  1. Again and Again - Status Quo
  2. Take it Easy - Eagles
  3. I once attended a funeral, with the cortege leaving from the house. The bereaved had put bins etc in the road with a note stating please don't park because of the funeral and what time it was. They were moved and someone had parked there. In this instance, and taking into account some of the posts already submitted on this thread, who was right/wrong fair/selfish on this occasion?
  4. As far as spaces lost or spaces gained, I think you will find that a car can be removed when parking across a dropped kerb when a vehicle is parked on the off street parking place, that is to say they have a right not to be blocked in. However, if there is no vehicle parked in the space then there is no right to access that space by having a vehicle removed, that is to say, there are no rights regarding being blocked out. Quite ridiculous, bearing in mind the amount of money that can be payed out by an applicant.
  5. (My) Green Tamborine - Status Quo

Freely admit, KK, had not heard of him, checked him out on Wiki, looks to have had a bit of a pedigree with associations with Fleetwood Mac and Alexis Korner. Gonna check him out on you-tube when I get a moment. Thanks for the suggestion, good to come across new artists ( well new to me I mean)
  7. I'm Still Standing - Elton John
  8. Sugar Sugar - The Archies (S**t I'm getting old )

Your quite right, if/when the thread has run for a while, most will have been mentioned several times. A lot of "usual suspects" mentioned on here, which I said wasn't the aim as some of them cannot possibly have their talent questioned. Did post earlier in the thread that really I was looking for guitarists that are maybe forgotten (so great rather than greatest), but it is all interesting, and fascinating, to read others viewpoints.
  10. Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones
  11. No one's mentioned Johnny Winter yet
  12. Down Down - Status Quo
  13. What about Bert Weedon and Les Paul...maybe,DaveR, it was they who started it all!?
  14. Famous In The last Century - Status Quo
  15. Think randombloke's a Thin Lizzy fan, Robertson, Gorham, Bell and Moore!!! Not that I disagree with it, especially comments about the Still Got the Blues Tour. Should have titled this thread "great guitarists" rather than "greatest", what with so many different styles being referred to. What about Robin Trower, unkindly perhaps referred to as "the white Jimi Hendrix" in the early 70's, with the style of playing he adopted around that time. What a contrast to his time in Procol Harum !!
  16. Anyone got any thoughts on Leslie West (of Mountain). Mentioned this on another thread, but he produces such a sweet fantastic tone from his guitar, especially on tracks such as Theme from an Imaginary Western and One Last Cold Kiss ( what great lyrics that track contains for a rock song!), and he's still going strong despite having a leg amputated a couple of years back and the list of other great guitarists that appear on his recordings and in concert with him goes on to this day.
  17. Rockin all over the World - Status Quo
  18. This is all great stuff folks. Glad @ ElPibe mentions a classical guitarist - Segovia, so let's include his protege as well, Williams. Don't agree Keith Richards is the best rhythm guitarist though (better than that)as I think that honour has to go to Rick Parfitt for sheer tenacity for the past 40 yrs. Anybody remember the young blind canadian, Jeff Healey, who died so tragically young. Sort of came to prominence when he appeared in the Patrick Swayze film, Roadhouse, he was a fantastic player of blues guitar and if you can recall, played the guitar resting across his lap as, for obvious reasons, he performed sitting down.
  19. Get it On - T.Rex
  20. Agree with that Otta, and Ozzy was really devastated at his death you might recall. @fernado....Parfitt? Surely not better than the great man himself, Francis ?
  21. All those true and proper music aficionados out there, who do you think is the greatest guitarist of all time and why? Not talking about the usual suspects like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, whose talents are not in question, but some of those who tend to be forgotten.

Vaguely seem to recall that a profession club in London wanted to buy them, going the whole hog, dismantling ,transporting etc etc.
  23. Hotel California - Eagles
  24. @SylvieM Does it have to be Exeter? As you are thinking about Devon, what about the north of the county? The area of Barnstaple is great, and as you say you are still young at heart, the surfing paradise of Croyde/Croyde Bay is nearby and that gets really lively!!!Great bars and restaurants and the Tarka Otter railway line from Barnstaple to Exeter really is quite stunning if you had cause to go to Exeter. Not that this would be a practical commute, takes about an hour.
