As much as I love the Stones seeing them the O2 last year the tickets were ?150 each although luckily for me I didn't have to pay as a friend who was a big cheese at EMI until his recent redundancy got me the tickets for nothing.

Hmmm...I've been offered tickets for forthcoming gigs by Jerry Lee Lewis (100 Club) and Little Richard and for the same reasons I don't want to tempt fate as they are both getting on a bit.

I'd go for John Terry as England captain, thug or not he has plenty of passion on the pitch and he's as brave as a lion. I have a sneaking suspicion he's go for Beckham though as it's tradional in Italy for the oldest players to be the captain. Managed to miss all the football over the weekend as I got completely shit-faced for most of it although I did slip into the CPT to watch the Man Utd v Newcastle game. I thought Man Utd were well below-par and I was very impressed with two of the new signings Newcastle had made in Coloccini and Gutierrez. I'd rather not talk about the Spurs result. I was rather hoping we'd get off to a better start than that. We're obviously still quite a few players short, especially up front.

Being straight myself I'm a bit baffled too James, I have to say that is a bit weird, but students eh? Bunch of knobheads.

Having worked on The Sporting Life for 23 years until it closed in '87 I'd been known to have flutter but strangely enough once I'd been made redundent I lost all interest in horse racing and gambling. Mind you, I'd seen so many mugs over the years win and lose a fortune on the same afternoon that I was never a big gambler. But a small little wager to keep an interest in whatever it is your betting on is pretty harmless just as long as it doesn't become a habit and take over your life.
