what had happened to my test and that I should hear something within 3 days. At this point having no symptoms I persuaded my manager to let me go back to work. I waited 3 days heard nothing called again-went through the same questions and again was told that yes-the test centre did everything correctly I was scanned in and out so now they would investigate WHERE my test was and why I hadn't got the results. By this point I was looking into it more out sheer incredulity and anger that something as important and potentially dangerous as a covid test result could just go awol. I'm 60years old and responsible, I self isolated I didn't gad around while I was awaiting the result-but supposing I wasn't responsible? and had Covid and carried on going out and stuff with no sign of my test result? I've now phoned 3 times been told same thing we'll investigate-you should hear back within 3 days. I've still heard nothing. This isn't good enough! And if its happened to me it begs the question how many other tests have been lost in the Labs? I cant blame the centre because it seems they did their job but at some point the chain broke I'm wondering what percentage of tests this happens with? and what if some of these are positive? I cant believe I'm the only person this has happened to so I'm putting it out there.

To be honest this depends on the house, as ours has a downstairs loo and back bedroom/study as well as utility with sink, some neighbours have downstairs shower rooms too.

Some weeks ago two teens on bikes circled me as I walked down LL about 3pm-one cycled alongside me on the pavement his friend on my other side cycling in the kerb-so I was in the middle-it was really scary I just stopped at the nearest bus shelter where happily there were people.and they moved on but the one on the pavement kept looking over his shoulder at me as they cycled away. I felt because I was a lone older woman they were trying to intimidate me and maybe rob me.

The walls seem pretty thin. Thank > you. We live in a 1960's one near the Horniman Museum and have done for 10 years. We moved here having previously lived in a trad Victorian terrace house. Big fans of these houses. They have much better sound insulation than our victorian terrace where we could clearly hear the neighbours and their children, although we are in a terrace we really get no noise from either side coming through the walls. Lots of natural light which is a real bonus after the victorian, Our living/dining room runs depth of house so about 30ft deep by about 17ft wide, bedrooms are all large doubles bar one which in our case we use as a study. lots of storage, including loft and garage (too narrow for modern cars) and off street parking. Those are pro's. only cons I can think of are that we have a small kitchen-big enough to cook in but we eat at one end of the open plan living/dining room. Neighbours have actually made alterations to make the kitchen more integrated into the living space and opens it up, others have opened up the ground floor into a kitchen/dining area so if you have the funds the small (almost galley style but wide enough that we have cupboards on both sides so not tiny) kitchen can be rectified. I'd highly recommend these houses and think they are very undervalued for the amount of space and natural light you get. around 700k-820k for over 1200 sq ft compared to over a million for a victorian terrace. good luck with your move.

  14. I was working in the westend today and when I left work at 8pm the pavements were full of people strolling around looking at the lights and just gathering round takeaway food stands and riding in those rickshaw things, crowds round buskers it didn't feel like lockdown at all. Some people are in denial or feel immune. As an over 60 who has had to work through this whole lockdown and had to have two covid tests in the past month and had to self isolate for two weeks because of a colleague getting covid I can honestly say Covid is real and its bloody scary.

  17. The App worked for me this week but a few hours AFTER my manager had phoned me to tell me a colleague had tested positive for Covid and that I must self isolate and book a test. shortly after I went to the walk in test centre in Crystal Palace park where a few other people in separate cubbicles were also taking their tests I got inundated with alerts that I may have been in contact with someone with Covid...er..yes..that would have been in the Covid test facility! Warning to other lone females having tests here!!! -its a long dark largely unsignposted walk through the park to the testing tent if like me you are on foot and have to go after dark..actually really scary especially as you have to go armed with photo ID and Mobile phone for them to scan the QR code! Then to get back to public transport its another unlit walk back again....They could have at least turned on the lights in the pathways and vicinity but they were all off-horrible on a dark wet night when you can barely see in front of yourself I was slipping on the grass and all sorts!
  18. Its White where I live..'Supressed' means what exactly? all round is deep blue and olive
  19. And Crystal palace car park they do walk in and pre-booked

We buy about 50 which last just over a month for about ?10 I often get through 2 masks a day because I'm in them for approx 11 hours. I do have reusable ones but after washing (or steam cleaning at the end of the day)several times I've found they dont seem to fit as securely-bits that go round the ears stretch etc. I'm lucky in that I am still in employment so am able to afford the disposable masks. What I get upset with are shops with boxes of disposable masks on counter (usually newsagents and small independent food shops) for 50p each As someone else pointed out-you could always wear a bandana or scarf around your nose and mouth if you cant afford to buy masks.
  21. We buy the disposable ones from Amazon it works out way cheaper.

  23. Spotted under a pile of leaves on pavement outside Harris Primary Lordship lane.about 1.45pm Peter Rabbit plush baby sized soft toy in blue waistcoat. He was clean and dry so hadn't been there long- I put him on the low wall of Harris school. Hope he finds his owner! If owner does go back and he isn't on wall look under leaves on pavement as he fell off wall once as I walked away so I went back and tried to perch him more securely.
  24. I go to the EA east Dulwich leisure centre where the directive is to scan QR code on the track and trace app upon entering the building. I go most days but I have never ever seen anyone other than me do this-this bothers me. I can see that the gym has taken steps to make the place as covid secure as is reasonably possible with social distancing and plentiful sanitiser stations BUT without users using the app to check in and out what is the point? Ditto Restaurants; They all have the QR codes on the doors or on tables but I rarely see people actually bothering to scan them. In fact in one west end place on my lunch the staff asked a customer to scan and I saw he just pointed his phone at the QR but didn't actually use the app or safari to register. I hate to sound boring but really unless people can somehow understand that every individual is responsible for tackling this pandemic, for stopping the spread for saving lives and livelihoods we are all going to be up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
