  1. Oh no he doesn't so there.
  2. Ah! Sean. A ponytail on any man is unforgiveable indeed. It makes want to get a pair of scissors and snip the unsightly thing off. PS: I got the mag and the Faces article was pretty good but the CD was seriously lacking. Only one or two things on there that I thought were any good but then of course you can't beat the real thing can you.
  3. Loved the post Bara and it brought back quite a few memories for me. I can remember getting things like Ben Sherman shirts in Dales in Peckham and using the market for things like Harrington jackets and Crombie overcoats and reggae records although, I'd normally go to Brixton for that. I remember going to the Saturday morning kids cinema in Grove Vale a few times when I was kid but me and my mate would usually get thrown out for fighting and this from a boy brought up in the "posh" Village. My parents bought a house late in 1959 in Pickwick Road in the heart of the village for ?1,500. We stayed there until I was 18 when my dad's building business went tits up and we couldn't afford to live there anymore and had to move to "Wild" West Norward. But, I was 18 then and by the time I was 20 was renting flats in East Dulwich. East Dulwich was never really rough, sure some of it's pubs would have a few rows in them on a Saturday night but who could say that a few of them don't now. It's certainly been gentrified a bit but some people on here would have it that it was a bit of a dump and it most certainly wasn't.
  4. Rod Stewart's version of Paul McCartney's Mine For Me and also his version of Bob Dylan's Only A Hobo. This was when young Roderick was cooking with gas.
  5. Ha! Sean, One for you old bean. I still have the original 7 inch single of this Adrien Belew/David Bowie tune at home but my word the video looks dated doesn't it.
  6. East Dulwich is cooler than thou.

  10. Snorky, I read most of Charles Bukowski's stuff a long long time ago and obviously there had to be an element of fiction to his writing for it to have been creditable. Obviously he wrote what he knew about and exagerrated other parts. Here's my take on a typical Bukowski paragraph - "Woke up, scratched my balls, staggered to the John, threw up and took a shit. Went to the fridge, grabbed a beer, got in the car and went to the racetrack. Met a woman, took her back, got drunk , we fu*ked, drank more and crashed."
  11. Man Of The World - Fleetwood Mac
  12. 2,733 posts since March 20 last year. About ten a day I suppose. Maybe I'll quit at 3,000 but I might need therapy, rehab and after care.
  13. At The Dog In Dulwich by Colin Murphy which was about the poetry evenings above the Crown & Greyhound pub in the Village. Ok not East Dulwich but there you go. I thought it may be worth a mention.
  14. It doesn't matter what age you are, you can still discover and enjoy music from any period. Age isn't a barrier, it's all part of the joy of discovering the good stuff, just dive in and have a listen. For instance I've got old blues records that go as far back to the 30s. Sean, I'll be keen to join in with you on a singalong of Cave's The Weeping Song. Anyway, what a great song this is from a girl of my generation. Kate Bush - Cloudbursting
