  2. Kompany gets four match ban. Harsh but glad he's out of game against Spurs.
  3. Sorry, couldn't help myself. We've lived a long time in Woolwich Wanderers shadow. Still, we've won nothing yet. It's a long season.
  4. One-nil to the Arsenal. Terry Henry getting the winner. Just like old times eh. I'm off to White Hart Lane tomorrow night for our game in hand match against Everton. If we win we'll go joint second, eight points clear of Chelsea and nine points clear of Arsenal. Welcome to the present.
  5. She lives on Underhill Road.

  7. He'd miss the game against Tottenham too. Kompany is class so I hope on a purely selfish level he misses the game against us. Also, Ledley King is out for another couple of months after tearing his hamstring in training. I think Harry needs to go out and buy central defender in this window. Blackburn's Christopher Samba would do very nicely thank you.
  8. Liverpool v Man Utd. You've gotta love the FA Cup.
  9. Innit!
  10. Well I certainly didn't. :'(
  11. Brian Green is a local historian. Wrote a few definitive books on the history of Dulwich and Edward Alleyn. I believe he still owns the stationers/toy shop in the village. He was also involved with the IMPS (of which I was a young member in the early 60s - a sort of younger version of the Boys' Brigade. I'm assuming he is still alive though he must be getting on a bit now if he is.
  12. Sugar was Dusara's Videos (I still have my membership card) and the greengrocers stood where the Black Cherry is today.
  13. I've been meaning to tell you Mac. They DO still play MacNamara's Band at Spurs. It's when the teams come out on the pitch for the second half. Just never recognised it. My mistake.

  15. We didn't didn't have a midfield in those games. All out injured and Parker hadn't arrived. We don't lose when he is in the team. Hope he's back for the game against Everton next week.
  16. The defence has been pretty solid especially when Ledley King plays. We've not lost with him in the side since August 2010. Unfortunately he can't play every game. What has also improved our defence is having Scott Parker in front of the back four. He does a lot of tidying up and gets plenty of tackles in to win the ball for us and give it to Luka Modric to work his magic. Sandro does a similar job but he's out injured again too. Younis Kaboul has improved tremendously this season and has really benefited playing alongside King and the very experienced Willem Gallas who unfortunately is injured again. Michael Dawson is back tomorrow and so am I. Going on Wednesday too against Everton - our game in hand. If we can win that it'll show how much we've improved to stay in the top three ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool and will take us level on points with Man Utd. I agree the 22nd against Man City could well be the defining moment in the season. It'll be a crucial game for both sides and we'll want revenge for the embarrassing trouncing we got at White Hart Lane early in the season. I'd be very happy with a draw up there and so would Man Utd with both teams dropping points.
  17. Oh dear. Anyway, enough of this pub talk. I'm off out for a snifter or two. Cheers!
  18. Good points *Bob* and nice bit of irony shoved in as well. You're right of course. Admittedly, apart from when there is a big game on telly the pub is almost empty most of the time and has been dying on it's arse for quiet a few years now. And, not everyone wants to watch football and maybe put up with the odd unpleasant "character".
  19. *Bob* we're English. Part of being English is taking the piss/having a sense of humour. You should know that. You do it so well yourself.
  20. Great post herrd. Had me laughing out loud. I remember when the EDT was a proper pub. I'm not overly keen on it now. I hope I won't be saying the same about the CPT. There's life in the old girl yet.
  21. Welcome back Louisa. It's been a while. What you have said about the demise of Rye Lane is spot on and I think Undisputed Truth has nailed it too. This thread is also beginning to make me feel rather old because I remember all those big stores on Rye Lane. Jones & Higgins especially. I'd go there with my mum when I was little. It really was rather posh. Who'd a thunk it when you like at that street now.
  22. It bloody should be listed. The whole building should be listed. If memory serves I think The Wishing Well (now the Victoria Inn) managed to keep the glass/bar partition bit after the refurb. I can't be sure of that because I've only been in a couple of times since it re-opened.
  23. I bloody hope not.
  24. You're going to miss Yaya Toure when he goes to the African Nationals BR. He is absolutely immense. Big thank you to Newcastle tonight. They are really going to miss Demba Ba when goes too.
