I love our palm tree. Our little oasis in East D... in the heart of a concrete roundabout. However, if it is feeling a little left out in our "welcoming" community, it is more than welcome at my bar's Hawaiian Weekend. We'll all be there in swishey skirts and fake flower galas.

Has anyone seen Ghostship? It's an awful horror movie, but the opening scene has left me traumatised. There is a party on the deck of a ship and the devil just happened to be present is after a large quota of flesh. They all get killed by large metal rope, but I can't even begin to describe how without wanting to be sick. And as a result I have a phobia of those bouyed ropes in the swimming pools that they use to separate the lane swimmers. It's the same material. oh, and I think I have Tocophobia. But I DO NOT think that is irrational in the slightest. :-S

Has anyone else been vomiting with this bug? I blame the kids, they go on school holidays and give it to their parents, who then give to their work-collegues. At least when term starts they'll just pass it on to one another. I've said t before on the other thread, spending to much time with kids is never a good idea. >:D<

Sky Digital Signal on Hayes Grove

Brilliant Oggers. I have an evening job, so this lack of TV is slowly killing me. But, maybe I should go out and get some fresh air instead. -
Sky Digital Signal on Hayes Grove
VeryBerryCherry replied to davewines's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
hi, yeah we are on Hayes Grove and have experienced the same thing. tried fiddling with all the cables and boxes, but keeps coming up with the same message as you. Unplugged it all but even the normal TV siganls up the swanny. -
Yeah, I have to say I have been feeling somewhat ropey, today mainly. And the weirdest thing was I read my horoscope and it actually said I would have "eliminatary" problems this week! Now I know you may think I'm being sarcastic and taking the Schmichael, but I promise I am serious. It stuck in my head, because I was reading and I thought, what a bloody strange thing to put in a horoscope? And it told me to drink lots and lots of water!?! Doesn't Septic Peg and her ilk usually stick to money, love and luck. I don't really even take much notice... yet it seems to have come true. Maybe the astrologist is a resident EDF-er :)) Was it you Monica? ;-):))

? We had an engagement party in and there were about 40 people. We?d arranged and they had paid for the room upstairs. However, on arrival, they proceeded to dump all their work/shopping bags in the front of the main floor downstairs and crowd around the smallest, narrowest part of the bar area and they firmly ensconced themselves there for the most of the night as well as spreading themselves out in the space upstairs too. Now, we are a typically long and thin bar with a large outside area in the front and seating along a wall inside at the back. This meant that every time a food order came for outside, I had to ask them all to move, as politely as I could through gritted teeth. They eventually moved out of the way, only to promptly move back to their original space! When they finished their drinks, they traipsed outside and dumped the glasses. So in order to clean up the mess (and they made a fuck load of it) we had to keep going back and forth through this troupe of twats. Then as the night progressed, they got louder and ruder, shouting orders over the bar, barging past other customers in order to get served. I wouldn?t behave the way they did in my own house, never mind in a bar in public. Jumping over sofas, being rude to staff and other people. And then asking, ?We?re going to go upstairs?? (Thank fuck - YEAH!) ? ?Could you get one of your little waitresses or waiters to take our drinks orders for the night?? ? Err no! We have only 3 people on a Fri night and a bar/garden full of people. They ordered food and let me wander around shouting whose it was, I ASKED them, they said no and then watched me walk all around our bar and back again, before telling me to put it down on the table now! Then at about 11pm the screeching started! Not the normal raucous banter, but literally screeching at the top of their voices in Afrikaans. Not just talking loudly, but actually letting out banshee like screeches out of nowhere and lots of ?EHHHHHHH CUZ?? ?EHHHHHHHH BRAIIIIIIII? and grabbing at us over the bar in order to take a drinks order from them, snatching the card machines, throwing drinks over the bar etc? There was so much more, but I can?t even begin to write it all down, it?s making me even more angry thinking about it. I have worked in a lot of bars and dealt with a lot of shit in my time, but have never been treated so abominably and demeaning-ly as by this group of people. I can take all sorts of shit from people but this group were the biggest load of pretentious, up-themselves, knobbers!!!! I hate the Saffers and I hope they NEVER set foot in our bar again! (And I?m one? well ? of one)

The rant begins...

RANT: I HATE SAFFERS! I have just returned from a really great working trip in Krakow. The sun was out, 33 degrees, the people I took on holiday were from Liverpool and delightful, not to mention raucously funny. Even the trip to Auschwitz went without a hitch. I got to spend lots of time relaxing and people watching and revelling in the polish way of life. So eventually the tour came to an end and I had to return, I was quite pleased as I missed Mr VBC and couldn?t wait to see him after a week away.Got back to the UK all good and still in that good ?holiday mode? (despite actually being at work). So on Friday I practically skipped to work, the sun had followed me from Poland and I was really excited to see all my friends. I got to my bar in Claam and got on with prepping for the night, we had a big engagement party in....

>:D< After 2 shifts, no food and only 4 hours of sleep inbetween. After a night shift from hell having to deal with 40 of the mother-of-all bleedin, shouting and screaming drunken Saffers... I was too tired to look! *slinks off silently to other thread*

Ok, so you know when you are having that great day?... The world around you is all soft and wibbly like a Rowntrees jelly advert, you are humming to your favourite song, thinking about the last time you kissed the person(s) you loved, and floating along in a happy little bubble... And then - God takes an almighty stinking dump that lands all over your little piece of Eden. (Excuse the religious overtones, I?ve been overloaded with too much Jane Eyre (see Tues Book club thread)) Anyway, I digress... I want a place on here where we can all rant and vent about the things that have driven us nearly insane. I was thinking in the style of Grumpy Old Men/Women, but knowing the people on here - much funnier. I think we should be able to get on the EDF soap box rant, free from all this PC-nuss, "do-goodies" and arseschlochs. Just a little corner of the forum to get all the daily sh!te off your chest without any recriminations. p.s. Administrators... I thought i'd put this in the Lounged section but for some reason it's posted here!?! ... Oh I can feel a pc-based rant coming on!

I do a lot of travelling to Gatwick, as I work abroad ofter, and I'd say Option one is by far the best way to go. Tried doing it in a car (travelling to Gatwick, you mucky folks!) and it's just a pain in the @ss. Trains are really good and frequent. If youcan avoid London, you can save yourself 1/2the price on a ticket ?7 (not through london) or ?14 otherwise. And if you go online and book it (if you have time) you can get a return.

Ha ha ha! >:D< ... That's more like it!

This is in my "Top 10 Funniest Threads" It starts and ends at this though. The thing that bugs me most about "top 10 blah blah blah" is, who on earth can remember 10 of anything? I struggle if I put more than 5 types of alcoholic drinks on my shopping list... (?) The mouthwash and floor cleaner sections usually lead me astray... *slowly and drunkenly realises that she's answered her own question*

I agree, I am finding it immensely interesting. Especially the etymology, history and the reasons behind them. It just reminded me of something my old English professer used to say, that's all.

Yeah, I don't know who Dean is, or how clean he is. But we're supposed to get On-Dean
