  1. These flats shouldn't really go up in flames like they did as they are self contained concrete units. However, the fire spread through open windows where the curtains caught fire and the flames rose and started to burn the curtains in the open windows above.
  2. That figure seems to have no basis in fact. There doesn't seem to be that many cases at the moment since the outbreak, so where did they pluck that figure from? Is there some political agenda at work here?
  3. Also starred in Streetcar named Desire. Incidentally, he also came from the same town as Michael Jackson : Gary, Indiana
  4. As long as you post me you're picture first Woof so I can run you over just before you carve me up. Ding-dong?
  5. For the benefit of DaveR
  6. Paulie how do you find the Garmin Forerunner? I have one but the battery seems to run out very quickly. I only changed it about 3 months ago and now it's saying 'LO BATT'. Thing is I've calibrated it and once I change the battery it means having to do this again.
  7. Has anyone noticed the new posters put up by the Mayor's office promoting cycling? In none of them is a cyclist wearing a helmet. In fact in one of them a cyclist is riding through a park, which I'm sure is not allowed. Maybe Boris is keeping it real, in which case why doesn't he show them mounting the pavement, jumping red lights and recklessly weaving in and out of traffic ?
  8. How about Pete Townsend then?
  9. Will everyone feel the same about Gary Glitter when he pops his clogs?
  10. He peaked with 'Off the wall' and it was all downhill, physically, mentally and musically, from there A very sad story and loss. RIP
  11. Pleat would not like a 'civvy' telling him what's what in football.
  12. I have long disliked Pleaty and I'm a Spurs fan. I met him once and told him I was a life long Spurs fan and he didn't even look me in the eye, whereas Chrissie Hughton was a true gent. However, credit where it's due, his analysis is pretty decent. Matthew it looks like you have a fondness for a spiv with your selection of studio pundits. I'm suprised you didn't throw in Arthur Daley and Del Boy for a full house.
  13. My favourite analysts/ pundits on TV are Andy Gray, Alan Hanson and Andy Townsend. Townsend has grown on me and is a pretty decent pundit and pitches his analysis and delivery right. On the radio I like Jimmy Armfield, Graham Taylor, Gabriel Marcotti, Hnery Winter, Brian Woolnough. I have even started to like David Pleat on both mediums.
  14. You sound unpatriotic.
  15. You're making excuses for them mate.
  16. So what. He's British and he's good.
  17. Espelli did you grow up on a council estate? I did and I've never stabbed anyone.
  18. Lard and Keef. Are you both Swiss?
  19. Difficult to call. Federer may be more relaxed and confident now he's equalled Pete Sampras's record. Then again he may now be sated and no longer hungry enough. Personally I think there are some very good players in the men's. Gonzales is a good player and Nalbandian is a dark horse.
  20. LeagleEaglish I'm sure you are aware of the self defence laws in this country. It is all about reasonable force. To stab someone in self defence not only would you have to be in a position where someone has attacked you with a knife or a gun, but you'd also have to give an explanation of why you had a knife on your person in the first place.
  21. Maybe I do see things 'simplistically' as someone has put it. But in my mind things are very simple. Putting a knife in someone is wrong. There can be no type of upbringing that will enable a mindset to be formed that thinks its right. They know it's wrong when they're doing it.
  22. Does anyone really think that having a teenage mother, or having no father present when growing up, or lack of opportunities blah blah blah blah blah forces a person to pick up a knife and thrust it into another person's body?
  23. I agree Sean. The chatter on this site reminds me of the Eloi who live in constant fear of the Morlocks.
  24. Sean I'm not offering an opinion. It's just an observation I have made from other Police related postings from you, not just on this thread.
  25. The senior officer's attitude clearly didn't stink.
