  1. Some modern phrases irritate the hell out of me. For instance - where the hell did this stupid phrase 'My bad' suddenly spring from? I find it really irritating in its ungrammatical pointlessness. And idiots who say awesome all the time to describe just about anything. Morons the lot of 'em They need a good slap with a hard back copy of the Collins English dictionary. That'll learn 'em.
  2. I'm still out of work Ontheedge. Gave up looking when my financial circumstances slightly improved. And to be honest the thought of ever going back to work fills me absolute horror and a morbid dread. Anyway, apologies to DJKQ for my temporal absence of irony.
  3. Hmm... I think you maybe right El Pibe. Reading it again I think I may have had a temporary irony bypass.
  4. That's bloody harsh DJKQ and unwarranted. It is extremely hard to find work once you're over 50. I spent 18 months on the dole until quite recently after being made redundant two years ago and I found it nigh on impossible to pay for most of things I took for granted. If it wasn't for good friends and family I'd have fecking starved. Most employers just don't want to know about anyone over 40 these days let alone over 50 I just hope you don't find yourself in in a similar situation. No, forget that. I do. Because you're obviously a bit of a cunt Best of luck NomdePlume and congratulations on eventually finding full-time employment.
  5. Avoid the Punch & Judy - it's a packed in like sardines nightmare tourist trap.

I started to watch their set on Iplayer this afternoon but after about five minutes I couldn't take anymore. I tried again a little while later but it was even worse. Embarrassing. Fucking awful. I couldn't watch anymore. Yet I saw them a couple of years ago at Shepherds Bush Empire and they were fucking excellent.
  7. Best flag banner of the festival - God Hates Flags.
  8. Just watching 'em now Woodrot on BBC Iplayer. Never seen John look so fat. Here you go - make up your own mind. - http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ej58q9/acts/acfp5v#p01c4559
  9. They sound like the Yardbirds did in 1963. Not sure if that's a good thing. Still, they're only school kids and maybe in a few years time they'll sound like the Yardbirds did in 1966, which is a much better prospect.

  11. Nick Cave's set was a definite highlight of the weekend for me Mr B.
  12. And so's the audience. They're only people who can avoid the fecking tickets these days. Cunts!
  13. How the fuck do the Trust Fund Wurzels get to headline over Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. That is just so wrong.
  14. Not half. Thanks for the heads up dbboy.
  15. I've not eaten there in there for at least a couple of years but I'd like to give a shout out to my local chish n' fip shop (The Two Brothers) up the other end of the Lane which in my opinion in now the best locally. Certainly the biggest improvement because it used to be seriously bad before they took over. Used to think the one on Underhill was the best but they need to up their game again. Not saying they're bad but they used to be very good. Now, it's just good. And I speak as a man who likes his fish supper on a Friday night.
  16. Hmmm... I love the Stones. It's a well known fact. Seen 'em loads of times. Obviously, only a little bit of the Glastonbury gig was shown on the gogglebox but I feel extraordinarily underwhelmed by that performance.
  17. Hmm... well you see back then I never aligned myself to anything. I loved all different kinds of music (and still do) and I wasn't going to be shackled to some stupid gang mentality where you can only like certain things and dress a certain way. Obviously some people never learnt about the original punk attitude of individuality. Back then I took from everything. Once everyone starts dressing the same it's over. It's another uniform. I learnt that when I was very young with hippies and skinheads. Can't wait for the Stones tonight.
  18. You've got the wrong thread Mr Quids.
  19. Dearly me. Come on girls. Take a chill pill you two.

Classic. I last bought it at Christmas coz Keef was the cover. Sadly, its glory days are long gone. I'll take a peak now and then but I'm a Mojo man now. Oldus Fartus as they say in Ancient Rome. Thoroughly enjoyed Chic tonight.
  21. Yeah...black fingers.
  22. I did the same Mr B. Working just around the corner from Fleet Street I'd rush out every Wednesday and get down there and get 'em a day early too. NME read first cover to cover and crossword done in minutes after a good chuckle at The Lone Groover. Oooh! Chic are on. Have you read Nile's book? Bloody good it is too.

  25. Blimey Mr B. You still read the NME? Respect. It was our weekly musical bible fix when I was younger so much younger than today.
