I'm not a snob but for me personally a lot of the regular brands are a bit too chemical smelling for me or have base notes I don't like. I'd buy make up in super drug but would always choose Roullier white for perfume Incidentally I'm not a rich person but a shop assistant some people book luxury holidays I love nice unusal fragrances

Its not just unpleasant with small children around..its even worse for vunerable old people living alone. this is the sort of situation where they can get tricked out of money or the 'salesmen'could push into their home and steal their bag. please report

sounds like early morning buddhist practise to me. i used to practice a form of buddhism where I'd wake up and chant a mantra and pray this involved ringing a Tibetan style bowl at intervals throughout the prayer.

And its just plain daft the way people refuse to budge to let one get off the train at the canada water interchange, all it would take is one small side step but no..you have to literally push past them to get off. I could go on and on about how frustrated I am that our bus services seem to be cut and for those like myself who work in the west end we are very much at the mercy of the overground with its pathetic Canada water interchange,

I've heard really bad things about next door....read the reviews. i would think twice before registering with them and stick to genuine local forums like this one

Hove and Brighton very expensive Hastings is brilliant, I have friends there who've moved from London.( they are all creatives,Artists, writers and designers) lots of galleries 90mins to London Bridge or Victoria, my friends also go from Hastings to Ahford and get the fast train to St Pancras Lewes is gorgeous but also very expensive for anything decent. depends what you're selling in ED tbh....if its a small flat or a house if its a house you can afford Brighton and Hove and Lewes a flat probably not

People vote for low taxes-I'd rather pay more tax and see it spent on decent social housing, education, healthcare, and policing. all the counties resources are overstretched due to government cuts-those who voted for the present bunch of self satisfied muppets are seeing the outcome of the constant cutbacks. I myself have been approached more than once by aggressive beggars on the overground and on the streets locally but for the grace of god I have been safe when refusing to hand over cash, or cigarettes( I don't smoke but if I did at about ?10 a packet I wouldn't give one away if asked) As long as there is no policing on our streets and not enough staff to man or repair the street CCTV this kind of senseless violence will continue. I spent much of the 80's in NYC in really scuzzy areas where crime was rife but y'know what? I felt safer there because there were always cop cars cruising or parked at busy intersections as well as police on the streets.

I believe they are reopening this month. There was an earlier post where they stated they needed to upgrade the electrics and were going to tweak the menu a bit thats all I know.

Such a sad state of affairs such a long closure with eagerly awaited reopening. we loved that pub went back when it reopened encountered same as everyone else, terrible service, poor drinks choice, etc etc, you've heard it all here so I won't go into boring details. decided to try it again a few months later after management assured that the problems were being addressed and staff retrained etc etc. it was still terrible-no ice for a G&T (overpriced too) no lemon rude barstaff, chaotic service etc etc the last time we went back was probably September on a sunday evening. uncleared tables, a long wait for service, drinks had run out etc etc same old. It isn't rocket science plenty of pubs are run perfectly well in much less attractive buildings, perfectly good food gets served out of small kitchens that have'nt had the benefit of expensive new equipment. So why oh why can't the new owners able to get it right after all the disasterous reviews and broken promises of sorting things out. I wonder if they want the place to fail so they can redevelop it as residential accommodation why else would this have continued to go downhill from day one? All you need is a good manager to get on top of staff issues and ordering issues to make it improve. this for some reason seems to have proved an impossible ask.

All I have to add to this thread is the fact that in what is a tough time for retail and the steady death of our local high streets (which lets be honest are one of the main reasons to move to an area, one of the things that give it its character and life ) Putting controlled parking will effectively kill off small local buisinesses, and make larger ones think twice about opening here and investing in the area. perhaps if so many homes did not have more than one car the parking situation would be eased considerably. But it is none of my business if people are fortunate enough to afford to run two cars. What is my business is seeing my friends lose their livelihoods as shops close and employment opportunities cease in our area. when my only option for a cup of coffee is a chain like Costa because the small independents cannot survive when I can only buy fish in a supermarket like sainsburys because shops like moxons can no longer pay their rent with dwindling footfall. Having lived in Notting Hill most my life and having fought against controlled parking (along with my friends and neighbours who ran local businesses in the Portobello road and westbourne grove) by K&C when they wanted to extend it from Kensington into W10 and W11 areas and seen the wishes of both local residents and tradespeople and workers (teachers doctors etc) ignored by the council in favour of the increased revenue I very much doubt any opposition to this proposal will make a blind bit of difference the council smell a potential revenue provider and will go ahead with the scheme wether we want it or not. These schemes then have a negative effect on often poorer adjoining areas pushing parking out to those with no similar scheme.Notting hill CPZ saw this happen in neighbouring Kensal rise and kensal green with people leaving their cars there and getting busses to their work meaning the local residents there in turn encountered problems parking within a decent vicinity of their own home. Lo and Behold Brent then had to introduce a CPZ bringing additional costs to the households in that area who needed a car and once more providing additional revenue for the council. London is being killed by greed greedy landlords and greedy councils.

All I'm adding to this is that the transport in our area is shocking and seems to be getting worse instead of better. reduced bus services, overcrowded trains not to mention dangerously overcrowded interchange at Canada water to the Jubilee line, and rammed westbound jubilee line platform. I dread my commute.

Maybe a Buddhist lives near you? I used to practise buddhism and chant every morning. It can be pretty loud as the sound reverberates. or a yoga group

Dogs are not dirty..if they are not sat with their bums or paws on the table they pose no health risk in a cafe. on the other hand today at brunch a small boy at the next table (may I add the tables were very close together)kept putting his feet on the seats, and also chewed some food then took some out of its mouth ( a bread crust or something) and proceeded to put the piece of food on the wooden table. One could say the parents are to blame for not reprimanding however I would rather have had a dog sat at my feet than a pair of muddy boots on my seat

They are undertaking fitting of air-con now i believe it will be ready soonish if you are a member you'll have received the notifications of this and closure of various areas to allow the work to take place
