Yes you can..We do it. go round Marble arch and do a left into Edgeware road then its a straight run. The route panner is probably taking you via Gloucester Place then doing a left onto Marylebone road which seems a bit illogical to me as Marylebone road is always snarled up on the approach to the A40 and flyover. I know this area well having lived in W2 and W10 for most my life, and driven all around there for at least 20years

we've had an AEG washer dryer from john lewis for around 7years now. found it to be reliable and dries well. recently purchased for our holiday home another washer dryer from John Lewis it was half the price of a Bosch and is a hotpoint. found that too to work really well at both washing and drying. In 25 years I have always gone to John Lewis as I find their staff impartial and very knowledgeable and they do good extended warranties though touch wood Ive never needed to use it.

Who on earth would let a house worth upwards of 800k rot like that? surly you'd just sell it at auction?

Look up NHS choices online you should be able to choose your GP-you haven't moved so to my understanding you should be within your right to demand to stay. I wrote to my local MP regarding a similar matter-although they couldn't directly help (NHS=different dept) they did point me into the right direction. 30years and you get chucked off to another practise? madness- also look up the NHS southwark website as well and appeal good luck. I've been 8 months battling to move gp's the NHS is a mess at the moment

Private security teams only really work properly on private estates and private roads. When I was in the US my neighbours contributed to an 'armed response' security corps that would drive around the contributing streets on a a regular patrol they were also linked through to the panic buttons and alarms in peoples houses hence armed response should an alarm go off-everyone also had signs on their front gates stating the company etc therefore adding an additional deterrent. I remember chatting to one of the patrol guys and they were all ex cops ex LAPD and hence licensed to carry firearms. Such schemes are very expensive (this was in Laurel Canyon area-otherareas of Beverly Hills have same.) I believe that some streets in Hampstead have contributed to similar schemes due to doorstep muggings and carjackings. The only way I could see it working in an area such as ours is if all the local businesses on Lordship Lane and East Dulwich grove contributed and the patrols went along Lordship lane and a few streets off. Considering the amount of late night businesses (restaurants pubs cinema) this 'may' work within a 10am-11pm window. HOWEVER small buisinesses are struggling in the retail sector so I doubt an added expense would be welcome unless they felt the crimewave was negatively impacting upon their takings and also you can't get blood out of a stone. subscription policing within the private sector to my mind will not work. We need more police patrols on the streets both on foot and in cars. we need our local police stations back. There is not enough resources for adequate policing for a city the size of london. Government cuts have seen to this. I speak with some knowledge as a family member works for the met and tells me they do not have enough resources to investigate murders. something needs to be done, the newspapers need to get behind the call for more money going to the met. it is only a matter of time before people take things into their own hands and we have inexperienced neighbourhood vigilantes protecting their homes and loved ones and imagine what a mess that would be.

I'm dreading the winter when it gets dark early if these crimes are happening in broad daylight in busy places at the weekend when theres more people around. could someone pass this thread onto the Evening standard or something? If I didn't read these forums I wouldn't know and would be at greater risk through ignorance of how dangerous it is round here now. As a middle aged woman I find my quality of life is getting more and more limited through fear of crimes such as these. Do I leave my wedding and other rings off at all times outside my house? do I wear a watch? (any watch can be assumed valuable even when it is not)do I carry a handbag? Do I go out anywhere at all alone other than to and from work?-and even then the begging on the overground can sometimes be aggressive. What are our councillors doing? what is the government doing? Imposing more cuts most likely. As a londoner born and bred I have never before felt vunerable and afraid in my home city and turf. I grew up in Notting hill and lived there in the 60's and 70's and 80's on a council estate when the area was rough but I felt safe. My late parents in their 70's and 80's lived on the same estate and lived without fear, there was crime, yes in fact I was mugged-but really it was nothing like now and then at least the police came. now there is zero police visibility due to cuts as there are too few officers spread too thinly. London is turning into a complete s**th*le normal working people like myself are the ones being robbed of items they've worked hard for or of sentimental value. What is anyone going to do about it? Nothing I fear.

This has really upset me. He was a lovely man who introduced me to authors I would not have otherwise have discovered. so very sad so soon after his retirement. He will be missed

Its an utter mess. The new machines have such a large menu to navigate that its much slower to do a straightforward cash withdrawal. plus there aren't enough machines to make up for the lack of counters. I did complain and the chap stood as a 'meet and greet' described it as 'progress' No its staff cuts thinly disguised as 'progress' coupled with multiple branch closures to maximise profit for the big chiefs. I've banked with them since starting college in 1977-I'm leaving.

Sorry that came out weird in my Edit... Its called India Gate. Its not greasy and always tastes fresh-a good menu too not just standard stuff.
