When I was going through a particularly tough patch in my early 20's i took to cutting myself as a way to somehow externalise what i was feeling inside i.e.;lack of confidence loneliness fear. Its not a fashion. I think the above post sums it up beautifully. I am 58 now, the scars have faded but i still remember how desolate I felt at that moment in time.
  4. same, I'd love to a dance based excersise class that isn't zumba!

Hi yes, I do get the overground but when its not running then we are somewhat up the creek. Thats why I think a hopper bus would be good and remove some of our dependence on the trains.
  7. I have a massive bee in my bonnet by how much we have to rely on the overground in this area of SE London. In SW London there are many more busses taking us into central hubs with the option of catching a tube or linking to another bus. I live FH/ED border and either have to walk up to get a 12 or do a 2 bus journey to get to weork in central London if the trains are playing up. or at the very least we need a Hoppa bus that does FH/ED/Peckham into New Cross and terminates at Canada water so at least we had the option of picking up the Jubilee line at Canada Water. I'm always ranting about how the poor transport in this part of town just gets me down. The reliablity of the trains is getting worse meaning that I often have to give myself an extra 40miniutes to get to work 'in case' of problems.
  8. Same, no BT mail since 9.40am
  9. topic related ..sort of. I may say what a joy the singing cleaning lady is at at ED gym. It just makes my day when I hear her singing as she does her job theres something really joyous about it. In fact I'm rather gutted when she isn't there to make me smile and remember to find joy in the little everyday things.

Do you think there are Ley lines there?
  11. My advice would be to view any property you are interested in at varying times of day. I lived in a victorian terrace similar to many of the houses in ED in North Kensington and I could hear my neighbours kids clearly through the walls. I now live in a 1960's terrace and its wonderfully quiet. I think most of the smaller terraced houses around ED will be as bad for hearing the neighbours as my old gaff. The reason I say view at varying times is because when I put my old place on the market I told the agent not to do viewings at times the kids had just come home from school and were thundering around before teatime.
  12. Agree...Womens changing rooms lovely and warm today! Thank you to all who listened and took action!

Really women!!! Same problem in Forest Hill Pools which is why I joined ED leisure centre despite it being a bus ride away. Believe me..for all its failings DLC is spotless by comparison.
  16. we always do 20mph in roads where that is the limit and believe me when I say many drivers do nearly double that. we've been hooted tailgated, and on occasion overtaken by drivers going into the lane of oncoming traffic. we need more speed cameras.
  17. Can they please put some heating in the womens changing rooms by gym...they are freezing!
  18. Peckham Bazzar brilliant! Peckham has much better choice of resturants than LL

I do get annoyed when people take the p**s out of others for talking about this kind of thing. good luck!

  21. I must say that however cold it gets in the UK there is rarely any need for what is in effect ski-wear. Brands such as Moncleur CG etc . I suffer terribly with the cold but wear a wool coat (or a waterproof one) a big shawl and have a hat and I'm fine. unless you're going skiing you really don't need that sort of cold protection. and it makes tube travel damn uncomftable.

I think you had bad experience (no idea how long > and how many times you swim) So can t tell > ...Dulwich is a 2 star may be lol In response to your comments I only ever used the pool in Forest Hill. Usually about 3 times a week. In honesty I never used the gym there so can only comment on the pool and the wet changing rooms. As forest hill changing rooms in the wet change area are unisex there are cubicles in which I?ve found food, used nappies. And on more than one occasion a strong smell of wee. At DLC I use both wet and dry changing areas and use the pool 3-4 times a week. So I DO have experience of the pool and am a regular user at all times of the day and week. Today I used the gym and there was a cleaner in the women?s dry changing room however it was still FREEZING COLD with no obvious form of heating

Its my local gym/pool and i changed to go to ED leisure centre a bus ride away because The changing rooms were so filthy, toilets overflowing and consistently filthy. Pool staff at FH are useless and don't seem to watch half the time. Dulwich Leisure centre is like a 5* spa by comparison...I kid you not!

I'd never buy flowers in M&S but would go to the florist near Goose green. All my perfumes come from Roulier White rather than sending my OH into town to buy in a dept store. I personally try to buy and support independent and local whenever I can
