  1. I've not seen a bottle of Harvey's Bristol Cream since the 70s. I had no idea it was still in circulation. Bit like Blue Nun.
  2. What Alex K said.
  3. I remember scoring at the Farm back in the 80s or early 90s when it was all squats. I'm sure I went to some mad party there once too. I am though very glad they have been restored to their former glory. They were very shabby back then but look fabulous now. Would have liked them to have mentioned what a great school Mary Datchelor was. I know some wonderful girls who went there. I believe it was the last grammar school to close in England. All posh flats now. The Grove House Tavern I'd have liked to have had more of a mention to. Had some interesting times in that pub over the years. It was mentioned (under a different name) in Charles Dickens' Tale Of Two Cities.

    Right. Or 2-1 either way.

  6. Only my name is different. I feel I'm pretty much as I am on here. At least I think I am. What do you think? On second thoughts. Don't answer that.

  8. Harry was offered a four year deal in January and he turned it down because he thought he was going to get the England job. Now five months later he's asking for a new three deal (through the media) as he only has one year left on his contract. I think Harry talked himself out of the job. As usual with Harry, it's all about Harry. I think Levy questioned his loyalty and called his bluff. He was only offering a rolling one year deal and Harry wanted more. However, if he has gone and nothing is official yet I've got to say I've thoroughly enjoyed the time Harry has been at the club. We've played some superb football but at the end of the day still won nothing. Our blip towards the end of last season could also have been a major contributory factor in his sacking if indeed he has been. I hope Levy knows what he's doing and has someone up his sleeve to take us to the next level. I certainly do not want another Juande Ramos situation even if he did win us the League Cup it was largely Martin Jol's side. Jol shouldn't have gone either. There are also rumours going around that Spurs are about to be bought by some very rich Arabs. Perish the thought. Maybe they didn't fancy him either. I'll miss Harry I've enjoyed the ride. Fcuk knows what will happen to us now. COYS!

Oh, if we're going to be like this I played a couple of times for south London schoolboys. Went training at Crystal Palace and for a very short while was a junior at Spurs and was offered a trial at Everton but by then I'd discovered sex and drugs and rock n'roll. Played Sunday pub football too. Doesn't make me Glenn Hoddle or even Alan Hansen come to think of it. Anyway, @UDT - to answer your question about Gerrard turning his back on Nasri's shot I would say he should never have been allowed to shoot in the first place and should have been closed down before he got the chance to do so. But you're right he shouldn't have turned his back. You stand firm and try and block or tackle, neither of which he did.

Ahem! To be fair you don't go 22 games unbeaten by being disorganised. I thought France looked very good but were frustrated by England's two banks of four every time they attacked. Roy Hodgson has got us organised (that word again) defensively which is the first thing you have to do. Organisation starts at the back. If we can be more offensive and creative without shirking our defensive responsibilities it's possible we can do a lot better in this tournament. I feel we still have to be very cautious with our work without forgetting our attacking instincts if we are to progress any further. Just a little more positivity in midfield and sharpness in our finishing up front and I think we can go a little further in this competition.
  11. Cuba's legendary three-time Olympic heavyweight champion Teofilio Stevenson has died following a heart attack. He was just 60. He was one of the greatest fighters never to turn professional, won gold at Munich '72, Montreal, 76 and Moscow 1980. In his prime it was thought he could have given Muhammed Ali a run for his money and a bout between them was often touted but Stevenson refused to give up his amateur status.

If Rooney plays as poorly as he did in the last tournament where he was absolutely useless we've got no chance of progressing to the next round.
  13. OMG! I remember my parents had one just like that Jeremy.
  14. Failing that get a Dansette

The most important thing is not to lose the first game and England didn't. Basically, we parked the bus and hoped to get them on the break. On paper that was our toughest game in the group but I also think we'll draw against the Swedes and playing the Ukraine on their home turf after such a good win last night won't be easy.

I loved it until it started falling apart and things got desperate before it finally closed its doors. I'd go in there some days around five or six in the evening and not come out again until ten the next morning. This would often go on for days with sessions carried on elsewhere in between. Towards the end once when Stab & Crime shut at 4am people would from there would sneak round the back of The Drum and get in and carry on there. A proper den of inquity in its day. I'm glad it's closed now though. I don't think my body could take that sort of living anymore. Loved Inside 72 as well. Especially if you got there early and got a bar stall between the speakers. The staff were great too and helped create a good vibe.
  17. Well done. I can't stand litter louts either.

Excellent two opening games. Was a bit surprised by how poor the Czechs were and how good the Russians were. Fantastic goal by Pav. Wish he'd done that more often at Spurs.

  24. I'm neither a royalist or a republican. Found this article in the New Statesman rather interesting. Some of the letters afterwards are pretty good too.
  25. Indeed! Bloody cheek. I'm a non-aligned radical maaaaan!
