Just read the reviews...Sad that they obviously haven't taken any of the earlier critcism on board. The menu is dated (like something from a Harvister circa 1977) uninspiring and overpriced-we have never been tempted to eat there because of it and judging by those reviews I feel we had a lucky escape. the staff are still hopeless, the selection of drinks on offer are disappointing and also overpriced. What a waste of a lovely venue.

BTW Questionair has closed and will become a shop called Iris-they have for a long time had a branch in Queens Park where I used to live. Much better selection than Questionair which seemed to stock just jeans and very average clothing and just never inspired me to make a purchase. Iris is WAY better!

I only ate there once and was very underwhelmed. It just never looked very inviting tbh.

The evening peckham buzz is strictly for the 20somethings I'd say, having been to a couple of the bars it seemed to be a very young studenty crowd. I can't help wishing i'd brought the house we viewed there 6years ago which my other half rejected because he didn't want to live in Peckham-It would be worth a bloody fortune now!!!! I find Peckham reminds me greatly of Dalston a few years ago. Very rough around the edges pretty shabby a bit sketchy but still interesting. I hope gentrification doesn't turn it into Old street or Brick lane which are just becoming another (YET ANOTHER) bland high street

The building is incredible but actually like the old design museum actually doesn't contain that much. The Wallace collection is wonderful a little oasis in the city.

It feels so different in > France/Spain/Greece/Germany/Italy and I don't > understand why it has to be different here. I think you already mentioned the reason-high street rents. thats why places like shorditch Dalston and Peckham start out with great independent buisnesses and once those areas become 'hip' or popular landlords get greedy and sadly the chains then are the only ones who can afford to be there. its a bee in my bonnet not just with eateries but with stores selling other goods too. I wish London was more like paris for example with beautiful small individual independent shops to 'discover'

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > High St Ken has become a bit crap. Westfield has > sucked the life out of it. Used to go there all > the time when I was younger. Agree totally. But then I feel most of our high streets are becoming more and more homogenised due to exhorbitant rents and buisiness taxes. Thats why London is starting to consist of streets full of chain stores, chain restaurants, charity shops and in areas like Ken high st and Portobello pop up tourist tat shops. Which actually leads me to add Portobello Road to Crap london. I lived there most of my life and now can't bear to go as I find it so depressing thinking of the wonderful quirky buzz it used to have

P.S I wouldn't advise tourists to bother with Liberty department store. I find the staff pounce on you too much-nice building but ruined by overpriced tat inside

I agree-the 'pavillion' is a real let down. we got tickets for a friday late and were terribly underwhelmed. wouldn't bother to go again

Respect to management for taking on board complaints and adressing them.

can I just say that I think its a really positive sign that the area manager has posted on this forum. Its easy for big companies to bury their head in the sand over criticism. Respect for taking it on board and I will definately re-visit. And if the menu tempts me I may even eat there.

I HATE Prosecco. It really doesn't agree with me and makes me spaced out and really unwell. Funnily enough white wine does the same thing. However I'm fine with red and rose wines, Cava and champagne. Its bloody annoying the way Prosecco has become a huge thing. give me Cava any day. I think Cava is downright naff tbh.

Am I right in assuming that 'Tart" just sells quiches? What about those of us who don't eat cheese or pastry? I doubt very much I'll ever bother going there. It seems like a pointless one dimensional offering. But then again I don't eat Pizza either which seems to be the staple diet of south East London or our neck of it anyway.

I still think we should all give our feedback on their site. give the manager an idea of which areas need his attention.

Increase in thefts around East Dulwich
NewWave replied to kbabes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
And no local street patrols from police. cut-backs strike again -
Filled in survey shared with them how rubbish it really was. heres hoping notice was taken. I actually don't blame the staff. I blame management. training in any role is key. these guys behind bar were obviously very young and inexperienced and out of their depth. told to just put money in till with no training in service or about the drinks on offer.

Thanks Louisa! I think we should all vent our spleen there!

As I mentioned somewhere on another thread. We went a week or so ago-had been looking forward to the reopening because I love the interior of the pub and the large outside space in the summer. The staff were AWFUL!!! as previously mentioned young, clueless, bewildered all stood around behind the bar looking shellshocked and not actually serving. G&T ordered no lime lemon cucumber OR ice offered-it was served like a G&T on a train (not the orient express I hasten to add) No clue about what Gins were available (I had to ask and wait while the staff member asked another staff member who then bumbled around some more). Warm Rose wine-just appalling. Its not cheap to drink in pubs these days so it needs to be a nice experience in order to bother to return. Didn't eat but glanced at the menu. uninspiring dated not seasonal and far below the average 'gastropub' more like Wetherspoons or Motorway services Harvester with inflated prices. Unlike some I had previously had some lovely sunday lunches it this pub in the past. I have no desire to even try the food here. I wish management would read this thread and respond-accept its far below par train their staff change their menu rethink pricing and hire a decent chef but somehow I doubt that will happen Sadly

This makes sense I couldn't get any emails on my phone on the 22nd-and delayed texts. Today I still have only one bar of signal.

Well said! And may I add that it is IMPERATIVE that these families are re-housed in the local area. its where their lives are, shops that provide their native food and speak their language. schools doctors, friends places of worship and family. I really understand how important having links to an area is-I grew up in Notting-Hill was born there as was my mother. growing up my grandparents were down the road and I stayed in the area until both my parents passed away and I had no links any more to tie me. These people need the comfort of the familiar.
